Hey Gisela! Native Texan here, I have family just north of Uvalde and this tragedy hits home. In Texas, you have to be 21 to buy cigarettes, 21 to buy alcohol, but only 18 to purchase a guns and ammo. The governor (who im voting out come election day) just passed a law where you no longer need a license to legally carry a handgun in most public places. Background checks are not required for person to person firearm sales (which is most of the sales occurring here). There are no mental health evaluations conducted when trying to purchase a gun. Texas claims to love children, but we rank 49th out of 50 in prenatal care, 50th for insured women, 44th in school funding, 40th in child hunger, and 44th in school spending per child. The only thing Texas cares less about than women...are children. They give more rights and laws to unborn fetuses than than do for actual Elementary school children. Don't get me started on the Heartbeat law and lack of womens rights in our state. Its truly heartbreaking.
Totally. And they can’t call themselves pro life when they take pride in carrying out the most executions of any US state. The US state of Texas is the definition of hypocrisy.
The husband of the school teacher passed from a broken heart. They were high school sweethearts and were married for 24 years. They have 4 children. So tragic. Prayers for strength...

It’s beyond imagination for me…. I feel so terribly sad for those little children & their families, the teachers & their families, & the shooters Grandmother too. What a horrific & senseless act of violence!!!

And also the children across the world (but mostly in the US, I would guess) who r left confused and afraid to go to school, or go anywhere in some cases. My children (10 and 9) had, n continue to have, such adult kind of questions after this tragic day. It breaks my heart watching them fear the place they have always felt so safe at. These elementary school age babies and forced to try to wrap their little minds around this situation, and the many others as well, n that is just not okay with me. My kids should be running wild with imagination and creativity and learning at this age, but instead they afraid and so very confused. I hate that I can’t truly comfort them. I can’t undo any of this. I can’t make them feel safe n secure at school, or even walking down the street. Every child is effected in such a huge way and that is just the worst. I am blessed that my children’s school is actually attached completely to the local police station, but they are still afraid, and I am too.
I cried like a baby watching the news reports, my heart is hurting for the families of these victims. I have three school age granddaughters and it scares me to think that this could happen in the public school where our children are supposed to be the safest, and my youngest daughter is studying to be a kindergarten teacher and will be in her own classroom come next Fall. This is very frightening and who would think of hurting little innocent babies for no reason, my heart's broken prayers for the families 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
It’s so scary! Hearing that the one ten year old girl kept calling 911 over n over n over just begging for police to come in n help them. She gave continuous update to the 911 dispatch each time she called back (every few minutes basically). She literally was giving the dispatch a play by play and an updated count of how many children were still alive and needing help ASAP. Also what the gunman was doing and how many children had passed already. My daughter is 10 n my son is 9. It terrifies me to think about my own children being in that position and being brave enough to make those repeated 911 calls. I can’t even imagine my babies being in a senario where they would need to independently step up and do what that little girl did (along with others too) to try to save her classmates and teachers. She must have been so afraid, but in the face of such crazy fear and unknowing, she was somehow able to put in a brave face and act pretty much like an adult that day. How was she not totally paralyzed by fear in those moments. So brave. She is an absolute HeRO!!! N all the while, thru each of her heartbreaking 911 calls pleading for help n to be rescued, the police were standing for over an hour right on the other side of the damn classroom door. Literally listening to these children being shot and killed and doing NOTHING AT ALL!!! makes me sick. Bless these children. Just babies. And the teachers who tried to protect them until the bitter end. N the poor husband who in turn died of heartache for his slaughtered wife.
Horrific! Innocent children & teachers killed for what?!?! Legislative measures need to be changed. Please vote accordingly.

A boy filled with anger over bullying! Still no excuse but the teachers need to step up quit ignoring the bullying! I have 2 daughters and granddaughter bullied and seen affects of it!
I truly despise these creatures that hurt or kill kids. Truly dispicable, cruel, and pure evil.
I held my youngest a little more than normal and knew I was lucky. I had mine and 19 parents didn't have their babies anymore. Sad thing is nothing will be done to stop these.
He must've been jealous of their joy and innocence. Full of Demons. His poor Grandmother, people will be cruel to her now. Thank goodness she survived but I pray her life isn't ruined by his actions. Recovery will be very difficult.
The parents lives are already ruined. How do you recover from this ? How do you carry on without your children? My heart aches for everyone involved.
Horrific. My heart is crushed for those children and their families and the teachers. Not only do teachers get low pay in the US but they risk their lives every day. I think every person in the US should be required a mental evaluation before they can purchase a firearm. This is happening way to often here.

I'm in UK. Woke up this morning went for a bike ride. Feeling positive about life and then put the news on and this. I'm not sorry if I upset any Americans. The right to bear arms is a freedom you love. I respect that. But no 18 year old needs a gun made for war. Please wake up at do something. It breaks my heart. He was 18. It's children killing children

I live in the US and my heart has broken. I couldn’t watch your coverage of this shooting until today 8 days after. It’s too sad and too frequent. 💔😓
supposedly it all stemmed from him not being allowed to graduate. They said his grandma died later from injuries. Looks like his High School was the intended target but he wrecked his truck so ran to the Elementary School instead.
several TV news says the grandma died from head wound then others say she survived. still not clear why he wrecked his truck initially they said he was under pursuit then changed it.
