  • Did you know abdominoplasty time off work varies based on your profession? Today, Doctor Bernard Beldholm, FRACS reveals how occupations relate to abdominoplasty downtime. This video provides examples of some popular jobs and how long the average abdominoplasty recovery time off work may need to be.
Some patients have sedentary jobs such as clerical work. Others may work from home. The physical demands of these roles are minimal. That means certain patients may be able to return to work sooner. Meanwhile, some patients have physically demanding jobs. A warehouse worker or landscape gardener comes to mind. The more physically active your job, the closer you will usually be to a 4-week downtime. Then, we have athletes, who may need 4-6 weeks off.
Finally, the most important job of all - being a mother. Mums will need extra help after abdominoplasty surgery, especially if she has young children. Working mothers and stay-at-home mums recover best with supportive childcare in the first few weeks. The age of the children matters, too. Click the video to learn more!
It’s not just the type of profession you have, but also the type of abdominoplasty surgery. In fact, there are many other factors that can affect how long it takes you to return to work after an abdominoplasty. These include:
    - Type of surgery
    - Extent of loose skin removal
    - Add-ons like liposuction or muscle repair
    - Current age and health
    - Physical demands of your job
    - How far the drive to work is
    - For mums, age of your children
