    Now I'm reaching 20000 kms on my Classic 350 and I think my Royal Enfield mechanic has neved adjusted the valves clearances. I will be buying some tools to do it myself, because I notice some noise coming from the top of the engine
    Thanks for your video, really amazing

    I had a noise comming from the head of the engine. I asked the dealer mecanics what it could be. He went on a test drive by himself after I insisted he had a look. No noise according to him. I then made some research on YT and the valve clearance seems to be the issue. I had a look at the first service the dealer did and I can see he did not bother to check the clearance. I will do it myself thanks to your great video. As other comments states, better to service by yourself. Not even a professional can be trusted by these days... Anyways, thanks for you tutorial, very helpful!

      Yep I was shocked to find the spark was far too tight, that’s not good your bike not having the valve clearances checked and then on top of that they being dismissive of anything being not right!, yep DIY maintenance is easy enough on these bikes 👍😁

    Good stuff, always best to do your own servicing for peace of mind. Not easy to find a mechanic you can trust in these modern times, most are no more than fitters sadly.

    Nice one Bruce. I was interested to see how your valve clearances were fairing up after nearly 6000 miles, pretty good it seams. I've only done just over 2000 miles on my Hntr but when I did the 300 mile service, the inlet valve clearance was a tad large and the exhaust a tad tight but, as you say, it's not rocket science to adjust them. I had plenty of practice with locknut and screw adjusters on my first cars back in the 70s 😊 All the best, Phil

    Good instructional video thank you, but at 7,30 your caption suggests that the exhaust clearance should be 0.08mm which isn’t quite correct. Although it does appear you are working on the inlet. A small point but if people are attempting this work and freezing the video on the captions then it’s misleading. Great clear instructions though❤

    Excellent video of a brilliant bike 👍
    Now if RE would make just the frame 6'' longer and 4'' higher the job could be done without having to remove the tank.
    The fact that my (34'' inseam) legs would look less ridiculous when riding is purely coincidental 🤔
    Look forward to the oil change. At least, unlike my Bullet 500, there will be no weird mixing of oil and grease to obtain the correct viscosity of "gloop" for the gearbox 😯

    Just spent the weekend on the tappet adjustment, after watching this great video. I'm a total novice. It's a bit tricker than I imagined. Lots of challenges with the tight fitting fuel line and fuel pump connectors etc. But all that was anticipated, thanks to the instructions. The ONE part that really got me: getting the gasket to sit true & square. First time, huge fail. Oil squirting everywhere. Second time, I think I nailed it. But not so easy to know! One question:. what tool did you use to cut away the seat bracket for easier fitting? I tried a Dremel with rotary cutting tool, but that barely made an impression.

    • @Coastriderscotland
      @Coastriderscotland  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Glad my film helped you out James 👍 Well done on doing the most tricky job I have come across so far on the Enfield 350!, I too found it tricky as many do with things like that fuel clip getting squeezed to disconnect and seating the gasket properly, on my seat I used an angle grinder with cutting disc, if you don’t have a grinder a hack saw and the time/patience should do it 😁👍

    Love this bike a lot. But has a very important drawback: the tappet adjustment. In the XXI century we can not accept this maintenance burden. Or you have a place, tools, knowledge and time to do it by yourself or you find a competent professional... who is going to charge 200/300€ for this task. Ridiculous!!!
