  • This episode describes the special job of each happy chemical in the state of nature, and why these chemicals are not meant to flow all the time.
FULL VIDEO SERIES WITH A FREE ACTION GUIDE: innermammalinstitute.org/happ...
These 7 short videos show you how to build new neural pathways to turn on your happy brain chemicals in new and healthy ways. Anyone can do it by following these simple steps.
    You'll learn:
    - What turns on each happy chemicals in the state of nature, and why they're not on all the time.
    - Why do our unhappy chemicals turn on so easily.
    - Three simple steps to wire in new self-soothing skills, so you can replace an old habit that you're better off without
It’s hard to accept the fact that our happy chemicals can’t surge all the time. DOPAMINE only spurts when you approach a new reward. OXYTOCIN only spurts when you enjoy safety in numbers. SEROTONIN only spurts when you assert your social importance. You will not have peace if you rush to trigger more of these chemicals as soon as a spurt is over. You’ll have more peace in the long run if you get comfortable with the neutral feeling between these spurts.

Nothing personal; I'm explaining it to scientists too because they don't see it this way. (The medical model ignores the animal origins because they want to believe animals are always nice.)

When women have low serotonin levels Zoloft can turn their life around. My daughter is Korean, we brought her to to America and adopted her when she was 4 months old. When she was in 8th grade she stared to get depressed for no apparent reason, to the point she couldn't go to school. Understand, she was a very good student, completely happy and normal up till then. Luckily we were recommended to a very good child psychologist who figured it out. Around 50% of Korean females have low serotonin levels, showing up around the teen years. Within 2 days on Zoloft we had a normal kid again! She is now 43, married, still happy, and still on Zoloft. The other plus was she missed so much of 8th grade she would have failed, so we homeschooled her all the way until she entered college and then finished 4 years on the Deans List. Getting her out of the public school system was a HUGE bonus. She was doing 1st year college work in homeschool. The local high school fought us the whole way, which made it even more rewarding, fighting a very flawed system of "education". We opened a lot of doors to alternative schooling back then.

It’s interesting how many of us treat the happy brain’s chemicals how if they would be the same thing.
Actually, they have particularities that differ one from another, and, in some circumstances, some behavior can boost one chemical and repel another at the same time.

@innermammalinstitute Do we increase our serotonin release when we compare ourselves to ourselves and feel we’re “superior” or somewhere better today than yesterday OR does this only work when in comparison to other people? I appreciate your time and explanation please! Thank YOU!

    • @lorettabreuning8578
      @lorettabreuning8578 Před 2 lety +2

For each person, whatever triggered your serotonin in youth paved the neural pathway that turns it on for you today. We can build a new pathway to feel confident in our own power regardless of those petty social comparisons of daily life, but it's hard work. It takes a lot of repetition to build a new pathway in adulthood, and we're not very motivated because it doesn't feel as good to pat yourself on the back as it does to get the world's applause. This is why people tend to fall back on whatever got them attention and respect when they were young, even when they hate the results. Remember that people mostly get applause after they die. While they're alive, their contributions are criticized. So don't make yourself miserable over that quest for the world's applause. Just presume you'll get it when you're gone and start enjoying it now. :) This is the subject of my book, Status Games: Why We Play and How to Stop. (Good question!)

It sounds crude, I know, but the fact is that everyone is already doing it, and you are already doing it, so you actually do it less when you admit that it's happening, because then you know it's not real. You know it's just your mammal brain making you feel like your survival is threatened by someone else's strength. So you can find a safe way to reassure it that you have the strength to hold your own in a world of competitive monkeys.

Soul to feel Positive - Endorphins
To bear physical pain - Cortisol
Dopamine is a Reward of the Result of ur hardwork but people are distracted bcoz they get it directly from external sources.
However that's the beauty of Life.
