That is one thing I always noticed, the fact that before Duck Hunt was a character in Smash, I remember the Dog being in a lot, and I mean a lot of 10 hated characters lists and a lot of gags where the Dog would get shot or abused but once the Duck Hunt Duo became a character in Smash, all of that just seemed to disappear. I assumed at the time that the hate would of grown even more but no, it has seemed to just not be the case anymore afterwards. Though I will admit, I do think it was a missed opportunity to not include the NES laugh. I know people find it annoying but that's the thing, it would be perfect for a fighting game taunt.
What I expected: Bug fables iceberg
What i got: Duck hunt iceberg
What i needed the most: duck hunt iceberg
Can't believe Detective Gumshoe from Ace Attorney got his start in a racist NES zapper game that not even Nintendo remembers, crazy 😔👌
I don't think this was mentioned in the iceberg, but in the original duck hunt, all of the ducks have some green pixels near their eyes. The green pixels were probably left over from the actual green duck in duck hunt. In super smash brothers, those green pixels were fixed to the original colors.
This was an interesting iceberg for a Nintendo franchise that doesn't have as much documentation to it, which is nice to see get more attention (primarily because of Super Smash Bros.).
It's kind of coincidental to me that both main arcade games named "Wild Gunman" produced by Nintendo appeared in movies in the 1980's, and in the case of the 1974 FMV game, the footage shown in Gas (the 1981 film it's in) is the best quality footage of it out there.
I do remember that there was also a Flash game made by I-Mockery which was dedicated to shooting the Duck Hunt dog, only that he popped up quickly to make it more challenging.
I also find it funny that the Duck Hunt dog is one of the only video game characters in Pixels that doesn't try to hurt the main characters (or the rest of humanity in the film) despite his infamous reception before Smash 4 included him.
I love the idea of an iceberg from such a small topic, it's a good way to get quicker videos of topics that are just as equally interested! As the big nerd that I am I knew a lot of these but there were some that I had no idea were a thing (like the sequel to Super Scope 15, Duck Hunt Dog being in Barker Bill's game, that movie that had Wild Gunman, the white duck...)
It was a shorter video for sure, but just as fun as your mega icebergs for Undertale and Deltarune, so I liked it a lot!
PS: Mr. Stevenson for Smash
When I saw this notification, my first thought was "Duck...Hunt...Iceberg? Did not expect that to be their next video, but if it's from Apollo, I know it'll be good"
Ya caught me by full surprise with this topic, and man was there a lot I enjoyed from this Iceberg, I'm very happy you're using your well deserved clout for more niche topics :D, was very happy to see Crusade get a shoutout here
Also one thing of note regarding the Smash costume: it's actually acknowledged (retroactively) in Smash Ultimate on Banjo's Classic Mode, where the first fight is against Duck Hunt Duo on the 8th palette. With Smash 4 having been made years before, this isn't a confirmation it was based on it, but it's food for thought.
Always really enjoy learning about new trivia and related media to the main subject of these iceberg videos, and boy was this a pleasant surprise. Actually grew up with my dads old NES and a decent collection of games for it, including the classic Mario Bros + Duck Hunt combo. So seeing this series of light gun games get rep in the iceberg community gave me some warming feels ironically enough. Thank you for narrating this surprisingly fairly large iceberg with such a soft, yet still passionate vocal delivery, and for spotlighting obscure media like the original Duck Hunt and Wild Gunman, Gas, and Gumshoe which... wow sure does exist. Imagine owning a copy of this game and thinking wow, I really do have a rare, valuable collectable, without knowing the games actual content lol.
Gumshoe is such a unique concept for a game, and it feels very Nintendo-y in the sense that they take an established concept (shooting at enemies) and flip it on its head, instead having you shoot at the _protagonist_ to aid him.
It is sad that it's basically been forgotten for so long. I think I only ever learned about it through watching a video going over every Light Gun game. Maybe he'll show up again one day...
This is all so good and I've learned new things about Duck Hunt, I'd say the one thing that's missing is the SCP Based on Duck Hunt. But I feel like its best to not include it in.
holy moly how is the iceberg so large for such a simple game
3:46 that line is so iconic
i didnt think this iceberg was going to be as interesting as it turned out to be
Is this a very early Christmas present I didn’t get to see until now? Because I freaking love Duck Hunt
Ayo,once again,You did a amazing iceberg video! You deserve more subs!
thank u! ^^
This was a super niche one but really cool! I grew up with that NES action pack and duck hunt was a family gathering staple for a while. Had no idea about its older history too! Thanks for this one and your jokes and fun with your videos are great
This was a surprise to see from you, I liked it a lot. I wonder if you’ll do Ice Bergs for other games?
oh absolutely, i think ill be focusing on gaming related icebergs lol
@@silentchatterbox52 nice, I hope they aren’t as excruciatingly long as the Undertale + Deltarune one lol
@@funkythor6457 Nah that one was really cool, I hope they are
Two weeks late, but this was super interesting !! Loved hearing about Gumshoe right until the next layer was revealed 😭😭
So much lore about a game where you murder ducks
Great video, glad to see you branch out
Very interesting video!
Also I completely forget about Wild Gunman being in BttF 2 Lol
Ohmygosh I see the thumbnail and title and immediately laugh out loud and said “okay this is awesome.”
“Pixels is a bad movie”
That made my day lol
My dad used to play the action pack game when he was young and the first time he had a nes and used to play them most of the time
I think a duck hunt game on switch would be perfect. You could use button control, motion controls and ther could be even a labo gun.
I really hope there will be a sequel one day.
Pretty sure the reason Gumshoe was never featured in Smash Bros. is because it strangely never released in Japan.
oh thats rly weird
@@silentchatterbox52 Same reason Startropics barely gets any references.
The racist character in one of the levels I don't think helps.
wow such an random topic for an iceberg but so interesting
I didn’t expect this
I still enjoyed it a lot
People hate the movie pixels? Bro i fell in love with that movie when i was young
“A surprise to be sure but, a welcomed one”
that 1984 meme got me good
6:19 : image flash of a caricature
21:31 sans flash in screen
mention the one I missed
**HELL YES DUCK HUNT**
20:16 WHile it already resembles a cartoony laser pistol, I suspect avoiding shooting games was the creators' to reduce the main character actually shooting at anything as much as possible, which tended to be a censorship pothole back then.
I doubt you'd return to this since I think it's one new thing, but in the recent Super Mario Bros. Movie, there is a huge portrait of the Duck Hunt Dog in the client's house in the first act of the movie. Which is a bit odd since the actual one dog in the movie barely resembles him.
Duck Hunt gameplay: haha ducks go AGH
Duck Hunt lore:
the iceberg i didn't know i needed
That was pretty fun !
Bayou Billy has a zapper option for the shooting levels and that was in Captain N... just saying
"Pixels is a bad movie" I was kinda hoping they'd just end the entry there and move on
Now do the Ice Climber Iceberg.
Do a GRINCH Standard Showcase for Christmas!
25:50 There I am, Gary!
Do you think you could do a video on the a hat in time iceberg?
pixels is a sequel to the wizard (1989)
1:57 I Will Admit He Is Kinda Cute
10:30 Yeah This Scene Is Kinda Nice
21:34 Awwww
"Pixels is a bad movie" honestly, you are giving it too much credit.
It’s always the blue mouse who gets credit for stuff that the brave duck does
Super Duck Hunt is real well done animation and you should check it out.
aw heck yeaa i love those lil goobers
Ever seen the scp dack hunt remister?
Lumpy Duck Hunt should've been on here
I like the dog
the iceberg is missing the *dack hunt remistered* version of the game, that only exists as an scp.
My main in Smash
Same, my third best character in fact!
Bark
Where dack hunt remister
Ok. How the fuck does a Duck and dog. Have an iceberg.
Out of all things Duck Hunt.
AND IT SOMEHOW THERES ALOT.
I can’t take the idea behind the game Duck Season seriously because it reminds me of that Looney Tunes scene.
No, the game's called Rabbit Season
@@globingoblin8625 no it’s clearly named Elmer season.
Funny how most of the iceberg is Smash related
Omori iceberg?
🤔
you know the you cannot beat ad us is accurate we can't beat duck hunt
Maybe I'm just a bleeding heart but all those Duck Hunt 'kill the dog' memes always just kinda...disturbed me. Idk, even in a jokey context, I can't stand to see animals getting hurt.
........................duck season?.............................
lawl soul pls
Hi
How did Duck Hunt 76 detect that you hit the duck?
with a light sensor, like the NES Zapper! yeah, that technology was in 1976
@@silentchatterbox52 But how does the projector recieve the signal to make the duck plummet down?
@@globingoblin8625 i think the gun is attached to the projector
@@silentchatterbox52 Ah, I see. Thanks
This was a very interesting video, but why such an out of left field topic? If you asked me what iceberg you would have covered next, I would have guessed something like off or yume Nikki, not a first party Nintendo game from the 80s. What made you so interested in this all of a sudden?
….berdly
duck hunt more like dunk haha
This was almost the 69th comment. It's the 70th.
