- Welcome to Movie Shortens. Vincent Freeman (Ethan Hawke) has always dreamed to travel to space. However, in this futuristic world, his status as a genetically inferior "in-valid" keeps him grounded. He decides to fight his fate by purchasing the genes of a "valid" athlete Jerome Morrow (Jude Law). He adopts Jerome's DNA and joins the Gattaca space program. Here he meets and falls in love with Irene (Uma Thurman), also a valid crew member. Vincent's plans are complicated by an investigation into the death of a Gattaca officer. What would be his fate after all?

Thanks for watching!
Brilliant movie, watched it many times because it has so many details in dialogs, in the background scenes and even in the lighting that you don't see the first time, but when you do later...incredible, the depth.
I hate that I forgot about this movie
Saw this in my Science class. Taught me fate is not absolute.
Great message.
Me too.
Genetics are only a piece of you.
Why'll nature is ok to study trying to mass change it without any reason but productivity would be dangerous for a gene pool.
Me three lol
I saw this in freshman bio in highschool
its an absolute masterpiece. worth watching! also nice recap!
Glad you enjoyed it!
You know I've watched this many times. I've always had a bit of trouble understanding Anton. I guess he really buys into what society tells him. He truly believed that Vincent was inferior so if he succeeds his world collapses. He is proven wrong when Vincent beats him swimming. So he lets it go I guess.
I think there's also a levle of protectiveness, that he thinks his brother is killing himself over this. He finally understands Vincint can atually succeed when he's beaten.
Moreover there's something of "I have to be the best" in all the valids, they were born to be perfect anything less than that is falier.
Who are they if not the best of the best? It's everything they have.
This is more apparent in Jerome but it shoes up in Anton too. And Irene, and it's hinted at in the piano player I think
I truly loved this movie, I saw this movie when I was younger. It’s why I am about to graduate from university with bachelors degree in computer science. All my life because of moving, I was put in slow classes, told I was never amount to much. Spent more my 20’s just going through the motions. While having siblings who are nurses and doctors and chemist. God never gave up on me, and in the water scene mad me tear up. Because no one has the right to determine the limitations of another human being. As he told his brother he worked hard to get where he is. When I walk off that stage in May, I got there because I didn’t give up on myself. That’s the lesson I took from this movie!
You have my respect man! You did it all by ur own, never give up brother. Congrstulations :)
@@gibusgibus6540 thanks 😊!!
Have seen this movie, it's one of the best movie that captures the viewers perspective, feeling sad about jerome and same time happy for anton... Even though I have seen the movie but still prefer to view recap.
Mis quoted the best line... He beats his brother swimming because he never saved anything for the swim back.
I enjoy your recaps. Direct and to the point...
This is one of my favorite movies. I saw it when it came out when I was a kid. It seemed impossible to me at the time. My friend's older brother told me they could already do some of it and my mind was blown. Lol I could see a world where we are less aware and this could happen.
One of the greatest movies ever made in my humble opinion
Amazing 😊
I remember this one. We watched it in class one day.
subtitles say that Vincent died in the inscinerator, what the hell
Jerome crawled into the incinerator and killed himself, while Vincent raced towards Titan.
Loved this movie
I watched this movie back in high school.
I wish to work for your channel as an editor. Please let me know if you have any openings. Thanks!
You forgot to mention the part where Jerome goes into the incinerator and burns himself to death
yeah this was really metal, teacher had to "censor" this for us
Movie name please
I remember when I first watched this I had to rewatch the movie 5 or 6 times because how confusing it was I was thinking that I had caught everything that I could second time then I realized that I missed somethings and rewatched it a couple more times before the VHS got ate by the VCR I forgot how it ended
Hey could you like add the movie title to the video title? I'd watch more videos of yours if I knew what the movie was at first glace
It's mentioned and shown in the first 5 seconds. Gattaca.
@@WreckerR My comment specifically says the youtube title. I want to know the movie before clicking on the clickbait title.
I don't understand the end someone please help explain! Did the spaceship blow up? Did Jerome give the hair because he knew he would die and so he wanted to fake his death? I don't understand.
real Jerome ends his own life after Vincent leaves for Titan. The ship doesn't blow up, it's just the cinematography of the fire killing Jerome mirroring the fire of the ship taking Vincent to space.
Or you know, just watch the movie, it;s a really good movie
i ended up first seeing this in high school literature class as it was the closet movie there was to Brave New World at the time.
Wow.. Tod is reality
Tony Shahloub!!!!!!!!
i remember my teacher showed us this movie after reading a book or something about this
Hi
I don’t get the fire scene with Jerome
Yo
Just like today let me see that degree paper so you can get this job.
Its not in the future , its happening now
Are teacher showed this in 4th grade Highschool science.
You can do this irl
Ok so I LOVE this movie, like I love it, but I don't often see people discuss the way this movie has a difference between perceived disabilities and *atuall* disabilities, not to mention the toxic "persist till you die" mentality presented in the movie.
How Vincent always pushes and pushed beyond what's safe and healthy and how that could be deadly or tragic if not properly discussed.
That being said I LOVE this movie, I love it.
saw this is bio class
This movie is the moon landing if hitler won the war
I wanted a movie. Not a future documentary of humanity.
Imagine gingers just stop existing
Guthikkah??
