"In the spring of 1944, the 104th Medical Battalion of the United States Army is disbanded, and its men reassigned to various infantry companies in preparation for their invasion of occupied France. For First Lieutenant Novak, this is less than helpful, as he has so far met his platoon’s designated medic a grand total of twice, and has both times found Sergeant Winchester to be the optimum combination of reckless, arrogant, and downright insufferable so as to make cohesive platoon function near impossible. When the time comes to move out, however, Castiel has to reconcile himself to the fact that men are going to go down and trust that Dean Winchester may well be the only person who can put them back together again."

I recently finished reading the stunning fanfic Ninety One Whiskey by komodobits on ao3 and I was left breathless and with a giant turmoil of emotions. In order to cope with it I immediately sat down and started this edit. Because that fic deserves it. Please read it. It's long, BUT it's worth it!

great. freaking. edit. the scene changes told the story so well, and 91w really had some saving private ryan vibes. also, who else is here newly obsessing over the fic even though this edit is years old, just to see other people who like it too 🥲 it's been four months and I'm still not over it
How did I just read this fic for the first time when it has been out for so long?? It the best story ive ever read. Also crazy people still make recent edits for it so THANK YOU! One thing tho, they were fighting germany not japan oop but hey it was as accurate to the story as it possibly could've been other than that! GOOD JOB!
Yeah I know it's just that the american declaration of war happened due to an attack by Japan. unfortunately I couldn't find anything connected to Germany, but with it being D-Day ...was enough for me for now 😅

I JUST finished this fic a couple of days ago. I have such an emotional attachment to it already. How someone could write it with such great detail based around a war that happened so long ago is amazing.

So two weeks ago when you released that video I watched it while I already have had the thought in the back of my mind for some time that this is something I would like to read and your video convinced me to actually start reading because it is soo well done. Now about ten minutes ago I finished the ff and came back here to watch the video again and I have absolutely no words for how I feel. I may have tears in my eyes but I also am just so shocked by how perfect both that ff and your video are. Thanks for giving me that experience. Will never forget it.

Love this edit. The use of the war scenes was done with great effect and appreciated the little bits of lovey dovey time to accurately represent the story. My favorite moments though, were actually Cas returning stateside and then going to see Sam. Walking up to the house, Sam opening the door, sharing some tears. That was so beautifully done. That adds an extra layer to the story that I don’t think other edits have shown. The dialogue you added from the show works really well throughout the video.
Cas visiting Sam after he returned to the US was one of my favourite parts in the fanfic so I really had to include that. I noticed it was missing in the other edits too. I really love the SamCas dynamic in canon and in fanfics and felt the need to include him here and I'm grateful you pointed it out! Thank you for your kind words! ❤️

I recently read TAS for the first time and it broke me. 91W is the other classic destiel fic I still have to read but I wasn't sure if one of them died so I never read it bec I can't go through that pain again! But now I know it has a happy ending so I can read it without being scared ❤️

I get it. It was hard for me to read the war scenes but it was worth it because the end is just so damn beautiful. IMO you can just skip through them if it's too much for you. You won't miss out much and I can tell you that you'll not be able to stop reading once you reach the last 4 or 5 chapters
