  • Hey its Zach from 718motorpool and today were pulling out another archive video. In 1996 the NYPD was modernizing with a new white livery, This was one of 3 designs experimented with in 1996 and it was modeled on an Aero Ford Crown Vic. This Mock up failed for the more well known Livery that was on cars from 1997 until 2023. This historical video shows what could have been and could have been lost to history.

i miss those glory days when every car on the street wasn't an ugly SUV or crossover hybrid, whatever you got there

Compared to the horrendous scheme they have now, this one is MUCH better and would've been a better option if they did this today

The last good livery was the grabber blue

@@The718Motorpool agreed. But for the sake of current/cost cutting schemes, this one should've been it. Not the current newest one

You're right about it being horrendous. Considering the capability of vinyl wrap, they could go back to grabber blue scheme or something similar. I think solid white police cars are just too nondescript. It's the NYPD and they should really differentiate themselves.

I liked this early NYPD Version better. Than the “CPR” version

I think they should've, and still should, go with the historical color NYPD trademark blue cars.

Nothing is worse than the new UGLY 2024 livery. Horrible. Leave the iconic white and blue along.

The other fun fact is how they introduced this in 1996, but thats a 93-94 model crown vic.

Because this was an unmarked highway car that got marked up. If you look closely you can see there's a regular smart siren controller instead of a vision controller.

This was my favorite crown Victoria and why they only made it for a few years I think it handled better than the bigger crown vics it had more speed and way better for fit maneuvers
