Rat Rod Jeep Death-Wish Trip! - Roadkill Episode 15

  • David Freiburger claims that this road trip on this episode of Roadkill is the most stupid thing that he and Mike Finnegan have ever done. Freiburger wanted to do a Jeep trip, so Finnegan bought an old Willys flatfender--one that had been turned into a two-wheel-drive rat rod using some very sketchy fabrication. The guys made it semi-safe, then hit the road to drive to the Desert Bar in Parker, Arizona, where they sold the Jeep to a guy for the price of their bar tab. Watch to see the crazy fun in the scariest vehicle ever on Roadkill.

    Shouldn't be legal to call a place a bar if it closes at 6

    • @ElectronicsForFun
      @ElectronicsForFun Před 6 lety +68

      lol true, but this bar doesn't have any kind of hard wiring or plumbing. the whole place is powered by solar panels and once it starts getting dark they can only keep the lights on for so long before the batteries start to go. l mean if it was just lights then they could keep the place jumping all night but they have music, electronic cooking, and they use that stuff all day long as well so they can't have too many batteries because they will never charge since all the panels are powering the bar during the day. the amount of batteries they have to run the place after dark is minimal, so they kick everybody out and use what's left of their power to clean the place up and keep the food fresh all night.

    • @ElectronicsForFun
      @ElectronicsForFun Před 6 lety +23

      tank2449+ to power a place that big, that would be a big generator and it would drink gas faster than a 460 bigblock. solar panels make more sense because the sun's energy will last way longer than we will. also it doesn't matter anyways because this isn't the kind of place where you would want to stay all night long, it's kind a day hangout like place where off roaders can stop have a beer and party a little bit and then go home. driving to and from this place at night is a very bad idea, because it's easier to get stuck in some fine sand or mud or whatever when it's dark outside and then ad being drunk on top of that.

      RanchOwnzU Yeah and I find Roadkill to actually be informative, I've figured out the basics of an american v8 engine just by watching roadkill. And Frieburger is doing that engine show in which he really shows off his knowledge of mechanics. Don't get me wrong I am only 19 and would like to mod a jalopey and drift it, and mod my daily to a degree etc etc but I just don't find haggards videos to be useful, the information is not laid out in a concise and cohesive manner.

    That rod has a lot of potential, it needs a full-on frame up rebuild to fix all the issues but overall its a pretty cool looking ratter. I would replace those rear whitewalls with taller wider tires so the car levels out better, and use skinnies on the front for better clearances and probably replace the steering wheel with a smaller diameter job. I would also immediately replace the windshield, I hate the taste of bugs.

As I said, I respect their decision, I am just puzzled by it. On the face of it, it would seem like a missed opportunity. Las Vegas was a casino in the middle of nowhere. Southern people do seem to be extremely pleasant from what I've experienced. Being from a foreign country, you expect the coast to be lime and the south to be quite crass. Contrary to pre-conceived notions, you really do get a unique sense of community once you head down south.

      Freiburgers car IS the real car. Its called the F-Bomb Camaro. Pretty famous car. 1500 horse, twin turbo. The car is so bitchin that they asked Freiburger if they could make replicas of his car for the 4th Fast and Furious movie. I believe they made 5 replicas, they all used measly little 300 hp GM crates under the hood. They look good, but are nothing like Freiburgers. His doesnt get shown much, I think hes trying to keep it from turning into a clapped out Roadkill car. I have the feeling hes got a lot more sweet cars we dont know about.

    In Twin Falls this summer, I saw a hot rod with a inverted Jack Daniels bottle (filled with gas, not whiskey) being used as a fuel tank. There was a cork with a plastic tube through it in the top which ran to the engine and the whole mess was mounted to the front of the car.

    this jeep is why i never buy modded cars, if i want something modded I'm gonna do it right the first time or not at all. the suspension on it is some scary backwoods stuff for sure.

    • @ElectronicsForFun
      @ElectronicsForFun Před 6 lety +1

      yeah l hate seeing modded cars because the previous owner ALWAYS fucks up something and that's usually why they sell it because they fucked it up so badly. l mean replacing the fan with an electric one or putting a new carb on, fine... but l hate seeing a lift kit that wasn't put on right and frankly didn't need to be put on at all, or an exhaust mod with a plasma cutter and now it won't pass a SMOG check and can't be registered.
