Fantastic video and informative. Confidence builder. I’m going to double check my wiring now on my Pro Master van, the A/C hasn’t worked for a year now and the pressure is fine in lines. What would you make of this same system, 2013 model, blowing cold sometimes, other times won’t blow cold?
Shop told me it was my ecm thinking same problem or high pressure side
I got my compressor replaced 8 months ago with a new one. I didnt use it during the winter . It cost me 1565 to get replaced . The mechanic called me after he replaced compressor with one i provided then he asked if i wanted the ac charged up and filled . I was quoted 950 the dealership only wanted 700. I felt like i couldtnt say no once he already had started the job so i said yes go ahead and do it . He said ok . He called me back in 15 min and said come get your truck is done . I was kinda shocked . I had read it took over an hour to do the full recharging process . They charged me 200 for the recharge 350 for the freon 25 for the pag 46 oil and 1.5 total hours of labour 180. It cost me 725 and he said he took money off. I checked ac when job was finished . It wasnt icy cold like i expected .But other than that everything was fine. I hadnt used it all winter so for the past 6 months . I tryed it today and the compressor clutch isnt kicking in ? I check the 10 amp relay fuse its fine . I dont understand . This cost me 1575 8 months ago. Please someone help me . Excellent vid sir. If you had my ram wouldnt it take longer than 15 mins to do a vacuum check and full recharge ? It felt to me at the time that there was no more work to be done on vehicle he already had it done . Or maybe he only put enough freon in to last a couple of months. They charge me 18 times 15.95plus tax for refridgerant which he had all done in 15 min or less ?? Now my compressor clutch wont turn on 8 months later ?? this is crazy . I paid 1150 for brakes 5 months ago as well . I cant afford this is crazy please help me sir. Or anyone who knows what is wrong or how process goes for ram 1500 2016
You need to find out if the refrigerant has leaked out which it probably has and if so demand that shop figure out where it is leaking and fix it. Hopefully they gave you a warranty.
Check and make sure the 15amp fuse ( Fuse F62 if remember right) for the A/C clutch has power to it. 12 volts on both sides of the fuse.
My clutch tries to spin but does not spinn fully with the pulley, it just recently stopped working, i checked fuses, not blown called around and everyone just can get the whole compression system, i want to replace just the clutch, the link provided isnt available anymore
I had some jack ass Jeep Dealership mechanics in Hollywood FL monkey wrench and destroy my connector going to the ac compressor clutch. Turns out without releasing the red safety tab a mechanic had forced it onto the plug in turn backing out the wires. I noticed each time I push down on the plug the clutch would engage and I'd get cold air, but positionally or with extra vibrations it could become disconnected and blow warm air. Noone takes the time to slow down and pay attention to details anymore yet want to get 125+ hourly for labor, punk ass generation young and old, truly only a few diamonds in the rough when it comes to mechanics nowadays.
What about when the clutch engages, but the compressor does not seem to come on? My compressor does not make that increases engine sound like that one at the 8min mark.
If the clutch is engaging then the compressor is turning.
I would have dabbed a little goop over the two holes they poked, since you already had it out. Otherwise, got lucky on this one. :)
I ended up getting the two holes after it was all finished. I initially forgot while the camera was on.
Could I cut wires and bypass the connector?
Sure.
Bought a truck the clutch was so bad, you could see the bearings, got first nap ring off they started falling out. Must have got real hot a lot because it tore the flange off of the pump for the first snap ring. New one just arrived. It comes with no oil but I got some pag 46, should I add it . I don't want it to fry out on way to get a charge.
If you are just replacing the clutch without evacuating the system do not add the oil.
@@737mechanic can't replace clutch, flange holding snap ring is broke, I have to replace the whole compressor, but come with no oil. I just don't want it burning out from no lubricant before I can get to shop for refill

The wire to the AC compressor has no power jump the AC compressor and clutch does work. The wire has no power. All the fuse work and hae power to them. Where do i go from here
Make sure the refriderant is full then I would go to the relay and see if you can jumper it there and kick the compressor on. You need to check the pressure switch and evap temp sensor. Also check the wiring.
