RAMONES - OGWT (1980)

It’s January 15th 1980, and special guests on ‘The Old Grey Whistle Test’ are the RAMONES.
The RAMONES played two numbers: ROCK 'N' ROLL HIGH SCHOOL and DO YOU REMEMBER ROCK 'N' ROLL RADIO?
The first track had a single release in 1979 and featured on the movie ‘Rock 'n' Roll High School’ (featuring the band themselves and Dee Dee's immortal line, 'pizza!') firing up with a great beat then Joey singing the opening line, "Rock, Rock, Rock, Rock, Rock 'n' Roll High School."; the second was the second single from the band’s fifth studio album ‘End of the Century’.
DO YOU REMEMBER ROCK 'N' ROLL RADIO? was a great single: a Spector ‘Wall Of Sound’ production blaring out passion and colour - entirely appropriate for a song that namechecked the great bands and DJs of the past.
The Ramones certainly knew how to kick off a new decade.
