    UFC tried this with 286 and ESPN felt like the event didnt perform. Remember ESPN are the main broadcast for UFC, all the countries around the world get the ESPN broadcast and they are the ones who make the PPV money and pay the PPV points.
    So it's not like the UFC wanted to do this, it's because of ESPN and specifically the PPV model in North America that is the reason for this.
    No matter what we say, they clearly dont maximise buys there unless in a time zone where families, friends, get togethers all happen.
    I'm in the UK by the way so I feel this but I get it and if Tom or Leon defended in the US people wouldn't be happy about that either, it's a catch 22.
    UFC 286 was on UK time by the way.

This is why British fight nights are always on UK time but numbered events, maybe not (especially if 286 didn't perform enough for them).

    American fans don't seem particularly interested in Tom, and most I see seem to hate Leon, so the show probably won't do huge numbers anyway. Changing the time to suit us wouldn't hurt the UFC (who, let's not forget, are a multi-billion dollar company) to any substantial degree. They can afford to cut local fans some slack, if they're hosting outside of the US.
    Either have it at a sensible local time, or keep the show in the US.

  • @chilledfounders
    @chilledfounders Před 11 dny

    As a UK fan I totally get that it was done to sell PPVs - but why not start main card a teeeeny bit earlier? Even at 7pm EST - would be midnight for UK? European fans Sundays are destroyed every single week, setting alarms to wake up at 3am to watch UFC. It's just a shame for us. How many American fans would give up their Sunday and wake up at 3am to watch UFC week after week?

  • @seany3127
    @seany3127 Před 13 dny

    10PM EST works for both, for UK fans we have to take an early sleep if we wanna be rested and we start at 4AM, that’s doable, if it was moved to 8PM EST we’d get a 2am start so it would be a late late night event for us drinking with friends and an early evening start for the US, that’s iffy at best. If you start at midnight US it puts both audiences in a weird situation. If you start at 10PM UK time that’s 4PM EST where a ton of people would be working and the big shows would be over before people put their kids to bed

Chael will always back up the ufc even for something thats not just. Also no mention of Francis going thru a hard time..

    I get the money side of it but its not like they will lose money on the event on uk time. Very short sighted of the ufc that claims they want to be international. I assumed they held events in other countries to try and promote there and gain fans they didnt have before. So seems moronic to have an event in a country and not accomodate their fans. They might as well just have it in the US as the people that will watch it are the same people that stay up every weekend anyway. All this does is mess with the british athletes having to live and train on british time and compete during the night. Only positive is that tom will smash any of your boys with or without sleep so ill have a good night regardless.

    Dear Mr. Sonnen, I am curious how You look at one topic. I dońt want to disrespect Tom Aspinall (it is diffucult to say how good he is) but I see some magical triangle of superb fighters Jones beats Pereira (probably 7:3 or 8:2 ), Ngannou beats Jones probably (6:4), and Pereira beats Nganno (probably 6:4). Best Wishes to You and Your Family. ;-)

    Unfortunately chael is correct. You have to play to your main audience when seeking pay per view. Humans are very habitual creatures. If you want people to tune in they need to know that they’re sitting down in front of the tv at the time they expect. These studies have been done time after time. To scheduling is a very very very well understood thing.

    Hilarious. I actually never noticed when the events start. In New Zealand it is somewhere around lunchtime. I turn off youtube until I have seen the fights or the news will happen before I can watch it. I only notice a change when they are in Saudi Arabia because the crowd and stage is different, or the Apex with its skeleton crew. I could care less when it starts really, since I just buy the PPV.

    One more thing and you can correct me if I'm wrong. Which fight brought the most attention , interest andrew outcome on the biggest card in the history of the ufc which was ufc 300? That is still talked about to this day the excitement is still resonating all over the media and the fans. The BMF. It's one to became a champion in a weight class. It's a whole different ballpark even it come to the BMF Title. The top bmfer amongst all bmfers. To hold the bmf title is a super strong statement. The number one bmfer among all bmfers. Maybe I just lov the sport to much. I cried like little girl when Max won the bmf title. I'm getting turned on and getting goosebumps just talking about. It icant wait to see what's next. I can care less about the other titles. I was on the verge of giving up on the ufc as a fan. Then rhe bmf made its glorious return and suddenly no pun intended I'm hooked again. I can't get enough of the bmf. I'm hooked I need to know what's next and where it's going. I hope it goes the way I think it will because I don't think you guys realize what a HUGE DEAL the bmf title is to us the fans. It's new exciting mysterious and it has me on the edge of My seat. If I don't stand up right now I might slip off because I'm sweating in antisopaton and I might have to check my underwear because the ufc just got interesting again. Take this from a fan who talks with other fans about ufc.we are all waiting with our palms drenched with nervous anticipation and perspiration like some some drug attics just to get a tiny bits of info on what's next for the bmf anybmf info is great info we are hooked and we want more.

    I don't don't think you understand what is possible with this BMF belt. Any fighter in the UFC organization has the right to to call out for the BMF title. Including s fighter who us making his debut. How can you sit there and point out certain fighters who could be considered a bmf fighter. Are working for a b,c,or d league. No the UFC is the top fighters in the world. Best of the best! Every fighter that Dana hires is a BMFer. That's why they are on the roster. In fact you or bisbain.chuck Lidell and even pat berry. Can call out the current BmF champ. That's what's gonna make this title fun and exciting for the organization. Dana is a genius and Mark my word. The BMF title is gonna bring back the action like old days. Dana does not hire non bmf fighters. Like I said before best of the best. Ask any fighter regardless of weight class if they consider themselves to be a BMFers. I grantee you every one will say that they BMFERS. Or they would not be in the ufc. Get it.

    @chael, I’m 51 and been watching boxing since before Duran, from South Africa, which means me and my Pops woke up at 3-5am to watch great fights. I’m in Italy now and the same for the UFC. We make the sacrifice all the time and granted I only pay less than €20 for a PPV, but I’ve still gotta get up and not wake the wife! How about you guys try it, it’s cool!

    I WISH we did 10pm brit time bc then id actually get to watch the shit at a normal time here. The brits arent happy, neither am i. The main card already starts 3-5 hours too late IMO anyway. Watching an hype inducing main card until 2am means youre up all night anyway. Ive never once watched an exciting ppv and then turned the tv off and went to bed. Its never happened. Not once. So then i watch tye post fight presser, then reactions to the fight etc. Pretty soon its sunrise. This sport, on the whole, is terrible for your health. When i remember i can just unplug and watch the card when i wake up the next morning im a much happier person. Im going to be doing this from now on.
