    Your speil at the end about your O8 and XRT is exactly why you should curve you value system a little more. Because Traxxas makes everything from plastic which is cheaper than metal mostly. So it drops the score of the truck unnecessarily. Great system and great overall vid brother thanks…

    Nicely thought out not fanboyish review of the Traxxas XRT, I'm kind of thinking about buying one of these trucks in 2025 for my 25th birthday if they will still make them by then but i'm a little worried about the durability and the stock electronics quality. I already own an older X-Maxx 8s and Outcast 8s EXB V1 that i plan to build up early next year. But i might instead of getting the XRT i might spend that 1,000 and mod up my X-Maxx to be like Jason Perrin's.

  • @highwaysanddrivewaysrc2002

    Nicely done as always sir. Cannot wait for the inevitable Arrma retaliation to this one. A kraton 8s update would be most likely but I'd like to see an 8s 1/5 talion if I'm being honest. Thoughts?

    Arrma XRT?!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Nice slip up in the beginning sir! Back in the day, Traxxas was an rc racing company and they had a big line of race trucks, RT. Towards the end of their run right before they started expanding their rc into other areas, those trucks lead to the Rustler and E-Revo. So yes, XRT stands for Extreme Race Truck. Nice review, it is a little pricey but still something I'm saving up for. Looking forward to the upgrades.

    Thunder RC does some really amazing stuff with this car.
    It amazes me how people’s opinions are so much different than I see it with Traxxas. Yes, it’s plastic. But anyone looking at it in person can see that this is a high quality car. And when you are jumping/bashing, you want plastic. You don’t want metal. Plastic can bend and contort, metal bends and stays warped.

    • @RazorRC
      @RazorRC  Před rokem +6

      I sometimes wonder if you even watch the videos. I gave it a 5-star rating in durability. Of course I know the plastic chassis is durable. I didn't say it needs a metal chassis or that metal is better, why would it NEED that? It already is the most durable 1/6 scale out there. I literally say it is.
      The only thing I point out is that plastic costs less to make than metal (it's probably 10x cheaper), yet they don't pass that savings onto the customer. They still charge you as much as other cars that cost way more to manufacture. That's just greed, and that's what the Value category represents. If the world's best mousetrap cost $1 to make and sold for $99, that's just greed. It doesn't mean it's a bad mousetrap or it needs to be made out of metal instead of wood -- it just means they should sell it for less.

    • @boduke9428
      @boduke9428 Před 2 měsíci

      Have you since learned how metal works since this comment? The strength of metal is it's ability to bend and not break. A Xmaxx handles like poo because it's practically rubber. There is nothing rigid for the suspension to act against. I have one, so I know.
      I used to be a Traxxas fan boy shouting about bending metal chassis and just like most of the others, I'd never owned one. I was just parroting what some CZcams channel said. Then I bought my first Arrma and felt pretty silly. It'll have to be a stupid crazy rig to make me ever buy another Traxxas. I sold all of mine except 2 and starting buying other brands. It's insane what all great rigs I missed out on.

      There’s plenty of RC cars that cost substantially more than traxxas. They know that if someone is an enthusiast, they will upgrade it all anyway, and the people that aren’t enthusiasts, won’t bash the crap out of them. This is an 8s super truck, of course it’s expensive. You can get lower end traxxas models for dirt cheap, the support and parts availability alone is worth the price.

    • @John-shreds
      @John-shreds Před rokem +1

      I have had a few cars, and I sold a lot of em but kept the XMAXX. The XMAXX is the easiest to work on by far, parts and upgrades are plentyfull, and is super durable. The biggest thing for me is when my RC breaks, I hate working on some cars, specifically the Arma Mojave (more later). The XMAXX is the easiest RC to work on.
      So I would say XRT for sure.
      However, I absolutely love driving my Mojave, definitely like driving it more than my XMAXX. I just had issues with Difs and drive caps, etc.
      If you get an XRT you need to have a budget for a max6 esc as well as a new servo. The electronics are trash, its true. My ESC died within 10 runs and same with my servo (XMAXX).
      Tires were an issue and you NEED to vent the rubber or tape the whole in the rim. But since you have the XRT wheels, that shouldnt be an issue from what I have seen.
      After the negatives of the XMAXX, I would for sure still get it again. Absolutely.
      XMAXX is worth it; so XRT is worth it. From my perspective of having 1 do it all car.

      I have a 12s Kraton exb and I’ve spent a good amount of money on it. (+-$1600)
      I also have the XRT and I have about the same amount into it and It is a far inferior vehicle. Durable yes, but inferior.
      If i had to do it over again, I’d choose the K8 EXB and 12s it for cheaper than the XRT and its mandatory upgrades.

    I gotta be honest with you, in my opinion, looking at the truck sitting on your bench. It does not look like a $1000 dollar vehicle. And, as you mention, those cheap electronics Traxxas loves to install on all their vehicles, it does not help in the selling the truck dept. Is the truck probably more durable than the stock Kraton 8S? yes. But, that is mainly due to it having a plastic chassis. And, if we are all going, to be honest, you will have to upgrade those cheap electronics and gears on the truck. So, when it is all set and done, you might be in the hole for at least $1300, or $1400 bucks? So, it all comes down to preference, I guess. Do you want to spend the money upfront, with another brand, or, do you want to spend it on Traxxas? As long as everyone is happy with their purchase, I suppose that is all that matters.

    To me, traxxas really come out with the wrong stuff for the past years.The sledge, so much aftermarket upgrades to make it tough. This xrt big and expensive, first who is going to racing a 1/6 or 1/5 scale truck (not a lot, is too big to be racing on a lot of area), for air rotation is the worse of its class. secondly, selling something so expensive in a economy downturn, did traxxas think before they do something. On the other hand arrma is doing it right, come out with new cheap 1/10 scale trucks.

    • @jaredchampagne2752

      If traxxas is doing it wrong and arrma is doing it right, why do they sell WAY more cars than them?

    • @yyckey5022
      @yyckey5022 Před rokem

      @Jared Champagne yep, I understand what you mean, but all I am saying is with a downturn, should companies come out with cheaper and affordable rc, like 1/10 scale to make money, or make they're 1/10 scale stronger and better, instead of of come out with something big and expensive, that's what I am try to say.
      In a downturn no one want to spend a lot of money in they're hobby, like the xrt is not cheap, also if need to replace parts at the future, is more expensive then a 1/10 scale, sometimes you broke more then one parts on a single bash too, that mean 💰.

      I agree. Get some new bodies for trx4m besides two completely undesirable ones. Release f150 and half ton Chevy as 1.9 trucks. Lower price of hoss 4tec 4x4 rustler sledge and xmaxx. make new cheap 4x2s. High Trails are great after you spend 1000 plus.
      my favorite Traxxas in recent memory is the hot rod, as it was 150 if you bought two. Hard pass on the XRT to me.
      for the price of this vehicle I could get a felony 6s a vendetta and a Losi drag car, in fact I just did. all three of those are more appealing to me than this. Traxxas understands that their audience is eternally faithful and older, and will spend the money. I know I've been a fan of trx since the beginning but I am beginning to move away from that. other brands offer a lot more value these days, a lot more.
      this is obviously just my opinion people should buy what they want.

      they don't sell nearly what they used to, horizon is killing it. axial owns crawlers and arrma owns bashers. Trx owns old guys and their kids. the problem is RC is not nearly as popular with kids as it is with adults anymore. Young adults ie people with disposable income don't want a land rover or a new bronco! look at the line of trx4 1/10. Lol all old guy whips I should know I am one
      I was curious and looked it up Traxxas made 33 million last year.
      horizon made 335 million.

    Thats the thing with traxxas, it is pricy. But you can send them and really Enjoy it with no fear of making you broke from constant expansive repairs. In the end traxxas is cheaper and you are not afraid of actually bashing with your car

    I have an XRT & I will give my own personal, non-bias opinion if anyone cares, continue to read:
    - Durability is fantastic, just like the X-Maxx. The servo is average at best, especially at this price point. The ESC is fine, but it suffers from Traxxas typical electronic issues.
    The servo is an extremely easy swap out, even to someone with little experience with working on RC cars. The radio is garbage.
    It should be about $800-$850, but you're paying for Traxxas warranty & customer service, imo.
    The clip less body design is also a game changer imo.

    Traxxas is like apple. Pretty in the eyes of children amd rookies to the hobby but waaaaaay over priced for what you get and doesn't play nice with others. I'd spend a grand on a 8th scale associated tekno or tlr truggy before I ever spend a grand on this entry level piece of shit lol the only thing that is appealing is its size amd that's all it and the xmaxx has going for it
