  • Just installed the SPY 5000M 2-Way Motorcycle Alarm System. Comes with Microwave/Proximity sensor - Shock sensor - Remote Start & Disarm - LED light - parking light notification connections and 2 FOBs (keychain remotes) WARNING!!! DO NOT KEEP YOUR REMOTE attached to your motorcycle key. The vibrations while riding is HARMFUL.
    FAQs:
    Yes, this alarm works. I am/was not paid to endorse this product. The proximity sensor is adjustable and haven't had any issues. The shock sensor is adjustable too. It can be overwhelming to install once you see the installation guide but if you attack one wire at a time, it's less intimidating. Red, to your battery. The black (short) labeled ground to your frame, the 2 yellows to your parking lights and you have a functioning alarm. Connect the LED, SHOCK SENSOR, PROXIMITY SENSOR, and SIREN and you're good to go.
    Connecting the remote start/disarm should be done by a professional or through trial and error. Have back up fuses, a (cheap) multi-meter and follow the wires from your (start button) and (ignition -key switch) and you'll figure it out. Buy extra wire... about 4 - 5 feet of red and black wires incase you need to extend some of the attachments. Zip ties and electrical tape needed.
    Feel free to ask any questions and I'll do my best to help out.
    zmc.com.sg/ - for more info
    Email: Kennethlow@zmc.com.sg - The General Manager that helped me.
    Basically, you'll need...
    Electric tape to wrap/hide the colored wires after you install everything. ( 1 or 2 rolls.) - Also when you connect extra wires together.
    Wire splicers to cut the plastic shielding to expose the wires.
    Wire connectors (optional)
    Extra fuses (like the ones included) in case you accidentally blow a fuse installing the alarm.
    Zip-ties to secure the wires together and/or to run them along your frame. (The zip ties worked awesome to secure the antennae
    Alcohol wipes to clean areas of your bike where you are going to attach/install parts of the alarm.
    Double sided tape. (about four 2 inch squares... these work good to hold the alarm parts to your plastic fairings.
    Extra wires ( one small roll of red wire and small roll of black wire) I used this to extend the wires on the alarm. Depending on where you mount the individual parts of the alarm, some of the wire thats included isnt long enough. This will come in handy.
    Be creative and keep in mind, you don't want anyone to see the alarm or the wires. (That's why I use electric ape to wrap the wires so it looks like its part of the bike's electrical wires.)
    Good luck, hope that helps.

    Just wanted to say thanks for making this video, it is by far the best review video I have seen, I will be picking one of these up in the near future.

    The Scorpio is by far the best but also the most expensive. This alarm has worked flawlessly every time. I park it in front of clubs.. when ppl stand too close.. it gives a warning signal and it vibrates my remote. Rain is a pain with the proximity sensor but thats common with most alarms. I would recommend this.

  • @bishop6
    @bishop6  Před 13 lety +1

    The Scorpio is probably the best of the best... But so far since January I have had no problems. I park my bike next to a night club and people used to touch my bike, lean on it, and a few times got on it to take pictures. Since I have had the alarm, it has prevented all that from happening. The rain triggers the microwave sensor..and the LED light sometimes stays on but I think it's my fault. All in all it's awesome. I've installed four on my friends bike already:)

  • @bishop6
    @bishop6  Před 11 lety

    Quite honestly, this is a 1st for me. I have since this video installed 40+ alarms on mostly Hondas... they are probably the most easiest bikes to install this alarm on. Other than one unit being bad from the factory.. there hasn't been issues like the one you have described. Double check your installation. Make sure your unit is properly grounded.

    I bought this alarm, asked the bikeshop to put it on for me unfortunately its nowhere as sensitive as yours. the shock alarm only works when I hit the rear of my bike around the rear seat, the microwave sensor only works when i sit on the bike.
    Do you have any suggestion I can move the brain/microwave sensor around? Also which one is the front and rear of the microwave alarm? Is it the side with the sensor sensitivity adjuster? Or the one without it?
    Also the bike shop refuse to connect the CDI wire because they claimed that there were users who spoilt their CDI with the alarm system and they dont wanna risk their business. What do you think?

The remote start isn't a necessity and I don't expect any issues with a basic alarm install, but the confusion most people have is with the grey and pink wires and what to do with them? Any clarity would help. Thanks. Also will the anti hi-jack still work from the key fab, if the remote start wires aren't connected?

    I took out the fuse so that I could come home without the alarm sound

    Hello i purchased this alarm to install on my 08 Hayabusa, and like everyone here I'm having trouble identifying the correct wires on it, so far I've figured where to power the unit and the blinkers to make it work just as an alarm but i would like to install the anti hijacking feature of it with out having to use the remote start part of it, and also I'm having problems setting the sensitivity of the microwave sensor even though is turned up all the way I'm not getting results i literally have to put my hand on it for it to go off could this be a manufacturers issue?
    if you could help i would greatly appreciate it thanks.

  • @bishop6
    @bishop6  Před 13 lety

    The micro wave aka proximity sensor is included. You can toggle it on or off using the remote. To adjust the sensitivity use the dial on the sensor itself. You have to play with it to adjust it to your needs. Rain makes it alarm but that happens with every brand. Try to install it near plastic more than metal. The less metal interfearance, the better.

    Hi bishop6, sorry this is a long explanation but I'm currently installing this alarm on my cbr600 f3 and I'm having this issue in testing right now - I attach my battery and the alarm is disarmed, it arms itself after like 10-15 seconds and after a few seconds shows the impact sensor being triggered and sets off the warning and then the alarm. After disarming it just does the same thing again, and the led is constantly flashing 4 times to indicate the impact sensor alarm.. I'm testing with my bike on a stand and without the ignition kill or auto start connected - just positive, the 2 grounds, and signals - I'm not sure why I'm having this issue.. My manual doesn't show anything about adjusting the shock sensitivity, do you have any insight?? It would be greatly appreciated

Alarms works, sounds operates etc, but arms itself after 30 seconds during warm up of bike. Is this because i havent done the other wires (Brown, Pink, Blue and i dont recall the other atm). Or maybe the learning code button? Any help would be appreciated.

    @kparada4 : It wasn't too difficult at all. Don't let all the wires intimidate u. The red goes to power, the short black is ground and you basically have a working alarm. The rest are accessories such as your parking lights, mircowave sensor, remote start, etc.
    Just work one wire/one pair at a time and b4 u kno it, you're done.

    @JDarrII : that feature is determined (only) by your bikes settings. most bikes won't start if it's in gear. some bikes won't start but the engine cranks (enough that the bike can lurch forward enough for it to come off the kick stand)
    Honestly, most people don't usually have issues, but I hate leaving my bike parked in neutral that's why I don't use auto start. SF had tooo many hills.

    I have a problem with my remote controller. I took off the battery of my remote control en then put it again in it.
    The problem that I'm facing now is that there's no connection between my remote control and the "unit". When I push on a button of my remote control nothing happens except for the beep-sound on my remote control. There are also no stripes of the signal strength on my remote.
    Could you please tell me what is going wrong?
    Thank you

    Hi bishop6, can I get some help to configure the remote control, I don´t know why it is not working, the LCD is not showing anything other than there is no signal, does not show it is armed or unarmed, when I press the unarm button the the signal icon flash but the light does not turn on. I can confiure the date and time on the remote but that´s it. I know we can configure the remote using the little button on the module, but I tried several different things and did not work. Thanks in advance..

    How do you set the shock to be more active? Or more sensitive

    @flipmode00 : I have my perimeter sensor in my rear cowling... I've also installed some inside the left front fairing near where a person would stand if they were about to get on the bike. The sensor is powerful and adjustable so anywhere is fine... Test a few locations b4 u permanently mount it.
    The antennae is water proof so as long as it's mounted securely u should have zero issues with it. The more metal its near, the stronger the signal.

    in order to keep costs low, they most likely didn't invest too much in the remotes. Use it as a learning lesson. My remotes are shrink wrapped to prevent moisture and dirt. I NEVER have them on the keychain on the bike... the vibrations and bumping around eventually will cause problems.
    They're not too expensive to replace either.
