I really like this video, every time I see him my cousin tries to get me to drink or do whatever else despite the fact that I’m not only keeping in good shape for my own desires but also for my job. It’s gotten to the point where we haven’t spoken in probably close to a year. All in all it’s fine though, I won’t compromise my goals for anyone.
Scooby the counsellor. LOL. Thanks I already knew what my toxic friends were thinking. This reinforces that. I like how you kept it respectful throughout.
Keep in mind they may not really be trying to put you down. They may just not understand a different life style from what they’re used to. And may become big supporters if you explain or if they see the results.
Very very VERY rare theyd become big supporters or supporters at all if that person's default mindset is that negative. At best they'd be accepting lol
Good advice. That's what good person would do. I'm a jerk and it's much easier for me to just cut off all ties with toxic people or simply ignore them. If they don't shut up about your lifestyle and love for fitness, you shouldn't waste time on them. However, some of us are in a really bad life situation. I remember reading a blog post about one guy who tried to become fit (he's a teenager and lives with parents). His parents and siblings are obese and actively sabotaging all his attempts to become fit. (English is not my native language, i'm sorry if I made mistakes).
I used to be an alcoholic and ate junk food 24 hrs a day I was really obese and then I quit drinking ate better and lost weight and gained muscle. People were quick to mentioned how I gained wieght when I was fat. I thought people would be happy for my change. But no one ever gave it a mention. But instead a lot of people who I thought were my friends started toput me down and bring up the past and trying to make me feel like they are better than me
I was drinking a protein drink made from blueberries beet juice Greek yogurt and whey protein. A coworker said that sounds awful. I said I don't drink it for the taste I drink it to stay healthy. Beer tastes like crap too but people swill that stuff like it's going out of style and it's bad for you!
I will say, most of the time when I don't eat healthy, it's to fit in with what friends/family are craving rather than what I actually want. I'm happy with rice, chicken, and veggies for every meal. But I value my relationships as much as my health, so if it gives them a huge amount of happiness to go to shake shack once every few weeks, I'm willing to take a one meal hit every now and then to give them that happiness.
I used to get this with family, friends and co-workers when it came to finances. I was always accused of being cheap and got that "c'mon, enjoy life" and "live a little" bullshit. I think I'm frugal, not cheap, by the way. I'm always looking for the best value, not the cheapest thing. You can still have fun without spending money. Paid off my house at 31 and now no one can talk shit. Now people ask me how I did it 🤦
Scooby I love your work. You are timeless. Your words are infinite. I've newly-discovered you.. I'm trying to share your wisdom amongst my fellow athletes. I think they need it. LOL
True, it's really hard, I had to move back with my parents because of the pandemic and has been horrible honestly, like I give money to buy food and then when it's time to lunch there's a plate filled with rice, potatoes, pasta, etc. I have a pretty slow metabolism and I have gained over 10kg this year, I'm currently trying to figure things out.

Despite how hard it is to be a parent, they do need to have a sense of respect for their grown children and the choices they make. When I started lifting and changing my diet, it was always "you were more fun before" or "you look awful now" or even "you're SO strict with your diet, your life must be miserable." I don't like responding to them why I do it anymore, because nothing seems to change their minds no matter how kindly or serious I put it. My only guess is that they're looking for any sense of self superiority over their kids in the remaining time of their life. That might sound a bit morbid but it's the only conclusion I can come to anymore. Easily the most stubborn people I've ever had to deal with, unfortunately.
Also learn that some people are just toxic and only lift themselves up by pushing down on others, not just because your success makes them realize their failures but because that’s the way they are. Sadly the only solution is to kick these people out of your life as soon as possible. I had this problem inside my own family which is worst and wasted decades trying to fix it. You can’t fix stupid, specially when it’s stupid and evil.
Cholesterol is not associated let alone causal in heart disease... The problem is eating a diet rich in both fat and carbohydrates to the point where they are even in caloric density and grams.
