  • Legendary basketball player Charles Oakley sits down with Tamron Hall to discuss his book, “The Last Enforcer.” Often regarded as one of the best rebounders in the NBA-Oakley recalls his career, relationship with Michael Jordan, and decades-long feud with Charles Barkley in the memoir. He talks to Tamron about controversial moments in his career and shows off his skills in the kitchen with a shrimp alfredo cooking demo.

    Love Charles Oakley!! He and I attended the same high school in Cleveland (John Hay) I came a few years after him but heard all the stories and how good he was. I was a white kid going to a predominately all black school in the mid 80's and played baseball, winning a city title in 1986. I ended up getting a baseball college scholarship and it all worked out. My brothers were black and white and I wouldn't have had it any other way looking back. I was a student though of all sports and followed Oakley into the NBA. People talk about him being an enforcer etc but more than that, Charles was a guy that made it from the streets of Cleveland and was just so hungry to get to the top. Hard work ,dedication and character was what this man was and is. Would have loved to have met him. He may be surprised that a white kid back in his day was getting after it as well and that I admired him as he inspired me so much. Have to buy his book:))!! Oakley all day!!!

Barkley said he doesn't like Oakley or dislike him. He's simply someone who isn't important to him and doesn't even think about him. I don't remember Oakley going to see him after that statement. Loved him with the Bulls but thought he bought too much into being the intimidator with Riley and the Knicks. Not someone I’d call a dirty player overall, but did try and intimidate which I don’t like that unless it’s provoked and called for. Still a hard working man and someone who I think in his own heart is dedicated to being a solid individual. Congrats on his marriage and family.

      I liked him more with the Bulls as well. He was tough but fun to watch with Jordan. I think that was more him being himself. He was also a better b-ball player with them focusing more on his b-ball skills then just being an enforcer. I think the Knicks would have been better if he didn’t play so obsessed with being an enforcer, but that’s probably what Riley wanted.

    @stephaniejones6379 Před 2 lety +1

    I think it's very nice Oakley is a great self made man who had a successful career and found his niche doing things like Rodman. He was very good defensive guy with stopping players inside the paint good on defense and blocking shots and he would let you have it when he was with the Knicks himself Bernard Mason they were a tough team along with Patrick Euwng, Oakley is well know for playing defense for Jordan when he was with the Bulls. Had a good career in basketball, he own restaurant, has a new coaching job with Jordan's team the Bobcats has a new cooking show on fox all positive stuff but he has to go and write a book and Just like Scottie wrote a book thrives off of putting another person down ie Barkley. Oakley writes a book the enforcer and attacks Charles Barkley have not read the book but what is with ppple that they feel the need to write books and make money by attacking someone they worked with or played with for example Scottie attacked Jordan in his book and Phil Jackson talked about Coaching Kobie on his book now in the enforcer Oakely is talking about his beef with Barkley . I think a part of this is that Barkley and Jordan were close friends and Oskley was close freinds with Jordan too. I think Barkley used to dislike Oakley and to ld Jordan to get rid of Oakly and Jordan wouldn't do it..So now that Jordan is no longer freind with Barkley due to a misunderstanding Oakley wants to rub it in hes still freinds with Jordan but he also wrote a book talking against Barkley bc Scottie wrote one against Jordan, and he thinks he can make money writing negative stuff just like Scottie.
    I thinks hes copying the antics of Scottie by writing a revenge style scandal book how negative of him and Scottie to write these kinds of books they are trying to get paid putting others down in the long run you dont win or benefit from hurting others bc Karma will come back to get you.I wish Oakley well with the his ventures, the cooking show and his restaurant but I'm not touching his book or Scotties book. Barkley's one of my favorite players along with Magic and Larry Bird and Issiah, don't think Barkley should be attacked like this in a book just bc he was freinds with Jorfan someone should ask Oakley what is the real beef with ca Barkley is he Jealous bc Barkley was a great player scorer and rebounder is he Jealous of of Barkley career as a player and sports broadcaster and bc Barkley used to call him the help what is the real deal with this book?Oakley is in some type of Scandal stuff with this book I think.
