In this video, I cover the different roles that serotonin and dopamine play in our brains. I talk about the different effects these two neurotransmitters have on mood, anxiety, sleep, and more.
I'll explore the topic in detail and provide you with a clear understanding of serotonin and dopamine pathways, their precursor, and symptoms of low serotonin and low dopamine, as well as high serotonin and high dopamine. You'll learn exactly what serotonin and dopamine do in the brain.
If you want to learn more about dopamine and serotonin separately, see these videos:

How can I know which one I prefer ?!
Give us the highest foods / supplement ; stimulation for serotonin or dopamine
I want to see clear effect but without any side effect out of curiosity

Hi Inka!! I am very happy that the algorithm made this video in my feed, because i am aware of dopamine and serotonin since two years ago and i thought i knew everything about these amazing hormones but you proved me wrong 😅. I have to watch your other related videos as well during this week. Thank you very much for your amazing video 🥰🥰
Hi, I’m so happy your found it useful! Welcome to the channel :)
High fat carnivore diet was the best dopamine detox for me.
I managed to balance my hormones, completely cure my depression, anxiety and addictions.
5 years carnivore. Best decision of my life.
Sometimes I too use carnivore to balance mood due to genetic vulnerability to inflammation.
@@iaminkaland Inflation affects every one and should be eliminated as much as possible. No one is immune to inflammation,
All processed foods, coffee, sugar, alcohol, drugs and seed oils cause inflammation. There are no depression, or diabetic in nature.
Excellently explained
Glad you liked it!
Brilliant 👏

would love to hear your analysis between the relationship between serotonin and oxytocin ! My hypothesis is that low oxytocin down regulates serotonin. also, I find that whenever I take a serotonin modulating supplement or even when I used to take ssri, they would work and then it skyrocket my depression and irritability after a while.
Absolutely thanks for sharing. Serotonergic and oxytocinergic systems do interact and some SSRIs also increase oxytocin release. Did u notice any changes in different stages of menstrual cycle?
@@iaminkaland no but I have super irregular cycles so that’s probably impacting me too 😅
@@fractalizedspiritz Yes estrogen is all linked to the serotonergic system. Low estrogen -> lower serotonin. Support hormonal balance -> support serotonin levels.
Also linked to thyroid function.
Thank you for this video. I thought i have low dopamine but after watching your video i also share some symptoms of high dopamine {gambling, binge drinking, binge eating}, so i am confused..How do i know for sure whether im high or low in dopamine?
Dopamiine fluctuations are normal. It sounds more like you're at dopamine *imbalance*. I strongly recommend you to watch my and Dr Anna Lembke's dopamine episode which explains it.

Good
glad it was helpful!
I just spotted something ion the chemical structures on the diagrams of Serotonin Dopamine and neurepinepherine you flashed on screen at the 1 min point. Their Amino functional groups all showed the NH2 as NH3, is this correct and another way of depicting it, or was it a mistake in the diagram or something?
Good question.
The presence of NH3+ instead of NH2 is the protonated form of the molecule. In aqueous solution, amines like the one found in serotonin/dopamine/noradrenaline can accept a proton (H+), turning the neutral amine group (NH2) into an ammonium group (NH3+).
Serotonin, dopamine, and NE have ethylamine chain susceptible to protonation under physiological conditions. They can exists in both forms but the protonated form is more common at the body's pH which is around 7.4.
So you may find both forms in the scientific diagrams.

How we leave from dopamine addiction
Good question. I have a video on Dopamine and today's short talk about dopamine detox. I'd recommend a book from Dr Anna Lembke called the Dopamine Nation.
@@iaminkalandwhy detox from dopamine?
Do you think I can heal my anxiety naturally? I have a little bit of panic disorder that I've had for years on and off.
Possibly. I did it with mine. I’ve coached several people too to get rid of it or significantly reduce
do you have a video on increasing dopamine with tyrosine and phenlalynine? what ratio? how much?
hey, I don't have a video on this. You could check out my dopamine video to learn more about DA. This question is complex to address due to the complexity of the DA system which includes various receptor families and mechanisms and individual differences. But it's an interesting one. welcome to the channel and thanks for the comment.
? Foods for sleep? You mention banana for serotonin melatonin thus eaten lunchtime? Arvo? Dessert? Ratio of protein to carbohydrates? Maybe hi protein no fat plain yoghurt with a banana and tsp almond spread, pepita seeds? Thankyou.
High-protein at the first half of the day (e.g. turkey, chicken, fish, dairy, eggs, grass-fed beef. if there’s no allergies). Higher Carbs in the evening, low protein. Banana is good, pumpkin seeds, yogurt, vegetables.
Dopamine serotonin cortisol oxytocin and endorphin.........plz make video abt these at one go....to get clarity
ok !
So you I understand this? Turkey in the morning >serotonin... And carbs in the evening >dopamine, sounds contraproductive?
What about Adhd.... 🤔 Can those have low serotonin? Thx interesting
Otherway around.
Meat-based protein and nuts are more likely to raise dopamine
Carbs in the evening (or any time) without overwhelming amount of BCAA-proteins (red meat) would be good for serotonin.
ADHD is more typically linked to low dopamine levels in the attentional brain networks
@@iaminkaland yes I know adhd has traditional links to low dopamine but Adhd people need to sleep also you know thanks your reply 🎻
Which one cures premature ejaculation in men?
Thank you,but I find serotonin excess more difficult to understand.......ie why does such the excess cause this anxiety producing syndrome.
It's probably to do with the overstimulation of the receptor which disrupts the functioning of the stress circuits that causes these symptoms. Serotonin modulates almost all organs too so it's probably a complex interaction between the autonomic nervous system and the basic functioning of organs. I'd assume - haven't looked into the research yet.
Plz I am from south Asia and I badly need your help
how can I help?
how would you naturally boost serotonin and dopamine in ADHD brain?
Love this question! 👏
For ADHD, natural ways to boost dopamine are the most effective: exercise in the early part of the day especially.
Diet plays a big role, too. It should contain enough amino acids (protein) and avoid sugar and ultra-processed foods, which affect dopamine receptors.
I'd also do attention training in some form. There's tech for this, but certain forms of meditation work.
Regular circadian rhythm is also important.
There's actually a great video on this topic:
czcams.com/video/At9Zhpfm_Cg/video.html
For serotonin, sunlight exposure in the morning, during the day, and at sunrise.
Social relationships are also important.
Hope this helps!
thank you!! @@iaminkaland
keep off the alcohol and the caffeine and sugar too
@@kwkw5711 I dont do alcohol, I drink coffee maybe once every other day and I don't do sugar except fruits and honey........
@@liatbar-on1166 Look into supplements like magnesium, vit d, k2, b complex. Worth a try.
