UnitedSim.Co Motion Sim R&D Build Specs & Details:
This sim build is the culmination of being an enthusiast and having two full sim rigs prior to this one. After owning the other two rigs, I finally figured out exactly what it was I wanted in a high end sim rig. Being a tinkerer and enjoying the build process, I had decided that I wanted to build this rig myself doing as much of it from scratch as I could. The result is what you see here.
I have somewhere between 3k & 5k hours now on the rig and I’m proud to say that it has been flawless!
It was because of this build that I was inspired to now launch United Sim Co. The journey of building 3 simulators exposed so many different areas of the sun industry that made me think that not only could we make learning about and shopping for simulator parts & accessories easier. But also give enthusiasts of all experience levels a place to congregate, share ideas, seek support and just generally share in the hobby we all have come to love.
So while this simulator won’t be exactly what we sell. Much of what we will build, produce, and sell will have been inspired by this simulator or by the journey of building this rig.
CHASSIS SPECIFICATIONS:
Chassis: It started as a Heusinkveld Pro GT 80/20 extruded aluminum rig that I stripped down and heavily altered and modified from a standard GT rig to a custom adjustable Formula style rig.
Monitor Stand: DIY triple monitor custom build I did using my old Heusinkveld GT chassis triple mount brackets & sourced 80/20 w/ custom wall mount adjustable monitor mounts. Uses 5” rubber caster wheels.
Wheel: Moza R16 DD w/ 200mm Moza shaft extension. FSR Formula Wheel w/ custom suede grips from Pineapple Grips & Billet Encoder Knobs by SimuBox. Also have a Moza CS Round Wheel & Moza KS 300mm GT wheel.
Pedals: Heusinkveld Ultimate+ Gas & Brake. Both are tuned using the Heusinkveld LIVE software with profiles for different vehicles.
Pedal Mount: Trak-Racer Risers & Heusinkveld Billet Pedal Plate
Handbrake & Shifter: Heusinkveld OG Handbrake & Sequential Shifter
Seat: Sparco GP Monocoque in Red. Also uses Sparco GP seat brackets that allow you to position the seat up or down and also lean the seat into full Formula position like it is now or lean it up to use as a hybrid formula / GT seat. It also has many removable velcro backed pads for positioning into the most comfortable for you position.
Monitors: Triple 32” Samsung G5 1000r curved 1440p 165hz w/ ASUS Bezel Delete Kit & 32” 3D printed extensions
Quad Monitor: 27” Asus 1080p 120hz
Quad Monitor Mount: Trak-Racer
Sim Lighting: Dual Phillips Hue Play Bars mounted to 3D printed adjustable mounts designed for 80/20 sim chassis mounting. The system includes and uses a Hue hub to connect to the PC & the Phillips Hue app and is then synced to the monitors where you select a position on the monitors for the lights to sync with and then provide simulated lighting such as driving in & out of shadows or through rows of street lights.
Sim Wind: Red-ion dual fan simulated wind system w/ anodized aluminum outlets.
Dash: Custom built in-house using polycarbonate and wrapped in 3D carbon fiber vinyl and Alcantara material.
SFX100 MOTION SPECIFICATIONS:
Motion: DIY SFX100 w/ 4x AASD stepper motor actuators w/ ball & screw linear shafts with travel of 100mm that I’ve limited to 60mm. This is a 3 Degrees Of force (3DOF) motion system that allows real vehicle telemetry to move the entire chassis up, down (heave), side to side (sway & roll), forward & back (surge & pitch). The motors also can simulate haptics such as ABS, Traction Loss, Curbs, and Engine vibration.
Motion Controller: Thanos AMC AASD w/ the ability to push up to 6 AASD stepper motor drivers. The controller delivers the vehicle telemetry to the actuators. Sim Racing Studio software is where all of the custom motion tuning takes place. This data is then sent to the Thanos controller and then pushed to the chassis in real time. It’s a flawless system with highly intuitive tuning capabilities that allow you to create custom motion tunes for every car you drive. You can set a standard universal tune to be able to drive any car with any sim and have motion. Or you can choose to tune each car for each track should you choose and save them. SRS then auto switches to the tunes once you have them saved. It’s simple and amazing software.
