      chaoticB81 like her or not, Hillary isn't nearly as vile as trump. She didn't slander bernie's family like trump did to cruz, and her speeches aren't crammed with hatred and racism. The democratic nomination was largely fought on policy not rhetoric, fear and showmanship. Comparing the two isn't helpful. It's necessary for bernie to back Hillary for the sake of unity, and even though he didn't win, he has prompted real change.

    • @SOMSebster
      @SOMSebster Před 8 lety +1

      Lena R
      Every politician has to be somewhat dramatic, he's not over the top though - he states facts. I pity those like you who have to try and patronise others with opposing political beliefs in order to make yourself feel happier with your own inteligence and view point which you obviously have little evidence to support. Where in this speech was Trump wrong?

    • @lenichimer
      @lenichimer Před 8 lety +4

      Oh, pardon me. I misread your first comment.
      Opposing political beliefs are not the problem. If we were to discuss the benefits and short-comings of privatized services compared to universal state-provided ones; if we were to discuss the benefits and threats of restrictions of personal liberty to prevent crime; if we were to discuss religious freedom and its consequences for other basic human rights and equality; if we were to discuss income equality and the importance or danger of a focus on economic growth -> then we can have a rational discussion. And I am happy to do so.
      Unfortunately many people are not. Those are the ones I feel sorry for. They are blinded by fear and in-group biases.
      Trump does not state facts. He states opinions, which he sells as though they were facts.
      For example:
      - the US have one of the highest GDP (although wealth equality is not as high as in other places) - how can a multi millionaire speak about the darkest times for the US etc...? Who do they think are the ones that take away their money/power/luck? The US is one of the most powerful global negotiators.
      - Trump's fiscal plan is ridiculous (unless you are wealth, then good for you!) and would certainly not benefit "the poor" or any non-rich group
      - global terrorism is not a "muslim" problem. In fact, there is not even a clear correlation between strict islamic beliefs and terrorism. Banning or suggesting to ban a group of people simply due to their religion is pure bigotry.
      - similar problematic are his overgeneralizations of hispanic people.
      - I find it highly problematic when constitutional and democratic values are questioned unreasonably, without improvement in mind, but destruction; for example fair trail (critizism of Clinton).
      - his way of avoiding any meaningful discussion by demeaning his opponents (crooked Hillary, lying Ted, Jeb Bush...), by questioning their proficiency ("you would not understand")... this all is a step back from the civil values we applaud most in liberal societies.

From things to boost both our a foreign and domestic economies, to making sure our veterans get the proper medical care they've fought for. Seriously, stop watching the mainstream media. No because he showed some balls and let himself being bulling or bend over. I would not have for him, support liberal views be clear. But a pledge was a stupid idea to start with, just as voting blindly for someone for his claim political affiliation when you disagree with most of his messages and rhetoric.
      Not so long ago most republican party leaders did not approved of Trump as a candidate. It seems that winning election has become more important than actually governing the head of the GOP decided to bend over even if it means the party is turning to some far right aberration. The best outcome we can hope for this election is 4 more years of gridlock in Washington, great isn't it? It is really time for the two party to disappear.

      I can see the Democrats... biding their time for a little while longer, maybe waiting until September. Then they start revealing the real Trump. Showing how he has built his wealth by ripping off Americans and small businesses, time and again. There is a long list of people his companies have told, paraphrasing, 'Either take less than the contract we agreed to, or sue us. Good luck, because we have the BEST lawyers. And they know the best words.'
      It may sound like a joke, but it's not. Trump University is just one of his many schemes to rip off Americans. Very few can honestly look at what he's done throughout his career and think that he cares about the middle class, the lower class or Americans, in general. Those who won't agree probably have their heads so far up Trump's backside that they can't see anything but his next bowel movement.
      This is part of the reason why Never Trump exists. I'm not saying the other side is all roses and sunshine, but electing a statue as President would be a far better option than electing Trump. Unless you are a billionaire like him. Then he's got your back.
