    Such valuable information. I wish I had known about diabetic foods a very long time ago. I had a sudden onset of cloudy blurred vision and thought
    I needed new glasses. My eye exam revealed cataracts.
    This video shows eating the right foods can help reduce your blood glucose levels. Sadly information for poor people who have diabetes is not readily available unless your aggressive in fighting with medi-cal to see a nutritionist. I thought all I had to do is not eat sweets and my levels would drop.
    Thank you for this great video. Hopefully I can save my eyes from further damage.

      Sugar is a carbohydrate because it’s molecular structure is C6-H12-O6
      Carbon + hydrogen + oxygen makes up sugar. When the Carbohydrate
      bonds are broken(we call that digestion) it releases energy. The energy we call calories in food. Carbohydrate foods are high in energy but the body can slow the absorption of the sugar by eating fiber or protein at the same time. Carbohydrates are simple structures but protein and fats are complex molecular structures that take longer the break apart which is why they don’t cause a spike in blood glucose. So eat fats like olive oil by using it to cook or drizzle on vegetables and eat plenty of protein with each meal. Try to eat complete meals and avoid snacking as much as possible. Avocados are also rich in oil, black olives hens olive oil, most nuts like walnuts too. Eat proteins with your carbohydrates so you can enjoy the benefits if both and maintain a healthy blood sugar level. FYI I personally don’t eat any nuts or seeds at all except as oils because for me it raises my blood sugar too high. It’s unusual but I just have to accept the results of testing myself after eating 😢 11:58

    As a diabetic 2 human, I have to say just eat small normal portions, stay away from empty carbs and sweets . My doctor said just eat normal, a variety of fruits veggies and lean meat. I tried to be vegan, and total vegetarian, and deprive myself of breads, oils, eggs, ect.
    It was not helpful. I am 5 ft 3 , 113 lbs. My sugar was and still is a roller coaster, it's not easy, but there can be a balance.

      @DiabeticsTalk  Před rokem

      Thank you for your kind words. Okra can indeed be a beneficial vegetable for managing blood sugar levels. It is low in carbohydrates and rich in fiber, which can help regulate blood sugar spikes. Raw okra, in particular, may have additional benefits due to its high content of soluble fiber. However, it's important to note that individual responses to foods can vary, so it's always a good idea to monitor your blood sugar levels and consult with a healthcare professional or registered dietitian for personalized advice. They can help you incorporate okra and other suitable foods into a balanced diet that supports your blood sugar management goals.

    Does Banana flower, Murunga leaves and Neem leaves reduce blood sugar

    • @DiabeticsTalk
      @DiabeticsTalk  Před rokem

      There is some evidence to suggest that banana flower, moringa (Murunga) leaves, and neem leaves may have blood sugar-lowering properties. However, more research is needed to fully understand the mechanisms behind these effects and to determine the appropriate dosages and potential side effects.
      It's important to speak with your healthcare provider before incorporating these or any other new foods or supplements into your diet to ensure they are safe and appropriate for you. Additionally, lifestyle factors such as regular exercise and a balanced diet are key components of blood sugar management for people with diabetes.

      As a diabetic who is also taking warfarin, it is important to be careful with your intake of green leafy vegetables as they can interact with the medication and affect your blood clotting. However, this does not mean that you have to completely avoid them. It is important to discuss with your doctor and a registered dietitian to determine a safe and balanced intake of greens in your diet.
      In terms of forgetting where to take your insulin shot, it may be helpful to establish a routine or set reminders to ensure that you do not miss any doses. You can also consider using tools such as insulin pens with dose memory or insulin pumps with reminders.
      It is important to continue to educate yourself about diabetes and work closely with your healthcare team to manage your condition effectively. They can provide you with information and resources to help you maintain a healthy lifestyle and manage your diabetes and warfarin use appropriately.

    I hate these magic words...Spirulina "may" lower blood sugar.
    10 - Leafy greens
    9 - broccoli
    8 - okra
    7 - kohlrabi
    6 - brussel sprouts
    5 - green beans
    4 - spirulina
    3 - avocado
    2 - ginseng
    1 - artichoke

    • @DiabeticsTalk
      @DiabeticsTalk  Před rokem

      We understand your frustration with statements that use words like "may" when discussing the potential effects of a substance like Spirulina on blood sugar levels. It is common for scientific studies to use cautious language and indicate that further research is needed to establish definitive conclusions.
      Spirulina, a type of blue-green algae, has been studied for its potential health benefits, including its impact on blood sugar control. Some studies suggest that Spirulina may have a positive effect on blood sugar regulation due to its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. However, the research in this area is still evolving, and more robust studies are needed to establish a clear cause-and-effect relationship.
      It's important to remember that individual responses to supplements can vary, and what works for one person may not work the same way for another. If you have concerns about blood sugar management or are considering incorporating Spirulina into your routine, it's best to consult with a healthcare professional who can provide personalized advice based on your specific health needs and circumstances. They can help you make informed decisions about your diet, lifestyle, and any potential supplements.

    Which fruit has no sugar?

    • @DiabeticsTalk
      @DiabeticsTalk  Před rokem +1

      No fruit is completely devoid of sugar, as natural sugars are present in varying amounts in fruits. However, some fruits are relatively lower in sugar content compared to others. Here are a few examples:
      Berries: Berries such as strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries are generally lower in sugar compared to many other fruits.
      Avocado: While technically a fruit, avocados are low in sugar and high in healthy fats.
      Lemons and limes: These citrus fruits have a tart flavor and are lower in sugar compared to sweeter fruits.
      Tomatoes: Although commonly considered a vegetable, tomatoes are technically a fruit and have relatively lower sugar content.
      Rhubarb: Rhubarb is a vegetable that is often used in sweet dishes, but it has a low sugar content.
      It's important to note that even though these fruits have lower sugar content, they still provide various nutrients and can be part of a balanced and healthy diet. Consult with a healthcare professional or registered dietitian for personalized guidance on fruit selection and portion sizes, especially if you have specific dietary needs or medical conditions such as diabetes.

      Permanent diabetes, also known as Type 1 diabetes, is an autoimmune condition where the body's immune system mistakenly attacks and destroys the insulin-producing cells in the pancreas.
