    Steve and Jeff-sorry that I missed the open discussion group yesterday. I truly loved this great new video and very pleased that you included KBRS and showed installation including floor pan. I have limited my business to smaller projects due personal health issues and miss large bathroom demolition and remodeling. Last week in a half bath room adjacent to a separate shower room, I replaced a glass shower door, installed new porcelain tile floor, installed new Moen shower control including new plumbing, installed new lights, removed toilet and replaced flange and adjusted/cut height of ABS drain pipe but client kept resin acrylic shower. Thus tile work was limited to floor, also installed granite custom vanity top and plumbing and GFI. Kept me happy.

      great question, we use DITRA most of the time because the cutback cavities are waterproof whereas Strata isn’t. You still need to address all the seams with KERDI-BAND but that doesn’t take long

    Its always a good idea to wear a respirator mask when cutting or breaking apart
    a fiberglass shower unit, as the particles that are released during the process are very
    small and very irritating to your lungs.

    @Titantitan001 Před 3 lety

    Ive commented this before on other videos but beginners and “DIYers” shouldn’t touch tile, especially kerdi or ditra. I’ve made most of my money ripping out improperly installed jobs. Some that were even installed by people who said they knew what they were doing. In the long term you are wasting more money you thought you were saving when you did it yourself or just hired the cheapest guy. Not to mention with showers you can cause serious damage to the substrates. Not trying to be negative either.
    Its the same as when I hire someone to install major electrical work. Even though I can install an outlet or switch I know my limits. I also know what issues can come of improper installation.

    I cannot stand a toilet right next to a shower. Mine is like that and I cant wait to move it. It sickens me. I kneel down on the bathroom floor to give my dogs a bath and my face is right next to the toilet. I get out of the shower clean, clean towel, standing next to the grossest dirtiest place in the house. Also toilets right in front of doors are bad too. Zero noise control there. I hate shower inserts too. They are giant ugly monstrosities and the moldings are never well designed. There is nothing better than a thoughtfully designed clean bathroom with good lighting. Bathrooms always seem like someone just designed it to fit everything and without thought to layout or use.
