- Empanadas are a very common appetizer in all Spanish speaking countries. Each country (and each city sometimes) has a different way of making empanadas. Watch Cody's first attempt at making them. Maria will judge his attempt at creating this fried Colombian staple.

El ají (salsa de ají) es una salsa picante. En Colombia se hace con vinagre, agua, cilantro, cebolla, tomate y ají. La receta es diferente en cada país y puedes agregarlo a casi cualquier comida.

Where I live in the US we eat them as a desert, we fill them with mermelada de manzana o piña. My favorite is the one with a puré de camote, azúcar y canela.

In the ingredients you wrote EL agua which is correct. A lot of beginners think that it should be "La" agua since agua ends with the letter a, feminine. Another common mistake would be: "La" problema, correct use is EL problema. Gracias por su video, felicitaciones. (Native Spanish speaker here, btw)

No. I don't really use parcero or parce. Parce and parcero are slang and it's probably a famous word in Colombia for "amigo". I never say it though.

I love this channel. I am determined to learn Spanish, and I have just started on my journey. However, I am confused about the pronunciation of the letter "ll." I find multiple channels, including this one pronounce this letter with 2 distinctly different sounds - sometimes the English "y" sound, and sometimes the English "j" sound. Are these pronunciations interchangeable? Please clarify this letter sound for me. I can read it with confidence, but when it comes to listening to Spanish, the two different pronunciations through me off, especially since the same speaker uses both phonetic pronunciations in the same conversation. :) Thank you so much for such an enlightening and fun channel. I have picked up on a lot more Spanish with your video exercises. Gracias!
I pronounce the "ll" like an English "y" because that's the most common pronunciation I hear and it's the most natural for me. If the native speakers around me are pronouncing it like a "y" entonces para mi, esa es la manera correcta de pronunciarlo
