Look at Norm's grin, he wasn't putting it on just for the sketch, dude's legit really enjoying himself here
Norm’s genuine smile in this sketch is priceless. So genuine. He looked like he was having a blast!
"don't put me in any of your _gay little sketches..."_
~ Norm
~ (MacDonald)
written by Norm as a joke on Kattan and Brendan being weirdly close all week (they went on to make Monkeybone), Will is playing Kattan, Thats why Will makes those Kattan-style shrieks, bc Chris K refused to do anything w Norm cuz Norm always trolled him
LMAO great info!
I want this to be true, but do you have a source maybe?
So true!
Sounds very likey indeed, but once again: any source?
lmao
The shot where everyone is scowling except Norm, who is grinning, is hilarious.
Norm's smile make this whole sketch. RIP
I didn't know that Brendan can sing that well. He could've been great as a Disney Prince.
He is to me
He still could be! Don't count our guy out yet
He actually sings in Airheads 😜🤘🏻🎸
Dude Norm singing that 1 line was so beautiful it cured my alcoholism
Norm smiling💀😂
Definitely a Norm sketch 😂😂😂
Rest in peace Norm, he was the best to come out of SNL
I randomly sing "I'll be your buddy ....BUDDY! "
He didn't come out, he died deeply closeted.
Ferrell sandler and norm are legends the type of dudes who will be remembered for ever
@@homemadepie91😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I love Norm so much.
Norms sadistic smile just says it all about the man! Absolute Legend
what the H? looked like written by will...then norm said"not gay enough". haha the other cast members horrified faces and norm with a huge grin. classic.
It's just like that meme with the horrified women and the one guy grinning happily.
I wish Norm had really blurted that out.
Make America Brendan Fraser Again
You'll be happy to know he just got cast in a new Martin Scorsese film.. He broke down and cried, he was so happy..
FAX
Make America Norm Again
Ugh, I miss Brendan so much! So glad he made a comeback with Doom Patrol!
Anyone else notice this sketch basically included all the ingredients for Buddy the Elf? Lol too funny.
Here for Brendan Fraser's jawline.
Almost as epic as Norm.
You might think a gold ship or a diamond ship would be the most valuable ship there is, but this song gets it right: the most valuable ship is friendship!
A diamond ship, I don't even know if such a vessel could float
RIP NORM MACDONALD..... YOU WERE THE BEST!
Just the lighting and the amused look of disbelief was over the top funny. The man didnt even make a joke. Man theres no one like this huy.
I never knew Norm overlapped with Will being on the show. God I'll miss him
Ferrell started in 1995 as a regular cast member and left in 2002. Norm had been there since 1993 until early 1998.
Both were, however, coming back on SNL irregularly as featured actors (or as hosts) since their respective departures from being a member of the regular cast.
Like, there is one sketch here, on the YT, from 2009 where Ferrell plays Alex Trebek once again on the parody of Celebrity Jeopardy and MacDonald appears there too, as his traditional Burt Reynolds/Turd Ferguson persona. :-)
One of the most iconic SNL sketches of all time has them both in it together. Celebrity Jeopardy =).
Ferrell also said “Hey Norm” as Harry Carey during Colin’s first week hosting update. Not sure if it was intentional, but he did it again later in the sketch and said “what do I know, I’m dead”
This is awesome. I'd never seen this before. I got four laughs in this and Norm got three of them. The first one was Norm's smiling face when everyone else looked displeased. The other laugh was when Will sang that weird part at the end of the song after Norm sang.
Lol 3:28 Molly Tim and Colin trying not to laugh
😂😂😂
I'd hang out with Brendan ten days of the week. Guy is so cool, and so misunderstood, abused by our society.
Theres alot of men like him that was beaten down by the divorce courts and some harlot. You should reach out to them and be buddies. Ten days of the week!
Tony Randall(RIP) + Daughter + Vegetarian Meal = Soy Miss Unger's Food.
Norms smile and wills awkwardness 🤣
At 4:00 the amount of friendship becomes too much for him.
I mean, norm putting together this joke explains the smile
I laugh. Every time. Norm seals the deal on this sketch. RIP.
This must be how "Elf" was hatched.
i love the way norm is always so disconnected. his delivery is so fucking incredible in this, it feels like every line is bursting out of him
Not sure why but this made me laugh.... a lot
Norm was gold.
I forgot how adorable Brendan used to be
He still is! He’s a beautiful soul🌹
Still is lol
He still be really adorable!
He's still an adorable teddy bear.
Hip hop Napoleon, the prequel to Hamilton.
Will’s noise @4:02 💀
@BRENDAN FRASER, did you goose him at 4:02?
I like seeing will and norm doing stuff together lol
that weird 'yelp' by WIll just shows he's one of the best SNL players ever.... 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Aaahhh.... Season 23, the season before Fallon, Parnell and Sanz came in.
That's when MadTV was post-Sasso
Before the dark times...
Holy crap that was amazing! Never would have guessed.... I have to see more of this episode now!
Norm
4:01 WTF?? Hahahhaha
Ahhh he's a good man
That guys a real jerk
Norm! 😎
Will Ferrell & Brendan Fraser they were literally just at the beginning of their great careers
Well, Fraser was pretty much well-established in Hollywood by that point. Had starred as a lead on several successful films.
This sketch is from 1997 and that year he had a big hit with George of the Jungle. Before that, he was on School Ties, Airheads, Encino Man or With Honors, among others. His breakthrough year was 1992.
Norm is the best
Wtf, Norm. 😂
Brendan can really sing!
Normie, Normie, Normie...
Hockey Normie!
It was weird seeing Norm - who's usually the straight man - acting goofy, but after learning that he wrote this sketch to make fun of Brendan and Will, it makes sense.
Colin Quinn’s hip hop Napoleon sketch? Lin Manuel Miranda has some ‘splainin’ to do.
Omg..👌 i don't know how many tyms im watched it he have lot of humour..
Such a cutie! So young here!
Brendan Fraser born in 1968! He was 29 Years Old in 1997 when he made this late show.
BRENDAN YOU ARE AMAZING!!!!
Omg why is Norm so cute
Thats how norm tests em
At 1:56 Colin sounds very much like Carroll O’Connor
4:06 First frame of rest of the cast cant help but smile
Brendan needs to host again
Brendan do more features!
Yes! "Buddy!"
Colin Quinn rules
RIP NORM
Norm 😆
Simon and Gayfunkel
Tim Meadows laughs 3:31.
Norm broke him in pretty much every sketch they did together.
Awesome
He was so cute
He still is!
Fuck I remember seeing this live! And it was my first time seeing norm.
🏆RIP Norm🪦✌️
egal was alle sagen!ich liebe Branden Fraser♡
Reminds me of Simon and Garfunkel
:-D :-D :-D
Have you ever considered bundling your home and auto insurance?
Will Ferrel went on to play Buddy the Elf
( there is zero connection to this sketch)
is this where they got the idea for Elf?
I farted.
This is what got the hfpa guy In Trouble grabbing Fraser.
Hmmm, Hip-Hop Napoleon could’ve made a pretty good musical.
I would have said that was stupid had this not been a post-Hamilton era.
Best friends my ass, Will and Brendan hadn't done a movie together yet
They were willing to best friend your ass but you never called.
I didn't know Brendan could sing great. why didn't he develop a musical talent?
Norm doing a joke inside another joke on account'a that sketch needin' a little somethin' extra.
Pretty sure norm went off script here hahah
I really wanted his story about his buddy to go off on a tangent that goes nowhere
Brendan was always that weird his personality was different for lack of a better word, he was too much as an average joe to ever be seen as a celebrity that’s just my opinion he is a celebrity and a great one! But will always have that odd man out personality and please a big mental round of applause to Anna gastyer; molly Shannon; chris Kattan; Tim meadows; Collin Quinn and of course Norm McDonald the best final cast members of snl
He did give an awkward persona on snl when I watched it
Did Colin Quinn ever do the hip hop Napoleon skit?
I'd love to know too. :-)
This was not the sketch I remember
Kiss the bottle. 2020 is over. BAK
What I realize after seeing this and reading Norm's book is that Norm was making comedy out of the likely fact he had been molested as a child.
?
#Bromance
They should have used Brendan in the Cobra Panthers musical sketch, but I guess Robert Downey jr was ok .
1:17
4:01
I love Brendan Fraser but this was a weird skit.
Why didn't they include the rest of the castmates? (Jim Breuer, Chris Kattan, Tracy Morgan & Cheri Oteri was absent in this one)
Who cares
@@oddlookingduck I do
Will was playing Chris Kattan
They must have been preparing for the other sketches. You must not forget that this was being shot and aired live, in real time.
The only solution would have been to make this as the very last sketch on the given outing, which probably was not the case.
@@subraxas According to SNL Archives, this actually was the final sketch of the night. I don't know why the rest of the cast wasn't there.
I would love to hear the story of this sketch. How did they get norm to play along somethin so lame
Norm wrote the joke
RIP in Piece Brendan.
We miss when you were happy and had a career.
He died? I didn't even know he was sick.
Piece of what?
Watch Doom Patrol. He kicks ass.
@@tonysnark1530: Now Norm's punchline makes sense. He wanted everyone to say it after he died from 9 years of cancer.
Remember when being grossed-out by gayness could be played for laughs? Ah, simpler times.
That's because there are unfortunately lots of daft idiots out there who took jokes and sketches, such as this one, way too seriously; meaning that they genuinely believed that the authors were truly conveying that the "gayness" was something gross and wrong, which only caused further problems within the real-life society, because they then blindly believed that their sickening views were justified and widely supported.
These dumbos thus spoilt everything.
It's a post-September 11 world.
@@skipads5141can't even rub your hot pssy on a guys shoulder in west texas anymore.
I'm still amazed that with a *full week to memorize a few lines,* the cast & hosts are *always reading cue-cards* like a robot...and getting paid well to do it(even Norn is doing it & he wrote this sketch). With a full week I'd have everyone's lines memorized.
Because the show is only written in a week, writers are always changing lines around up until the last minute. Cue cards are a very important part of the show because of this.
@@maryschroeder1533 - Every sketch gets changed? Bullshit. 1 or 2 maybe but it *doesn't* explain-away the fact that they ALL are ALWAYS reading cue-cards. The root-cause is laziness & a toxic work environment.
@@CARTOONIVERSE1The actors have no idea which lines are going to be changed, so it's always important for them to read the cue cards. Why do you think Bill Hader would crack up so much as Stefan? The writers would change a ton of lines around on him so he was reading lines he didn't expect.
You realize the sketches arent finalized until like friday afternoon right?? And they have like 20 and cut half out by saturday night dress rehearsal. Doesnt leave much time to memorize… and not to mention they do it every single week lol
These are written *DURING* the week, not fully fleshed out and handed to them a week in advance. Then there are all the other skits they do that get cut.
Norm stole the sketch of course. Why was he pointing down at the end?
HI EVERYONE
UN FUCK MY SHIT UP PLEASE
You're not an alpha like Will is at 4:00 min.
Mans ain’t even playing guitar
