Another subtle but not so subtle was when Maine said the NCPD was appearing out of thin air! Lmao that was gold 🥲
And they literally were in the elevator. You could see another officer just pop out of the corner lmao 🤣 I love that they referenced that
And when the psycho in the first scene kills the cops in the car, a dozen more appear behind him immediately.
😂Best joke in the series! I was once running on the train track about 6 floor above street level, had been running on it for some times, no way to get out of it. Saw some cops parked bellow me and wanted to test the silenced sniper rifle. Seconds after shooting them, Max Tack was running on the track where I was shooting at me, 😂 out if thin air indeed, wander what cyberwear they used 😂
That and most of the car crashes....
CDPR acknowledging their mistake and taking piss on themselves on their own anime. My respect
I love how the Scavs hideout is always in the same place even though it’s been raided by the Martinez Crew then again V with Jackie. Then you return there in a later side mission to find they’re still there.
Scavs doing scav things.
You can't get rid of cockroaches.
Then raided from the Inside by V when they tried to Fry his/her ass with a fake chip. Thankfully Johnny saved his/her life again.
@@switchblade1314 Just look at the roaches in Fallout. They managed to survive and thrive through a nuclear wasteland.
To me, I'd like to think the Scav hideout has some number counter on the number of days it has been raided. Like it would be like:
Scav 1: *[looks around hideout]* Were we raided?
Scav 2: ...eeyup....
Scav 1: *[sighs and goes to the counter to reset to 0]*

It felt like, coming home after replaying the game many times. Edgerunners just delivered a new meal in a familiar restaurant I always love to go to.
Man I didn't have emotional strength to go to the city center in the game

Same feeling here.
And I wish there is something about Lucy in the game 🤭
Also Adam Smasher’s depiction in Trigger’s art style is amazing
yeah, looks like an actual chromed up monster, his face in the animated style remembered me of necromorphs from dead space
Bruh they made him bigger and cooler, trigger loves making mech stuff and it shows.
Like General Grievous in the 2003 clone wars was cooler in the cartoon instead of the movie. Adam smasher is way cooler in the anime than he was in the game.
Who’s Trigger? I’m intrigued!

A very subtle easter egg is at the end of episode 5, the building where you set up a meeting with the Arasaka guy and the BD scroller, it's the same building for a gig in Watson where you confront a father and a son about scrolling hardcore BDs and that makes me think that they're just using the previous owner BD collection
smart thinking, i went to the exact spot jk died and found nothing from the anime but i like that idea
is not the same building but I'm not 100% sure
@@alexsilva28
It's the same building, you can tell from shots if the outside of it, compared to the one in game, it's literally the same.
@bautistahernandezfernandoa85 I remember that building being very different but I haven't played since launch
You forgot about an incredible easter egg: In episode 6, when Maine and Dorio are ambushed and the police come on an elevator. Main start shooting and says "It's like these pigs keep appearin' outta thin air for us!"
I laughed real hard at that.
Yeah and the fact that David had hard time driving vehicles (it's a reference to the poor driving mechanics is the game)

After watching the ending of the show I’m happy my V killed adam smasher and left Night City behind with Panam for good
Yep, same here.
Killing Adam Smasher never been so satisfy after knowing what happened
Killing Smasher with Sir John Phallustiff is the only canon ending to the game
technically that ending is not canon
From now on killing Adam without Johnny's pistol and David's coat on is sacrilege
David and his mom have a very familiar looking apartment right down to the view outside. Though if the Martinez are living in the apartment complex that will eventually be home to V, I'm wondering why David is going to such an obviously sketchy Ripper when Vics is just around the corner.
**edit**
The game confirmed that megablock apartment designs are functionally similar across the city. So V's apartment complex in Little China looks similar to David's in Santo, that said if he lives in Santo then the lack of quality Ripperdocs makes complete sense. V can play a significant role in fixing that problem.
I think that all megatowers look the same and the one he lived in is probably the one you where you find the new cyber psycho bd in game
All megabuildings are the same. They're generic with all of the appartmens being the same since they are built just for growing population. Cause David lives in Santo Domingo
@@bluerie like yeah they all look the same but v lives on the mega building 10 and david mega building 4 as shown on the posters and in game u can find his mission there as well further stating that’s where he lived

i like how the voice actors of cyberpunk 2077 made a return for the anime
I simply love it. This is the first time that we get a show that has the exact replica of the game that we play. They really took immersion to the next level. now we also get easter eggs about the edgerunners that they are canon and lived before Vs time.
One of the things they didn't show, the apartments of the characters can be found in game
The facts the David Martinez drink is available at the Afterlife after update 1.6 reassures the events of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners took place before the game events, same reality, different timelines.
LOVE IT! Also made me sad again to remember lol.
This anime is a masterpiece, but a one-time only. CDPR did the right move by making this because it'll drive many back into replaying the game, me included, and especially gamers who never bought it.
As I remember the drink is been available even before patch 1.6
I don't know is this available from the beginning but I remember play a month ago and the drink is been already here
The drink was there before the patch.
Drink was there since the release of the game
It’s the same timeline no matter what you choose in the game, because the show takes place a year before you start making choices in the game. So everything that happened with Jake, happened
Let's not forget that Adam Smasher being in the show kinda gives it away that this is before the game
They should have given jackie atleast a cameo knowing how shortlived but memorable he is in the universe.
Edge is a year before
@@HumanB312 that's just make it a perfect opurtunity
Early in the game it seems like he was set up as a suspect for setting you up, so a cameo setting him up as a COOL GUY probably would have undermined the game in a way.
@@silverbullet5632 Setting him up as a COOL GUY would make his death much more dramatic imo. But i think him appearing as a cameo without saying a word like rouge would do it for me.
While Edgerunners takes place a year before the game, let's not forget that V and Jackie knew eachother for half a year(maybe ever more, if you take Corpo backstory) before the Konpeki Plaza incident, meaning they - V, Jackie and the Edgerunners - could be well aware of each others' existence.
I think the best easter egg/ reference was when Maine was talking about how he felt like the NCPD would keep comming and pop out of thin air
Someone already pointed this out, but when they introduced Smasher, the narrator speaks with an african accent, like Charon in John Wick. The narrator also calls Smasher the boogeyman, which could be a reference to John Wick, played by Keanu Reeves, who also shows up in this universe too.
I liked how Edgerunners took its own path from the game, with the super unique and good looking character design. It would be a true blessing if we get a DLC in the future that has to do with Lucy and Falco, perhaps a new enemy in regards for the Peralez' and Mr. Blue Eyes. The Cyberpunk universe has SO MUCH potential.
In the scene where Arasaka netrunners trying to find the fixer who hired to infiltrate the Arasaka tower there's a picture of Regina Jones along with other fixers were shown. Right before the Tom's diner scene.
Bruh you are missing so damn much, you can find almost everything in the game, from weapon sounds, every weapon, vehicle, sounds of the calls, overlay of the money and the calls. To minor characters like the boxer lady.
Its an absolute goldmine for game references
"These cops keep appearing out of thin air!"
They fucking did it
When they did the scene of David clipping over the barrier while riding down the highway I found this heavily relatable because I'd often catch speed and just sail over the side barriers to reach my destination quicker.
Am i the only few here who watched this in Dub? It just seems fitting since in the Dub some of their enemies spoke japanese and other languages while they spoke english, really gave that "authentic" feel to the show
Same, English is not my first language nor the language of the country I live in but I chose it over both if those and the original Japanese. Same reason
I believe there are a lot of others who do indeed watch the dub. I watch the dub, and I think it’s great! Also, the Japanese version lacks the slang words like choom, nova, and preem.
man forgot about the quote "cops appearing from thin air" plus those janky car physics
wheres the easter eggs 😅 of course its the world of cyberpunk thats why theres all the things of Cyberpunk, thats why its called "Cyberpunk" : Edgerunners
Man... this anime does wonders
Wakako's my favorite fixer in the game and I finished all of her gigs first before any other fixer. She felt like a grandma to me in the sad world of night city. So to see her make a cameo in Edgerunner, I could not contain my screams!
Wakako's the best fixer by far, also had the best reward for completing all her gigs, Byakko is basically a mantis blades replacement, which means you can use the arms cyberware slot for something else than mantis blades
@@bautistahernandezfernandoa85 Byakko is def my favourite katana! I love the lunging on enemies + its looks
She's definitely the worst, coz she sold Evelyn to the scavs doing the BDs on her.
@@tomas8103 i think u have the story mixed up

This anime was downright fucking awesome, after playing through the game (Post 1.6 patch) I can safely say bravo Trigger and CD Projekt Red
Dont forget some of the glitch and game mechanic references such as Maine mentioning how the cops seem to be appearing out of thin air, much like how they were when the game first came out and they would seemingly teleport or spawn right next to you.
Finshed it. I feel…..empty
Loved seeing Rogue in there that was cool. Wish Panam was in it or Judy. Overall I enjoyed it alot, it was really good, & animation was mint. Hope there's a green light for a 2nd season.
I’m surprised there wasn’t a reference to Silverhand or V given this takes place before the main game.
Nobody knew who V was as it takes place a year before ,plus i doubt they would actual show V probably mentioning them but leaving gender/ romance/ life extremely vague so not to piss someone off.
I can definitely see a character saying “some crazy gonk offed saburo arasaka”
When I watched the fight between Adam and David. Adam does say to David in the Japanese's ver., "You know, you could prove an interesting construct". Though this might not be a direct reference to Johnny, but it did remind me of him since he is a construct in V's head.
@@icebucket2990 its not exactly. ((SPOILER)) in one of the endings of 2077 its revealed that arasaka can kidnap the mind of a dying person and download it into a construct. depending on how strong that mind is, it could range from being a zombified version of the original person, or in a few rare cases, like Johnny and possibly David's, it could result and a computerized afterlife. but overall, less to do with Johnny and more to do with the technology arasaka has available.
V is a nobody, plus he could be in 3 different places at that point.
@@roboaramis I think it would be a different case with David since his entire head was blown apart by Adam rather than Johnny who was still intact
Also Emmerick the Afterlife bouncer who wouldn't let rebecca in
I don't know why but as a HUGE cyberpunk fan seeing rogue in the show even briefly was the coolest thing for me, I knew the afterlife was probably gonna have to be in it but I just didn't expect the show to tie in with the game in any meaningful way. I'm so glad I was wrong
I like that they hired same VA who voiced Adam Smasher in the game.
Instead of the ice bath and hack you could had put the scavs and the location where you get Sandra Dorsett
When Maine and Dorio are fighting off the police (in the episode where Maine goes full cyberpsycho), Maine remarks [paraphrasing] "Where the hell do they keep coming from?! It's like they're coming out of the walls!"
It's a reference to that infamous bug on the launch version of the game where cops pursuing the player would magically spawn within a certain radius of you no matter how illogical the circumstances ... often spawning inside walls where you couldn't even shoot them.
Who else want a Rebecca tribute added to the game like maybe her outfit or gun at the place she died or references especially if it’s about David and her

- Mantis Blades are shown bein used by David inside a neurodance and by some bandits on early episodes
- People using neuro inhibitors all the time which are basicaly life packs in the game
- GPS map layout is 1:1 copy from the one in the game, even the icons are axactly the same
- Breaching protocol code screen (shown when Lucy and other netrunners use hacking) looks exactly like the ones in the game
- On Episode 9 around 6:30 you can cleary see an Arasaka bodyguard using a Energy Sniper' charging shot that looks Identical to the Nekomata
- On Episode 5 the Neurodance artist Jimmy Kurosaki clealy drives a Rayfield Caliburn (even the engine sounds during the porsuit is exactly the same)
- At some point during the show (can't remember exactly when) but during a Gunfight you can clearly see someone shoting guided bullets to kill enemies behind cover which is a reference to both smart weapons and smart links which you need in the game to make bullets from smart weapons trace enemies
Loved the breaching protocol code screen !
The guided bullets were used by Faraday when he was attacked by Tyger claws, and then David used during the final episode in the Arasaka Tower
Just finished it, man I loved it
An there are even more! Show is awesome and its cool to see how much time they invested to make the game world and anime feel the same.
Holy shit, the guy who explains Adam Smasher to David is voiced by the same voice actor who voiced the role of Slider in Phantom Liberty!
Hell yeah the attention to detail is amazing

It's so faithful to the game and the world he created, I LOVE HOW THE LOCATIONS LOOK JUST LIKE THE GAME!! 🎮
At one point in one of the later episodes, they show a screen with several Night City Fixers, a number of whom are in the game.

Considering how important was Silverhand for Night City, its kind of a turn down to have just a little lines about him. But the show is AMAZING
Does anyone else realize that the place Rebecca and her brother lived in is the same room where the dirty cop in one of game's side quest lives. The one that needs v to reclaim a video about his criminal acts.
The diner scene is great because the counter intel guy is talking to the screen (you) and saying "I thought you'd find the familiarity reassuring." Which I'm sure we all recognized the diner immediately and the similarities of our first meetup there.

You can also see Padre and Regina Jones when the Arasaka agent display the fixers. Also, you can see some scenes in the Lizzie's (basically the BDs)
It nice to see most of the English VA reprised their role in the English version of Edgerunner
Another few are the apartments that David lives at have the exact same load outs as the ones V can get
I was wondering about that. It would be logical that most mega city block apartment have the exact same layout.
Incorporaram muito bem o jogo na série.
Night City é um diamante bruto!
I love how much work CDPR has put into their world building in their taken on Cyberpunk and seeing details overlap between the game, the anime from Trigger and the Dark Horse Comics
In one of the episodes (think it was either 5th or 6th) you can see one of the billboards that appeared unfinished on the initial game launch which said something like "text missing"
Is that Evelyn behind Faraday in the diner?
Maybe???
I feel like if it was she’s have a little more detail in the animation
Kinda sad how Adam s masher kills what left of the main cast only to later get killed by a shitter spamming Short circuit and gaggle punching him
You can also find Rebecca’s machine gun. Not sure if it’s specific or random, but an enemy that must’ve just found it lying around has it and you can loot it. Amazing and immersive detail.
An interesting easter egg is in the apartment that David is living with Lucy after a time jump after Maine's death. If you look closely, the interior is the same as "V's Mansion" which can be accessed with bugs.
That mansion is the one V lives in at the Rogue/Don't Fear the Reaper ending, assuming you didn't give your body to Johnny.
This series is sooooooooo good !!!
Adam Smasher looks like sundowner (Metal Gear Rising)
Always amuses me when people think Cyberpunk 2077 was the start of Cyberpunk, completely clueless to the over decades worth of lore and world building from the table tops and comics, which the game takes from very well, vast majority of everything people are saying are references to/from the video game, are just things in one of the old table top books.
Still always good to see the setting get a new breath of life either way!
It's sad edge runners didn't come out first, then we'd get less subtle hints at David and the other characters besides jackets and shotguns 😅
I was really hoping to see the signature T pose at least once in the show.
These aren't easter eggs...
That's just consistent universe throughout various medias.
Like, they're not even hidden, you know... LIKE EASTER EGGS ARE.
Exactly
In the trauma team scene, that is even the same balcony from where they pick up Sandra Dorsett.
There's also a reference to a certain side mission, after Kurosaki dies and Trauma comes for him it shows the building they're in which is actually a quest location involving 2 depraved XBD creators.
There’s actually this other one referencing the police spawn bug.
In episode 6, as Dorio and Maine fight of the NCPD, Maine remarks that the police seem to be “coming out of thin air” just for them.
I still don't understand how V was even capable of beating Adam when David couldn't and he had some the best tech on him.
David's a kid just grown up. V cheated death.
Well to be fair, my v had the best tech on him. Also realistically David should have won he just had to use the grav field on smasher and he would be squashed but since he appears in the game it was clear from the beginning David stood no chance against plot armor.
V has keenu reeves in him of course he will win
By the point you reach Adam Smasher, V is probably kitted out and chromed up with some of the best shit you can find, and on top of that, doesn't need Immunosuppressants to keep from becoming a cyberpsycho. And if you play it a certain way, you get help from Rogue and the Jamaican guy
@@MrMeatballYT His name is Wayland and he is a national treasure 😤

The house of V is in this anime too
no that's other apartment, different number and district
After watching the shadow ya kinda realize how powerful v is. Smasher beat David and he was using some pretty insane stuff, then ya got v using some pretty good cyberwear but nothing on the level David had. V is literally a monster.
on my first playthrough I didn't use any cyberware on my V so it was even crazier
True. My V clogged Adam with Johnny's signature handcannon and a bit of luck. Just thinking about it feels surreal.
I beat the shit out of him with a shovel in 2 minutes
It’s like watching a show about your hometown. I got excited when they showed the booth at Tom’s that Takemura and I used 😭😂
And ofc the music that appears in both the anime and the game.
