holy shit somebody reviewed stardust I honestly thought I imagined or dreamt this movie as a kid.
Same, it was a huge revelation for me when he started talking about it
Same I remember seeing this movie as a kid and feeling like it was just a stupid dream I had but nah fam it was real
@@rickriot8743 Neil gaiman, same writer as coraline, American gods and good omen
I could never forget those eyes...
All of those EYES!
palaniuki probably why it was so crazy. I gotta say I am a fan of that writers work whoever they are
a history of violence: "I'm not tryna spoil"
stardust: *literally says the entire plot beginning to end*
He left out the amazing voodoo-Septimus scene, though.
He doesn't want to spoil movies he thinks are good.
That's true you got me
He also left out the wall guard beating up the main character
Knowing the plot doesn't really ruin the film since he likes the film for how ridiculous it is.
The book Stardust is based on is relatively straightforward and even dark at times.
The movie on the other hand... is delightfully insane.
I was so shocked when I was flipping through the comic and saw the decapitated unicorn. The movie has led me astray!
@i nyru i Does Eragon have a Robert de Queero swashbuckler?
Fuzzy Dunlop I’m crying
The guy's blood was blue because he was royalty. Get it?
GET IT!?
Well it's like they say: he who laughs last, thinks slowest.
yes visual pun!
Yeh
I don't get it
in ye olde times the rich basically never went outside and as such were very pale.
when you are pale like I am/they were you can see veins/arteries/whatever which look blue and because their understanding of biology at the time was so terrible this led to the common misconception that nobles and royalty had blue blood instead of red.
i thought you were joking when you said he was a homosexual pirate
But no.
Literal butt pirate.
That Robert de nior dance is the most amazing thing I've ever seen.
Robert Di Nior is my favorite cologne.
@@fuzzydunlop7928 hahahaha
Nah the lauugh
Bobby Black is my favorite french futurist garage pop new wave band
*Roberto de nior
His blood is blue. Because he's a Noble. So he was LITERALLY a blue blood (Euphemism for "of Noble blood.")
though possibly also a way to keep a low rating in cinemas... they dont take to kindly to footage of people having their throats slit and showing realistic blood pouring out.
euphenism isn't the right word
will sim Euphenism isn't a word
D’YA GET IT?!?!
Holy hell, I saw Stardust forever ago but couldn't remember it's name! I fucking loved Stardust, thank you for this.
Skugg why do you even like it?
Box of Reality it's honestly kinda fun and lighthearted.
Box of Reality It was years ago, I was a real little kid.
Skugg same here :)
Make it 5
Stardust is made an even better story when you realize that the blonde guy who was going to marry Owen's love interest IS the Man of Steel.
Nathan Bud and daredevil is in it
Bruce Willis is a national treasure
"No I loved this film!"
Bruce: "Oh yeah, yeah?"
3:29 That's some Princess Bride level comedy, I'm going to watch Stardust right now!!
I watched it at some point and it's not amazing, but it's just a really good, fun, kids film that just takes fairy tale logic and just completely runs with it. It's entertaining, full of fun moments, and while the story's not great it's good enough for what it is and just revels in how weird and out there this world is.
funny you should say that...
princess bride is the closest thing i can compare stardust to. i almost think of it as a spiritual successor
V for Vendetta was not made by the Wachowskis. They wrote it, but a guy named James McTeigue actually directed it.
Dylan Baldwin I thought that was Alan Moore?
Jah N no it’s definitely McTeigue
+Jah N Yeah Alan Moore wrote it
+Jah N Alan Moore wrote the graphic novel that the film was based on
Surrrrrre. McTeigue “directed” V for Vendetta. Literally none of his other films show the craftsmanship shown in this movie.
I watched Stardust when I was little. It was a bit boring but every time I walked out the room and back in it was like seeing a different movie each time because the scenes were so friggin bizarre I would have the trippiest dreams from that movie
I love the fact that you don't just review superhero movies because of the heroes.
You review these movies just like they are: movies
Keep being blunt, my friend.
I didn't know Daredevil was in Stardust.
Rasheed Amir And the douchey love interest of the first girl that Tristan likes is Superman.
My dumbass went : what ben affleck is in the movie?
Neither did I
I love how Stardust and Boardwalk Empire introduced me to Daredevil, so when he was cast I was legit pumped and proven right that he would be awesome
Stardust is an awesome movies and the book that the comic and movie is based off of is really good 2
Thumbed up for Tool.
Dead Master still waiting on that new album though, and they said it be out before the end of 2016
Connor Cooke Wasn't there some legal trouble?
thats been cleared up, its more they rarely give updates on the new album and last time we heard anything it was said the album would be released before the end of 2016
Connor Cooke it's an overrated flick
Watching stardust every December is a tradition in my family, it is damn amazing.
24:34 ok but that's honestly hilarious, I gotta give Bruce credit for having the balls to do that
Holly shit. Stardust actually wasn't some fever dream I had when I was 10.
Stardust is one of my all-time favorite movies. Not sure if anyone has pointed this out yet or not, but the reason that guy has blue blood is because he's royalty. Like royal blue.
Yeah sure
Stardust is my heart.
You’re heartless?
No joke, watching Stardust on acid is one of the most incredible cinematic experiences you can possibly achieve.
ok you definitely sold me on Stardust
Chris Evans and his Superhero roles are a prime example of
If you don't succeed
Try
*Try*
*TRY*
Again
I feel like his best performances are in Knives Out and Scott Pilgrim. And he knocks it out of the park in Snowpiercer
When you did the description for Stardust I never at one point had any clue whatsoever was going on
Can't wait till you do Fant4stic!
I can't wait to see his reaction to that.
this guy is seriously like my favourite youtuber right now...
he deserves much more subs
I loved stardust because I was 7 when I first saw it, and it's just nostalgia now
Milan Hammond nostalgia, nostalgia,nostalgia... It's the worst excuse to like a bad movie ever.
Good thing Stardust is a pretty decent movie then.
eating raw faces is my least favorite thing to do. I used to watch Johnny Test when i was 8, guess what i feel about it now?
SOMEONE IS TALKING ABOUT STARDUST HOLY SHIT MY LOVE!!! MATTHEW VAUGHN IS GREAT
I am so happy seeing all the Stardust love in this comment section.
Stardust is a masterpiece of insanity.
Bro, I'm happy you liked Stardust. You hit the nail on the head. It's not the best movie But it dam sure is entertaining.
I liked Red. just a fun movie
Liam Beaumont
Josh R I agree. I thought the cast played really well off of each other, and that their diverse clashing personalities were great.
Red 2 was good too. Had Byung-Hun Lee in it.
STARDUST! finally someone mentions it
Road to Perdition is one of my most favorite scores. Thomas Newman is an underrated composer who has yet to earn the same accolades as his cousin Randy.
6:35 It makes perfect sense, light makes her sleepy in the same way the dark makes us sleepy.
Actually Stardust was a book written by Neil Gaiman. It was only adapted as a comic book by DC.
Techt actually a comic by Vertigo comics, an indie company owned by DC
I had never heard of Stardust until my second year of secondary school, where my Spanish teacher, who really didn’t care about our education that much, put the film on because she was sad that her boyfriend dumped her, and didn’t really fancy teaching Spanish for 2 hours. But she did put Spanish subtitles on, so if someone walked in she could claim it was related to the lesson and teaching the language. So I have a weird fondness and nostalgia for this movie
¿Y aprendiste español?
we saw stardust in class and we're doing a project on it later, lol
damn
John Constantine is a superhero AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ok I'm happy now
He's not.
A123 B456 he is
Cole Soderstrom Have you even read Hellblazer?
antihero
Not really
My grandma told me I should watch the losers and that I would like it, she was found dead in her sleep the next day
The Losers? more like the B Team! M I Rite
More like the H-Team! For Hecking Awful.
OLE SammyOLE what are we some kind of loser squad?
Was “Losers” not degrading enough?
stardust is directed by one of my favourite directors, I think it's not his best work but it's a pretty damn entertaining and well made movie
I absolutely love the Road to Perdition soundtrack...I think it’s hauntingly beautiful and helps set the tone of a dark and serious movie. So now I will issue a death threat to you, Ralph...watch your back...even though that’s physically impossible.
i choked on my own stomach acid when you started ripping on the music from *_Road to Perdition._* not only is it one my favorite scores by my FAVORITE composer, it's _one of my favorite scores EVER._ i also don't mind the narrative framing device; it gives th_ do you not dig the score??? it baffles my boggled brains.
you must not have heard alot of scores then holy shit
Bijinius Cross You can tell Ralph said a lot of thoughtless bullshit in this video and he mumbles across the films instead of giving inspired takes on them. Not his best work. He got better with time.
I thought the same thing! I adore the score of this film and it fits so perfectly. I dont know what hes talking about with it not being memorable or standing out I could recognize it almost immediately to this day. I guess other movies have more...."exciting" scores? But that would be entirely out of place in Road to Perdition.
V was *produced* by the wachowskis, not directed. (which is probably why it was actually good, instead of overbloated garbage)
The Losers was so hokey but so much fun I really love it
Stardust is incredible. Favorite movie next to Hot Fuzz
Just a heads up. The Warchowski brothers are sisters now. Just FYI.
Unchained With The Captain brother and sister*
JaXon I thought they were both Trans now.
At the time of making the movie they were brothers so in that context I'd say its okay to refer to them as the Wachowski Brothers.
Jonathan Sefcik You cant change your gender so i will still call them brothers
We now live in a time where we could have a Warchowski Brothers,
or Sister and bother
or Sisters movie.
Regarding Stardust: Neil Gaiman breaks all narrative rules, which is what makes his works great :-D
Just wanted to say that as a person who appreciates comics as a medium I'm glad you covered some non-super hero comic movies. Keep up the good work!
Thank you for reminding me how much I love Stardust.
Anyone else ever tried trimming their pubic hair and ended up having a burning itch for a week?
VeryUnfriendlySpoon Do It property you dumbass
Spell it properly, you dumbass.
VeryUnfriendlySpoon gg
bruh
god damn john wick is so fucking awesome
The funnest part of Ralph's videos is listening to the music he uses in the background that's sped up or pitch shifted and trying to find out what it is.
btw Star Dust was done by Matthew Vaughn, who can't stop doing comic book movies
Jonny Lupus he also directed the great Layer Cake.
There's also Eddie the Eagle. Based on a real guy, also pretty good in my opinion.
Stardust was such a good movie...
John Wick was fucking awesome.
Stardust was a movie I really loved as a kid and it’s good to know it’s still as entertaining as I remember
I have been waiting for this video thx😺
please work on automating the volume levels of all of the sounds. killin here.
this, annoyed af to turn the noise down so I don't wake up my roommate when scene from movies is on screen with the audio
There's about an 8-10 db difference between Ralph's speaking parts and the explosions, according to my receiver.
Ralph needs to do some work on his levels.
Yeah explosions are louder than some guy talking. I'm all like double u tee eff?
D Y N A M I C C O M P R E S S I O N
Ralph you should watch the daredevil TV show if you haven't already
I just realized something. I think the guy who plays the main character (the son) is Charlie Cox
That scene from V was incredible.
Stardust is based on a book, not a comix
That explains a lot.
There's a graphic novel for it as well which is what I'm guessing is meant by it being DC
What about a comic book?
3:18 so that's where jared leto got his joker laugh
Stardust is a great movie!
Erc Wal
V for Vendetta is one of those movies that I watched a while ago, and only vaguely remember, but cause of this, I’ll give it another watch.
regarding the princes blood in stardust: blueblood is a british term for a person with royal blood, hope this helps
It's been said, but Thomas Newman's score in Road to Perdition was absolutely fantastic.
V for Vendetta is awesome indeed.
Bruce Willis having an interview about Red 2 reminded me that the man had emotions at all.
Pulp fiction must have been a type cast
Having watched the reprisal video before this one here, i totally lost it at the red section. Thank you Ralph for making me genuinely laugh ✌
I liked Age of Ultron, but i can see why other people don't like it. It does have pacing issues, it's long, it's disjointed, and there are scenes that serve no purpose to the plot except for fan service.
how the hell are some of these movies from DC??
Not all comic books are cheesy super hero stories, just like how not all anime is Naruto!
This shit is weird af
Naruto Uzumaki it's called imprints. They are comics wrote by people that is published by dc but doesn't really have anything to do with their universe
aquaman is also weird shit if you think about it
All comic books are fucking gay. Its for autistic people who can barely read.
I agree with everything you said!...except the violins in Road to Perdition. That soundtrack was amazing for me, because I felt it gave the scenes a calming serenity, when in reality they were harsh and violent. However, when the scenes change, so does the violin in subtle ways that I really enjoyed. Maybe because I’m a violinist myself I’m a bit biased lol, but it was a great piece of music. Give it a listen on it’s own!
Stardust is one of my favorite movies auhauaha I love how it doesn’t take itself seriously and I always manage some good laughs and it never fails to entertain me. Like you said, it’s not good but I love it. I didn’t know it was from DC!
07:28 his blood is blue because he's royal, duuuuuh
although disappointed with age of ultron I still liked it. but that ending was HILARIOUS
Pretty happy to see other people have watched Stardust. It's a nice little film if you want something light to watch
I just watched stardust. Thank you so much!
That fucking laugh xd
Gay Robert De Niro is my fucking spirit animal.
Goth fucking Mark Strong gawking in the back is my spirit animal.
Stardust! I used to love that movie so much when I was a kid
Stardust is actually amazing. It never takes itself too seriously and the sets, costumes and acting are pretty great. It's overall a nice film.
I personally enjoyed avengers 2
Kevin Reynart I don't enjoy any modern superhero movies, until I saw Logan, a glint of hope that we may get back to the times of the creative visionaries and interesting character studies, but then again people like money so fuck my ass that's not happening anytime soon
Even in a non superhero movie you have Daredevil and Superman.
Man. Some of these movies I want to re watch now.
I used to actually consider the Constantine game my all time favorite game, I was in middle school so
so Daredevil was in DC BEFORE? If you know what i mean
also cap was in dc
+Sean Eredia heimdall too...
gamora too....
also red skull...
lol no he wasn't
There's some interesting points to be made here and most of the time I'm in agreement with these reviews, but I really can't get behind "A History of Violence". It's a story about a guy that was a terrible person and killed people, then he tried to be a good guy and still ends up killing a bunch of people.
Yeah you could argue that he didn't have much choice as his past caught up with him, but I find it hard to sympathize or empathize with a character that rapes his wife on the stairs at one point (that is what that is, you know, she didn't want that at all, it just progressed into a sex scene because the film makers knew they couldn't commit completely to it, but it was a rape).
Furthermore, William Hurt's performance in this flick was over-the-top goofy and while it got a chuckle or two out of me, it clashed horribly with the overall tone of the movie, which is dark and unpleasant and TOO dark and unpleasant for me to really enjoy.
Gakusangi no if wasn't rape she wanted it then.
Stardust is so underrated. I have watched it so many times and i still love it to this day.
The Losers i liked more than A Team reboot film. Its fun overall.
Road to Perdition is great. Tom hanks does an epic performance.
V for Vendetta is one of my all time favorite films.
Stardust is so nostalgic for me. I absolutely love it
LOL, Daredevil and Superman are both in Stardust, Captain America, Gamora and Heimdall are in The Losers, the Ancient One is in Constantine.
V was ok but it should have been so much more
like what?
VfV had everything
Road to Perdition is one of my favorite films. And the cinematography is some of this Century's best. No exaggeration. And the score by Mr. Newman is brilliant. You Good Sir are wrong and I'm right.
Yo I totally agree with all of your opinions man keep making videos they are great
LOL I have the exact same opinion about generic orchestral music
Actually Ralph seems to have complained more about the use of violins... he said "if it was a good orchestral score" which is kind of a bland statement, most orchestral scores are kind of generic by default... because _every movie_ thinks it needs an orchestra to be dramatic. I'm not even entirely sure what he's complaining about with Road to Perdition. I said in a different comment that on some small level, I agree with him, but when I think back, not only can I remember the score from Road to Perdition, but the only thing I can really compare it to is Shawshank Redemption. While a lot of people have tried to rip that off over the years, I'm hard pressed to name many of them, unlike the scores from shit like The Avengers, or War of the Worlds that are fucking _everywhere._ So naming any movie at all, there's like a 7 in 10 chance it's scored like that - *that's* the generic orchestral score.
charlie cox was in Stardust? DD came a long way
I love Stardust. (Also love it as a Kingsman fan, since so many actors from Kingsman are in it, or make small cameos)
This was the most interesting one by far. I really didn't know a lot of those movies were part of the DC universe. That does explain some things... Anyway, I quite enjoyed the ones you mentioned here.
