Rebecca is the best. Especially when you realize if David fell in love with her instead, he would not have succumb to cyberpsychosis. He would have had someone he loved with him on every mission, protecting each others backs and giving him the love he deserved. That's why Rebecca is the best, she loved him unconditionally and died for him even though her love was never reciprocated .

When I finished the anime I initially didn’t get the simp hype around Rebecca. She was just small, cute, and aggressive. But then you realize she was a true ride or die for David like you said. He wouldn’t reciprocate the attention because he was only focused on Lucy. Even though the biggest slip to David’s mental health was Lucy growing distant in their relationship.

She really is the Toph of this series. She doesn't get much development or screen time compared other members of the cast, but she is memorable for just being herself and staying a consistent source of comedy.

She sounds like she’s in her 20’s and a “much more mature” voice doesn’t fit the archetype at all and in fact I like subbed anime but this one made me watch it in dubbed just because the voice didn’t fit the character in Japanese

Do you know whats even crazier to detail by this anime? In game if you equip gorilla hands (thats what these massive arms are called) it Actually enables you to wield heavier weapons. All these correct Weapons (heavy machine gun, sniper, shotgun) are later used by rebecca after having those massive hands

She just looked at the delusional, psychotic remains of the man who now had no capacity to love her back and promised that she would ride or die with him.

It was so sad when David said "you were right mom..." looking at Rebecca, his mind was falling apart and all that was currently on his mind when looking at her was his mom and that he was going to make her proud. And Rebecca finally realizing he's too far gone, so she smiles and goes along with the suicide mission. Because everyone talks about "all the way to the top", but no one ever says anything about making it back down

I would say he's maybe like this universe version of General Grievous (Just with the badass stamp of Darth Vader) but the Terminator work too.
The whole ride her loyalty never faulted. Even when David was insane and she knew they were most likely going to die she followed through with his plan to the very end. We all need a Rebecca in our lives.

Rebecca was my favourite character (she feels like how Harley Quinn SHOULD have been in the recent films), she seems crazy, but actually is stable - she's loyal, caring and sticks to the plan. What happened at Arasaka Tower made me shout a very rude, very loud swearword on my first viewing (and EVERY viewing since).

1:22 Hands down, the best laugh I had this decade. The way David holds Rebecca (like a cat) and her reaction to Rogue are just fantastic.
Seeing Rebecca’s final moments pretty much solidifying the fact that her infatuation with David was unrequited love, just for her to be squashed by Adam Smasher still hits me. She didn’t expect anything from David the whole time but still was there for him to the end. I like how you can see the exact moment she started to like him and how it deepened but she never pressed it. That’s genuine love on her part and she was probably one of the most wholesome characters in the show.
The fact that she is the most wholesome character just shows how dark this future is.
It's still weird to think the most wholesome character is a psychotic short stack. Didn't get the love for her until the last couple episodes and she won me over completely.

Her English voice actor literally sounds like her Japanese va started speaking fluent English. The dubbing for this show all around is amazing.

@@nathancassanova3001 I agree with you, the ENG VA did a good job in Becca's persona but felt it too immature imo on the other hand the JP VA gave it a more complex persona with her tone changes and the playfulness in the way she delivers the message. it was like an adult yet young woman teasing and exploding around everyone. (exploding in the sense that she goes 0 to 100 real fast)
@@younglinkxx Sometimes I wonder why dubs aren’t this good usually. Because English voice acting is great in any original English animated series or cartoon.
Maybe it’s to do with bad direction or the process is handled with less care since they’re dubbing and not the original. Or maybe it’s to do with trying to do the lip sync from a different language? But anyway I’m glad the cyberpunk dub turned out good.
Remember everyone, Rebecca ended up living a happy life with her friends and still chased after David. I'm not crying my eyes are just really sweaty.

I like how both Rebecca and her brother went out in equally bat-shit insane ways that were entirely different from one another. Pilar got his brains blown out by a cyberphsyco mid dick joke (which was just so true to his character), whilst Becca got fucking Mario stomped by the bastard hate child of Megatron and the Terminator, screaming the F-bomb and rapid firing submachine guns right up until the end.

Nitpick, but she was firing a Militech Mk. 31 HMG, a weapon too heavy even for V to carry around on his person. And it's implied she took out Smasher's primary weapon given he was using his hands and his built-in weapons afterwards.

Fun fact, Rebecca's giant cyber arms she gets after the time skip have a purpose, the shotgun she uses that you can get in the game (Guts) has so much recoil that even a completely cyber'd up V can barely handle it. It fires the equivalent of 4 shotgun shells at once and the effects are nasty. Which is how she manages to keep a body rolling in the air in one scene with her guns alone. She doesn't fuck around. On top of that she likely chose that path of cybernetics in honor of her brother, who was all about the arm cybernetics. But instead of dexterity, she opted for pure power.

The Carnage is a monster shotgun - 4 Gauge I believe. Its projectiles equal a quarter pound of lead. The standard 12 gauge? Only a 12th of a pound. Tacking on the increased powder charge and heavier projectile load, the 4 gauge easily dwarfs a 12 by a magnitude of about 6, and Rebecca's gun Guts fires 3 extra projectiles on top. Its flavor text says "Just don't shoot your eye out." and the last we see of her, well...
Even in the game the gun pushes your whole body back two steps. I just started and I’m still trying to figure out how to mitigate it lol
