And if you are not able to do that I don't know what kind of analyst you are. And they are getting paid to be informed about the NBA. And a lot...
they know basketball and are eager to talk about basketball "in the spurt of the moment", they didn't study players' names and numbers ; they want to discuss the play first. this is like those interviews with coaches where they are eager to discuss the play and just ramble on because their brains are working faster than their mouth
Shaq is talking about a defensive player not contesting the shot, Chuck is talking about an offensive player that Luka could have passed to if Finney Smith was properly guarded

@@JohnnytNatural Nah, thing is, once Chuck got beyond his generation of b-ball players, he's always been that way. Lol! I love the guy, but he doesn't watch a lot of the current game outside of work....and judging by a few years ago when they had he and Kenny Smith talking college b-ball during March Madness he watches even less college ball.
Anybody who watch Mavs games know that up until a couple games ago, the safest option was to let everyone else besides Luka shoot especially Tim đ

I saw many teams that did not double Luka and the guy dropped a 40 pt efficient triple double easily.
Chuck was not talking about not doubling Luka the whole game. Just on that specific play.
@Ric Caliolio That's my interpretation too. The guy can be very clumsy with his wording though so I get if people heard it the other way.
He was also talking about where and when you double him.
Also, Dallas loss half those games.... so there's that.
I've also seen luka not get doubled and have inefficient chucking triple doubles a lot
They hate giving this man his credit
I love how these analysts have a discussion about what NBA players "Number 11" and "Number 26" should be doing

Like chuck said thatâs why they took an L
@@Hcfzx It actually worked when Raptors,Pistons and Bucks used it against Luka so
Chuck just jelous
Heâs explains it situationally. Youâre in the lead and your initiating double coverage almost half-court, and when you do the rotations arenât done right.
They need to get stronger mentally and not overestimate Luka. Can he make 30-foot bombs? Yes, but not every time. Make Dallas shoot them selves in the game with the long threes, not uncontested threes or layups.
A wide open 3 aint smart
One of the best wins of the season for the Mavs so far.

is it just me or is this beat đ„đ„đ„
Luka is not dangerous that far from the basket? Not sure what you thinkin Chuck.
Dude think its 96. That 3 point line is these players free throw line now lol
Charles Barkley has become the voice for Basketball, like how Madden was the voice for Football, imagine if he announced games.
He's done a few before but honestly Chucks not good on the sideline. He analyzes the exact same way he does here in the studio and if sometimes Shaq and them think he talks too long or takes forever to get a thought out in studio imagine how much worse it is during live game action.
That's a good comparison.
No way. Madden was a great commentator. He actually talked about the Xâs and Oâs not his opinion.
chucks not analyzing, but entertaining.
Itâs hilarious that the best sports show involves guys that donât even know nba personnel better than a casual fan
That's how good Luka was, as he made the Nuggets commit those lapses late in the game.
âLuka is not dangerous from that deepâ Then why do teams double this dude from that far deep all the time đ€Ł
Luka is dangerous from all around the court. You canât double him because he will find the open teammate on the other end of the court or you can have your best defender on him and Luka will just cook him to the rim or on a step back 3
Someone should show Charles the clip of Luka sinking a 3 from 5 feet behind the 3 point line in the 1st quarter. Then maybe he'll understand why they're doubling him out there.
Word. Like you can tell he sleeps during games until they say its time to go back on the air. LUKA RANGE IS UNLIMITED AND PLUS HE LOVES THE 3's from the elbow, which i think is the reason ehy they doubled him there because they thought he was getting ready to size up dribble before rising up.
He cant shoot

4:53 At this moment is where the defense made the MISTAKE.
Either Murray or Gordon should have STAYED on the perimeter.
4:56 At this point, Murray chose to follow Hardaway in the paint instead of float at the passing lane of the corner; Jokic can handle the paint.
5:00 No matter what you choose at this point is TROUBLE; as both your BIG man is on the perimeter.
5:02 If Jokic did NOT show on the screen; it's an EASY drive for Luka as Gordon would be on his hips.
If Luka drives, Wood is on the DUNKER spot and Hardaway is on the corner 3.(A much EASIER shot than center 3)
5:03 If Brown rotated in a timely manner;(and Pope) the ball would just swing from the wing 3 TO THE PAINT.
(Jokic and Gordon is at the perimeter)
Double team or not in 5:02.
Nuggets defense is in TROUBLE at that point.
Because of the MISTAKE in 4:53.
Shaq and Kenny are right. Even though I wouldn't have doubled luka 11 has to rotate, the guy on the close block has to rotate to the corner and the man on the far block rotates to the pass to the rim. You have to make sure you rotate fast especially when it's the yame winning shot
Defense is not easy for some people, even LeBron is bad at it
Thatâs true but Chuck is right too they shouldnât have even doubled Luka at that point. He is really far from the three point line and he is going towards the corner. Unless thatâs Curry or Lillard that should be a one on one until he attacks downhill.
@@user-dh7dj3yw1b Well you donât watch Luka play because wings are his most lethal 3pt shot and he easily has the range to make those shots matter of fact earlier in the game he made 2 deep 3âs from both sides of the wings. You canât guard him because of his height and passing ability and IQ he can make every single pass in basketball with ease.
@@joesutherland9354 you clearly donât know basketball why are you talking to me?đ€Ł

"I tell ya Ernie, you'd be great on Jeapordy. You know all that useless stuff." đ€Ł Chuck is straight up every time.
Shout out to South Toms River New Jersey !!!!
Chuck said the best player on the team shouldnât be the leading scorer every night, but I feel thatâs what the best players are. The player who average the most per night. I get the usage side but still a weird comment.
Shaq and Kenny were right on the last play analysis. You double Luka because you'll live with anyone else taking the last shot other than the best player. Now, if you're going to double him, number 11 has to commit to the full rotation over to Finney-Smith and force him to make the extra pass to Dinwiddie, and then number 5 has to rotate to him to force the corner extra pass to Wood with about 2 seconds on the shot clock and have the center make a 20 footer to beat you.
Everything you said would be accurate for any team besides this Mavs team. You simply just gave the best 3pt shooter on the Mavs the easiest 3 to shoot in the NBA which heâs 40% from 3 on the year and 46% on corner 3âs. Meanwhile DFS is shooting 34% from 3. It wouldâve ended the same exact way thatâs why when other guys on the Mavs start hitting there shots itâs really hard to guard them because Luka commands so much attention and there shooters are extremely streaky perfect example is Hardaway.
@@joesutherland9354 You have a valid point. However, I'm always forcing the issue as much as possible and make Wood take a rushed shot because the shot clock was winding down, not a wing 3 pt shooter. In both cases doubling Luka was still the right decision to get the ball out of his hands so Chuck was bugging lol.
@@blackpow3r Wood was sitting on Lukas left and in the corner where they had a 3 vs 2 ( defenders ) its the easiest 3. I wouldâve done the exact same thing as Denver did and just deal with DoeDoe making a straight on catch and shoot 3 with time running down. To DoeDoeâs left was Dinwiddie and he has no issue hitting that easy shot so they were dammed if they do and dammed if they donât. It goes to show how valuable Luka is that you can try and get him off the ball but a nice behind the back pass can end the game ya gotta pick your poison.

I wish chuck understood jokic was gonna have to switch on him and the nuggets did want that so they did a high hedge trap to allow jokic to rotate back to the paint or another player besides luka
So Chuck goin to act like Luka havenât hit big shots from that deep before or he just donât know? If anything Luka is more likely to hit a deep shot just because itâs pressure
That was finny who hit that last 3 when they doubled luka, not Timmy.
I swear chuck has CTE. Itâs LUKA DONCIC. Far and away their best player. Of course they donât want the all in his handsđ THJ is a threat but they made them make the extra pass duh
Scoring is what Luka does whatâs the problem with him scoring Chuck???
What team holds that that bizarre 1 point win record?
The Mavs actually win if opponents double Luka. He is such a crafty passer and could find the open man. The only time team likes to leave open in the Mavs roster is Bricks Bullocks who for some reason can missed 0-10 in a game.
I guess this answers my question why Luka always shots average from 3 teams guard him like heâs Steph or Dame

Charles is right, there's a time to blitz Luka and try and make him give it up and that was not it. Just ended up giving them an open look. Obviously he's a problem but I don't think you can give up an open look like that, let Luka make the tough shot.
Itâs sillier once you see was that letting Luka ISO and brick was working until that last play where they didnât for that shot.
@@Poptienza03 but the elbow 3 is lukas sweet spot in the clutch
Chuck is right for a change
But thats the argument tho right? Do you want to give a contested shot to a superstar or a wide open shot to a role player? I think if you're on defense you'd rather the role player shoot an open shot or at least, lets make the role player make a decision with the ball. As opposed to, lets see if the superstar can beat us.
Dont these coaches (or players) ever learn? Teams build around their star players with guys who love to just step in and make just the right amount of effort to help their team when they see an opening for it. It doesnât happen most of the time but when it does, guess whoâs there waiting for that moment. Make the necessary adjustments and move on.

Jokic needs another superstar
"Why are you doubling Luka?" What? you want him to average 40?
TNT was going to pay Charles Barkley $400 Million for his new contract. But then an accountant reviewed each episode again and realized he makes each point 2 times so they reduced the deal by half.

Why don't they just let Wood ball i the 4th closing lineup. mavs were up when he was playing cos they can't double Luka. Now Mavs took him out put Powell in everytime they double Luka they rely on their 3pt shooters to make the shot, it is not really sustainable in the long run i would rather have a 3 level scorer with Luka than Powel.
