Popeye's has small pieces of chicken, decent though. Chic-fila, okay. The quality of Church's chicken fell off, no flavor. KFC does not ensure that chicken is thoroughly cooked. El Pollo Local's chicken is DRY. Although there are now few franchises, Golden Bird and Pioneer Chicken are not as good as they used to be used to be back in the day. Crispy chicken does not necessarily need to have cayenne pepper on it. Have found "dough-like, uncooked" pieces at KFC. Look at your chicken before leaving people!

I've been a huge fan of Popeye's Chicken for years now. I liked the fact that they had sides that many other chicken places didn't have - specifically, cajun rice and jambalaya. During, and after, the pandemic, the locations near me (Southern CA) dropped these two sides from their menus. I'm pretty sure this change is company-wide too. I'm still staying with them, but I really miss those two sides. I'm hoping Popeye's management will come to its senses and bring them back.

Part of my job is to fry and bake chicken - 8-piece, whole birds, and tenders. Not for anybody in the video, but for somebody you've heard of. The secret is to consume the chicken as soon as possible after it's prepared. All of it is pretty good right out of the fryer. All of it declines in quality the longer it sits in the warmer. Two hours is about it for hot fried chicken. similar results for baked.
After that, the most important thing is how well they take care of their frying oil. Some use the same oil for weeks at a time. It should be changed every few days. It should also be filtered after every couple big frys. Putting just a minimal mount of breading on the chicken really helps keep the oil clean(extra crispy chicken is the pits. Often lousy chicken disguised with too much breading.) Too much flour accelerates the degradation of the oil. Some say cotton seed or peanut oil is the best, but soybean oil makes good chicken as well. I don't know but I believe Chik-Fil-A has such a large market acceptance because they change their oil WAY more often than anybody else.
Chicken should always be fresh, never frozen. More consistent quality that way. The only exception being some cooked, then frozen wingettes are quite good reheated in the oven or fryer.
    bon appetit..........

Our household has ordered them multiple times and was always missing something then we stopped after ordering a large meal for 4 with sides and everything and all we got was the chicken, no sides or buscuits. I wish I had a Bojangles close to me. I live in Baltimore. The York PA one became a Five Guys. I don't like driving in the DC area although I did drive to the one in Upper Marlboro MD one once. I have eaten at the one in Reading PA twice. Once was excellent and the other time was mediocre. I do have a Wingstop nearby. I ordered them for delivery and they took forever. I loved the Parmesan and butter but my friend did not care for their buffalo.

Asian Octopus that mentality is what gives rise to mediocre establishments survival. However Publix supermarket fried chicken is very delicious and they aren’t expensive. Also this process isn’t expensive. Buttermilk is pretty cheap so it doesn’t cost the business that much. In fact, fried chicken needs some sort of dredge. All they need to do is have some sort of seasoned flour to dump the chicken in after and they’re all set.

The gas station" chicken mentioned "Krispy Krunchy Chicken" really surprised me. Incredibly moist, a little spicy, bone-in chicken. However, "Dodge's Chicken" @ Dodge Store in beyond belief. My wife stops there at least 2-3 times a week to get a meal to bring home. The spicy chicken (especially the wings) are the BEST i've had - Ever. Corn on the cob, quartered baked then fried potato quarters, greens, baskets, the list goes on. It's incredible "gas station" food !

A few co-workers and I at a former job decided to find out who has the best chicken biscuits for breakfast. Surprisingly, it was a tie. Hardees had the better biscuit, but Chik'fil'A had the better chicken. KFC can be hit or miss, leaning towards miss dry and crusty, Popeye's is ONLY good if you can handle the spice they load it with. Burger King's fried chicken breast (not the generic patty) is pretty good (particularly on salads), but again, can vary depending on the store. Pizza hut's "wing street" wings used to be good, but vanished from the menu here not long ago, so the best I can find locally ends up being Wingstop (over a bunch of local places)
