- It's been about a month since the announcement of Apple Vision Pro and while almost every hands on impressions of this device walked away with a positive reaction, I couldn't help but notice there's still a lot of hate out there on this headset... but is that hate justified?

Plan to buy Vision Pro on day one. Take my money!
Apple will make this product is such a way that it will not only become "normal" to have one but also a status symbol in the world of Apple products. All we have to do is look at past history to see they've done this.
"OCULUS"
@@gamerfortynineis not premium not AR and not intended to be used in the same way.
@@ReLapseJunkieyeah just ignore the pro one I guess
I never understood why people need status symbols. Why do people spend their hard earned money to impress people they do not like? For a status symbol it also is much too cheap. There are hardly any people who could not pay the $3,499 if they really wanted.
Apple has not presented a use case for Apple Vision Pro, this is the difference
I hope someone creates a Vision Pro Forum where owners can come together and learn from each other. Apple and app developers can utilize the group to learn how we use the product and beta test improvements among an enthusiastic group of early adopters.
Probably on Reddit
Good analysis. I probably won’t get 1st generation, but I can see this being a game changer for mobile computing. Heck if they put a cellphone module in this people might be walking around with these in the future.
People make fun of the outward screen. As a quest 2 user I can say it would be nice to give others the feedback I am immersed.
This product will be a hit no doubt. Like you said, every one came out after using it either amazed, praising it, or almost crying of how good this thing was. Haters will hate, and that’s fine. Another great well thought out video from you. Great job!
My concern is that it’s expensive and they only produce limited sets each year. This low user base may not incentivize app developers to get onto that platform.
Will be a hit you say? The biggest slice of the general public don't even understand what Virtual Reality or a Metaverse are. The majority of over 60 barely adopted smartphones at today.
Unless you would buy a 3 thousand dollars plus visor for Christmas to your 20+ years old son/s.
Yeah surely a hit.
@@user-hx9gu5nh9pokay and? People will adapt. Hype will spread and more and more people will pick them up. And the 60 year olds aren’t what new technology in general is targeted towards in the first place lmao.
VisionAir will no doubt follow with fewer features and a lower cost.
Now this will be the one that goes truly mainstream! Just like the Apple Watch, most people simply bought the sports model and were good!
I 100% support other people buying the vision pro
For me, the Vision Pro is a device that’s more likely to replace a Mac than replace an iPhone. For those ‘quick interactions’, the smartphone will always be more convenient. I wouldn’t take out my MacBook to quickly check something in the street, and the same goes for the Vison Pro. This is a device for getting work done at home, in the office or at a cafe. It will never replace the iPhone, but it could certainly replace a Mac.
It needs to be able to dock and boot up Mac OS on an external monitor and I'll buy it
Ur totally right, like this isn’t the next iPhone. This is a whole new thing like the Macintosh was. iPhone was designed to be portable and accessible to everyone, so it was like $500. AVP isn’t that
ALSO if you adjust for inflation this is CHEAPER than the original Macintosh. this is not a crazy price for this style of product
I love your channel, and I am a huge apple fanboy and an early adopter, use mixed reality headsets daily. but don’t quite agree especially when you really haven’t experienced the product for an extended period of time. Before you get to price , it’s usability . Less than 2 hours with significantly bulkier and heavier dorky goggles means something significant has to happen to change user behavior. Apple has had failed products before.
Great video. Anyone who watched the keynote could see the technology and R&D that went into this product was massive and expensive. It’s NOT a consumer product yet and the price reflects that. Plus, there will always be people who buy EVERYTHING by price. They buy generic because why waste the money on brands. Anything they buy is based on it’s price. Most of us are like that but unlike the hardcore price bottom dwellers, we also have moments when price is not the determining factor. It could be quality or features or availability. From fruit to sturdy hiking boots or a satellite capable device or a bed that cools in the summer. A lot of people hate Apple simply for their prices.
How refreshing to read your comment! Most of us remain silent. While it is quite expensive you're right we do have moments when price is not the determining factor.
It’s a fully fledged Mac
It’s a 3d video camera
It’s a movie cinema experience
VR apps/gaming
Social FaceTime functionality
I’m in..
It displays anything, anywhere, in any size, without blocking your vision of others with no nausea. It provides spatial audio without headphones, you interact without controllers, it has a Mac processor and already runs nearly every iOS app, and can mirror your Mac in about 2 seconds.
“Apple has yet to make a compelling use case…what possible use is this?”🤦🏻♂️
The criticisms on price, battery life, etc. are valid but for those who think it’s useless or a flop are truly short-sighted.
It’s super cool but will need to be half the price, have a good integral battery, look like sunglasses, be a lot more compact and easy to put on etc to become mainstream. I hope it happens though.
One other thing I want to add. People forget how much these 5k 6k displays cost. We AVP offer all of that.
If you think about it. This device is not too expensive for what it can do. Vision Pro can replace your TV, MacBook Air and iPad. And for some use case like watching a movie it even offer much more superior experience than TV itself.
Tech will keeps improve making it smaller, lighter and longer lasting just like iPhone. People tend to forget that iPhone also doesn’t go mainstream until iPhone 4
Dude you’re videos have really gotten better great work
It is revolutionary. Yes there will be more expensive options with more storage. They will sell every one they make. The tech is not ready for mass production. Just as the XDR monitor is not meant for family use, this is for developers and early adopters. My MBP was >4000 and I expect to buy this day one. I really want it for myself, and as a developer I can not ignore it.
At least they gave us a time to save up for it!
Can I plug it into a TV tho?
What if you have messed up eyes. How do you control the gesture
Are you getting one
I’m more interested in the future iterations of this tech. I’d love MR glasses that can be worn everyday in tandem with iPhone for things like navigation and video playback.
Great video, thanks!
I support the Vision Pro totally
Me too, I just put $50,000 more into Apple stock (AAPL)
Blud you have an apple memoji as a pfp of course you support apple
@@mongooseshorts you just said it like it was in my mind
i couldn’t tell if this was sarcastic until i saw the pfp 😭
@@vicfuenteslovr Sorry my guy, but I buy Apple only
I felt burned by an early iPad and especially the first couple of Apple Watches. This makes me reluctant to buy this first release. If Apple had a track record of providing trade--ins or trade-up deals for something like this, I'd jump on it. I hope it breaks new ground and is a success. I'd like to be a part of it, but the sense that I will feel screwed in
In egypt, that is 100,000 egp for it, aka MONTHS of rent, its not worth every penny to the everyday consumer
8:24 - yes, I think people are way underestimating how stunning routinely-available 3D will be.
Not "Will Be" But More Like "Already Is"
@@ericdraven4828, I think both: it’s fantastic now, but will become even more so.
A floating handsfree ipad is just not worth $4000. That's the problem. It only promises to do things you can already do on your phone, but in a less convenient way. Same as the applewatch except it costs 4x more instead of 2x less.
Everyone who tried vision pro are youtubers with good income, bro. Of course they can buy one.
I believe voice control is going to eliminate slowness
Will it have a calculator app?
This is a revolutionary product! There’s no other technology in the world like this one. $3500 it’s a high number, but It totally worth every penny giving its advanced technology. I fully support this amazing product!
This is Apple's seed of a future technology and a palette for content providers to create for. I need this, but I'll wait for the next iteration or two when the hardware is faster, lighter, cheaper, and the battery life improves. I envision huge advances in the optics with maybe an advanced LED lens capable of adjustment for prescription eyewear instead of having them specifically crafted on an individual basis. If you're thinking I'll buy these to take 3d photos or to replace my iphone and mac book, think again. You will never realistically replace those devices unless you can wear these glasses full time.
Is it really any surprise that all of the people who were handpicked to attend the event had nothing but glowing remarks?
But I agree AVP will be a new step in consumer products, not this model but it’s future evolutions, and this device is a (expensive) taste of that future, you mention about having to take the headset off, but that’s not the picture apple has, Apple is envisioning this being a part of the human wearing it, first gen can’t quite do that (for most folks atleast) but apple is priming consumers to accept puck computing, and setting the foundations for their vision with the AVP, i believe in part the price is meant to be sticker shock, this product is not the device they want to have in the hands of consumers, but they do need a testbed of people to ensure the ecosystem that is developed actually works how they envision it, and that’s where this price comes from, only true diehard enthusiasts, developers, or fanboys will even consider this price tag, and that pool is a pretty diverse gathering to be the beta testers.
I’m excited for the AVP and (saying I can scrounge up extra funds to get it) plan on being one of those beta testers, but I know full well what I’m getting into, and that a few years from now the consumer market will have a device likely as good if not better for half the cost (or more depending on scale)
Why didn’t they show a recording being played in full-screen, only in a small box, it has a crown specifically for that right? I want to try it, not sure if I would use it only on the first month and then be left to the side.
Are we speaking of the volumetric video/pictures? Because that would be limited to The aspect ratio of the camera, unless they used AI to virtually recreate the environment outside what the cameras could capture.
@@metalmanexetreme I mean, if you record something with the vision pro itself, when you are just using the device in pass-through mode you can see the world through a camera and it covers all your field of view, why not record and rewatch it in full screen 3d?
This would be good to have on a long journey to Mars to get away from the spaceship environment. It’s almost similar to the star trek holo deck ! 😊
Thanks for sharing. I appreciate your thoughts. Blessings on your day!
My random guess is that the next iPhone will be able to record videos in 3D… so that you can watch them on your Apple Vision Pro. 😊
Agreed, I've been saying that for months.
@@digitalclips I’m looking forward to seeing the AVP in the wild. 🤗
@@digitalclips spatial video… I called it ;)
I can’t imagine anybody thinking this thing is worth the money until they’ve actually tried one. When people can walk into the Apple Store and try one out, things will change.
My question is, Can you use the M1, M2, or M3 chip in your Mac to supplement the M2 chip in the Apple Vision Pro. Two SOCs working together on 1 task. Rendering video or exporting video for example. Also, in the demo, it looks like the dual 4K monitors are on when you pick up the Apple Vision Pro to put it on. Sort of like the lift to wake on your iPhone and open to wake on your Mac. It's very cool technology and I believe the $3500 is the base price for the same M2 chip that's in the 15" Macbook Air, 256GB SSD and 8Gb of Ram. You may be able to get a RAM and SSD upgrade path similar to the new M2 Macbook Air. Most people will use the Vision Pro tethered anyway and unplug to walk around in the office or home until they sit down again and plug in. It should be enough battery lift to walk to the coffee shop and back. It should be really cool. What I'd like to see is an auto record button if the Vision Pro is removed from your head without the user's hands removing the device. Then it continues to record and send that video to icloud so it can be tracked if stolen.
It's the price for me. I'm still using 2012 MBP 15" coz I can't afford new ones. Still can't afford air pods too.
Sames is true of a Jaguar; not all things are affordable to everyone, so it doesn't change the product's viability.
@@digitalclips I didn't say product is not viable. I hate it because of the price.
Am sure the starting price is 3500 then there is an optional head strap and how much for the lenses for people who wear glasses. How much for Pro Display? Am sure you can do more than this headset and you can’t move more than 1.5 meters so you don’t bump into this
I don’t think people realize the potential of virtual 3D videos in your environment it will be insane being haunted or having whatever object spear in your real world environment it’s going to be insane
I won’t buy it, but I love to see it created. I hope it does as well as Apple hopes.
Actually Apple Vision Pro is a lot cheaper and offer more things than its direct competition. It's probably the first Apple product that I'm interested in
I can’t wait for the second one 🥳🥳
Solid assessment. And I agree. Revolutionary product that will push the segment forward. Will be much better in future iterations. But the inconvenience/comfort is the big hurdle. Until it's more comfortable than my TVs, laptop, and phone together.. to watch shows, check the internet, take Zoom calls, work in Excel, etc.. then I'll wait. No matter how "magical" it is. Magical may be cool.. doesn't mean it's efficient.
Thanks!
Aw thanks, you didn't have to super thanks 🙏
I think you skipped one of the key things about that outside display that is adding to the price. That is a *Lenticular 3D display*. While versions of these that are in use on some things, like the 3DS, aren't too expensive - they also have very narrow viewing angles. I'm pretty sure Apple is using a much more expensive version of that technology, which does existing in some niche applications.
This is the new experience to do what you already love doing on your max, iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, all on once device and pretty much all at once. It’s the most personal experience from a computing device. And as with its tech brethren and predecessors, it’s got an easy, functional, responsive and natural way to interact with it. Apple came up with the mouse, the click wheal, multi touch trackpad. Multitouch displace, and now Advanced hand eye tracking. A desktop level chip that can run anything in apples ecosystem already, a second chip dedicated to processing the hand eye tracking interface. The experience is most certainly highly accurate, fluid and precise.
I personally have nothing against the Vision Pro; however I then think to myself... the cost of this Apple Device represents about five car payments towards my dream car, or ten months of groceries, 200 hair cuts, three 24" iMacs, a trip to Europe, pay off my funeral expenses, an 88" Oled TV, three colonoscopies, an induction stove, a cruise up the Rhine, Cracker Jacks every day for life, living room furniture, an NFL ticket, a used 1972 VW, a dental implant, a new deck for my condo, a new suit, a bottle of fine wine, a new carpet for the bedroom, two Apple Studio displays, every type of Apple watch made, a trip to Hawaii to test out my Ultra Apple diving watch, several hot dates, a diamond tie clip, cashmere seat covers for my Subaru...
It’s still a pre production model, so we don’t know what tweaks they will have done between now and next year
This is too expensive for me right now. But I can see the future potential, and I think that even at this same expensive price, some day it won't be too expensive.
I'll probably keep using my phone for quick interactions, but for long interactions this could potentially overtake my MacBook in the future.
Vision Pro is competitively priced against its true VR competitors such as headsets from Magic Leap and Microsoft but far superior.
It seems the people complaining the most about this headset are those expecting INSTANT gratification. I really WANT to get the Vision Pro, but right now it is out of my price range. But that’s okay. This first iteration is showing where the technology will be going. Developers will improve on the idea. And when the second or third iteration is released, I’m sure it will be cheaper and lighter, not to mention headsets from other companies that will follow. And when Apple brings this technology to a pair of glasses, then watch out.
Why people complain on the price. Didn’t HTC come out with 5000, also apple making this pushes the industry of vr.
I will happily buy this as soon as it’s available in my country
Everyone thought I was crazy for buying the first gen iPhone for $500 on the very first day. And that was very expensive back in the day.
The only way this interests me at this price point is if Apple can secure the rights with sports leagues to allow me to choose any game on any day and sit court side, behind home plate, etc.
12:16 - yes, not only do users need to find the Vision Pro’s niche, but developers need to find it first!
I would buy it in a heart beat if it is comfortable enough to use at least 6h in a day, it doesn't matter if It is tether to a power outlet. I work as a programmer and I love to travel, my main problem is not being able to use a big screen while traveling, if this can fix that I'm sold, no matter the price tag.
I think you would review one but there are just the things that were said on the presentation :D
Well the 27” Studio display is $1,600. This is a “fill the room display” if you price it at $1,600 that means you have a $1,900 M2 computer strapped to your head. So it doesn’t seem outrageously priced for the type of display you get.
Imagine if they used all that amazing hardware to run top tier VR games in the headset. They could blow every other gaming headset out of the water. Instead, we got a virtual iPad screen stretcher. That being said, I will still probably buy it.
Too overwhelming for market going for . It a “ perfect first impression “ device . In order for reg peeps that we’ll off to understand concept of VR as not be able to dismiss it . Not really for gaming but the AR stuff should be neat for games with eye and hand track controls. Ease of use important , cannot be too complicated. Gotta ease um in . Meta got everyone else but they forcing this , we good . Once we hit number they want to consider mass adoption achieved and then ball perpetually rolling .
They still don’t fully understand how powerful this tech is , to be honest neither do most VR gamers lol .
This just another stepping stone to mass adoption and they not stopping till get it .
Head fatigue, sweaty head, foggy lens, eye fatigue and motion sickness how can we overcome all those barriers. I see the Vision Pro as a remarkable invention because of what it can do but the current limitations must be solved first before it's safe and enjoyable to use.
This device is not designed to replace your phone which is still the first go to device for quick reactions.
I am saving up my pennies for this. I'm a ghostwriter that utilizes voice dictation software extensively and only use my iPad for all productive work. It should be easy enough to make the switch to the Apple Pro Vision. As long as the dictation system is as smooth as what is found with iPadOS 17 then it will be able to open doors for those with severe disabilities and add new way to work for people such as myself.
Greg, you are handsome! 😅
“I want it but it’s too pricey” OR “I can afford it but I don’t need it.” OR “it looks ridiculous with only 2 hour battery.”
Seems like these are the most common complaints. I think people will change their mind once they try it, after all it is really a new experience of using VR/AR for spatial computing.
I don't get the price, im sure a lot of money went into developing it, but 3500 for a phone for your eyes with a few extra cameras
We need to stop thinking of this as a portable device. It’s more portable than a computer. But it’s probably more akin to a high end desktop. Just not limited to your desk.
Nobody has mentioned anything about how hot or warm it gets. Also the over the top strap.
i saw a review that state there is some sort of venting system that circulates the warm air from the headset.
Not sure why people keep talking about the price. Apple specifically called this “Pro” which should immediately tell you this device is not targeting main stream users and will be at a higher price point. All pro devices are more expensive. Also, there was another CZcamsr that did a good comparison of the first Apple computers and what those prices were in todays dollars, spoiler alert, it was way more than $4,000.
Hey Greg! Off-topic question: can you tell me how to find your cool video, where you had a very funny one at the beginning about how everyone was tired of rumors, but you will continue to tell them because we want these rumors. Your voice was also changed by a modulator and there were more graphic inserts. Thank you
I have no hatred towards the Vision Pro, tbh, but my mother says that they need to get all the bugs fixed. If I want one, I gotta apply for a job, first, since my checking account doesn't have enough.
people need to stop thinking of this as just a headset. Because its a computer. its a laptop replacement is what this is. imaging not having a laptop you just carry this thing around you can setup your setup any where you want a full desktop setup on the go this is brillant. this will replace my mac finally.
Without a real release then real life use we can’t claim it worth that money. That is also true that with that price they targeting a very small segment of the market.
I agreed with everything said. I want to add it’s not mobile so it’s never going to be a status symbol. Also apple will price gouge on those batteries. I assume the glasses will be the one that gets everyone on board. Also I want it so maybe it will take off big
How much is 2 x 4K TV’s, surround sound system, a VR headset and a Mac…
Many people bought 1TB iPhone and 2TB iPad pros and macs…those can easily buy this Vision Pro. Those who will not upgrade iphone every years now can choose between apple watches, vision pro etc to buy their money
People were skeptical about the iPad too.
Will have to wait and see what this technology becomes. Thing is people where hating the Apple Watch when it first came out. I waited until the Apple Series 5 Watch with the oxygen monitoring, and fall detection. Pandemic and I am old.
Thing I always love is when people talked about the price of the Apple Watch. I have owned wrist watches that have cost even more than the Apple Watch, and for the most part all they did was tell time.
the first iPhone was $500 ten years ago..... for a phone..... guess what it was worth. new tech costs more. in 5 years it'll be half that easily and have better specs
But one thing I wanna mention. Like you said in the beginning it’s a first generation product so it will get slimmer and better and you’ll see in 2-3 years everything will have this haha
I can’t wait. I bought the Apple AirPod Max an it is the best headset I ever had. I also have the regular AirPod’s. I think this will be amazing.
Playing games in this would be insane
Video games are going to get more realistic.
The classic saying “Don’t knock it till you try it”
I’m partially blind (from a disease that regular glasses can’t help) and I’ve never been more excited about the future of Apple accessibility tech
This is not a product. This is a pre-product. It is even known that they cannot manufacture more than 1 million within the first year. This is a pre-product device, by which Apple, developers and some users start learning from each other for developing a real product in the near future. A part of this learning is Apple collecting data to train its related AI models for the future product. So it is also a data collection device. So don’t take it so serious as a product, but definitely take it serious to track where the tech will go towards in 5-10 years.
Apple will never admit that the killer application for this device is watching adult content.
The chips are high tech. Everything in it is eye tech. But the most important thing is “ease of use”. It’s why the iPod and iPhone / App Store. were so successful. And Apple Pay hasn’t been.
Vision pro is the first step toward the future of computing, it costs what it does because it’s first generation new technology
I think the most important part about the Vision Pro is its operating system, so visionOS, and the apps developers now can start building for it. This operating system then also will be the base for future advanced and hopefully smaller and lighter goggles. Well possble that in the far future everyone wears computer-glasses as light and small as normal glasses replacing the iPhone. The next logic step then will be Elon Musk's Neuralink-Brain-Chip, so a direct interface to the brain. Even this one still could make use of Apple's visionOS.
This thing is going to be great for game development
It's got no controllers. Without controllers the games will be very limited.
@@dtz1000 ummm never said I was was developing games for this thing just said this would be great for game development…. Meaning multi monitors, bigger screens for designing 2d worlds in unity instead of being confined to one 13’’ screen
@@lupusrexstudio7327 Oh, I see. I thought you were talking about VR games.
@@dtz1000 oh no I’m not really into vr. But if you ever worked on Unity it’s a bit of a pain working with assets without an actual mouse. I currently just use the built in trackpad on my M2 air.
Is Apple going to offer 36 months interest free financing, or are they expecting people to pay cash?
I can't wait for Vision Pro. I want to experience family photos and videos in virtual 3D. I'll need prescription lenses made to fit the set, but I'm okay with that.
And over the next decade future iterations of Vision Pro will become more affordable too.
You have no choice. You will wait.
I have air pods pro but i still hate them as they replaced something which was included or provided for a lower price and did the same job , better than air pods in some cases like games
The issue is like a mac you aren’t gonna touch that power so it’s pointless to be that expensive it’s running a phone os. Is there practical uses for it sure but half the stuff it’s doing the quest 3 is doing and that’s 3 grand cheeper and plays games
Dude you’re a metal gear fan too???
I mean if you’re talking to me well i like technology and stuff like that but it doesn’t mean im a metal fan 😅
There are also Apple devices and software that are high-end that don't sell well compared to competitors after being in the market for years. Apple Homepod and Apple TV are dwarfed by Rokus, Google and Amazon's competing products. My prediction is the Oculus Quest 3 will dominate the AR/VR space for $499. It will have 85% of the features of the Vision Pro for a fraction of the price, and tech journalists who have gotten a sneak peak are already raving about its improved AR features.
