The Jay Leno call is hilarious! Often, Jay Leno would include a lot jokes about Americans being overweight, and constantly expanding waist lines because of fast food. Frasier's line about the heat lamp is genius!
It would make a fun quiz to play all of the calls back to back. Kinda impressive that they got such well known actors to do these little bits, considering it was the first season.
Most of those people were able to literally phone in their dialogue. Most of them probably thought it was a fun way to spend a bit of their time, even before the show was a popular hit. I mean, it couldn't have taken them more than a few takes to get the calls recorded. I also loved how they made a lot of the calls ironic based on the actor. Christopher Reeve, who played Superman, was afraid of open spaces while Piper Laurie, the mom from Carrie, was strict about her daughter's behavior. This show was SO amazingly witty!
Also, Henry Mancini, who does the caller that hates his own voice composed Moon River and Frasier plays that write after he talks to him in that episode! I've been wanting to tell someone that for YEEAAARRS!
