MOOER Preamp Live.
Featuring dozens of models from their Micro Preamp Series plus Bluetooth App, Desktop App, MIDI, IR import capability and Tone Capture (make your own!), this pedal is very much a what-a-guy. The sounds are great, the interface is easy and its feature set is huge. Last time I looked it was carrying a friendly price tag too. Decent modelling to go.
Various important features such as IR import and Tone Capture were not shown in this video. Rather, I have tried to concentrate on the Preamp Live's native qualities. Ola and others have demonstrated the extra features, please should check out their channels.

This is the only non metal demo channel I’ll watch cos the playing is always boss.

These have been blowing my mind since they came out. Mos def want to get one. Seems like a no brainer really Shoot. I good powered cab, wedge, and/or in-ears, and your gravy. Awesome demo as always Burgs. You've always set the CZcams bar high, and as trustworthy as they come.

The preamp live sounds really good within IR's. It's a shame not having built-in modulations
any IR recommendation? Are those free?
You can change the boost to pre/post without the gui. The control knob is a push switch. It toggles between pre/post.

Very nice video. I'm wondering if I can use my small analogue pedals in front of the Mooer Preamp Live in live situations, or is it a completely silly idea? I'm looking for possibilities for non-amp rig but using my usual pedal board at the same time.
This is a really great AND super affordable pedal. DI...IRs...Effects Loop...I've been using this for a couple of months now when I'm playing direct in and running in ear monitors - works great with my regular pedal board and this thing is a killer back up to have with you. Great video as usual Brett! Love your take on gear reviews and your playing.
So where do you position it, like amp and you add send/ return extra effects? I already own Zoom G3 and thinking if this guy’s functions will overlap with my existing.

I have a question about power supply (Power requirements: 9V-12V DC 1A)
Is the Power Supply(Strymon Zuma with 9v 500mA ) you used enough?
What's it like when recording into an interface DAW any distortion, are the pre-amp sounds still as good? or do they loose the tone and have to be fully adjusted?

Can I use the USB-out to directly record my guitar on PC? I mean, working as an audio-interface. Or the USB works exclusively for controling the pedal on PC? Thanks
2:12 when the level of the reverb goes up, you now also raise the volume of the dry signal, something you don't want when it's in the loop. a 100% wet mix is neccesary...

Hello !!! I would like to ask you if the sound of the preamps in Mooer Pre Amp Live product, is of the same quality as the individual Mooer micro pedals.
Let's say the MOOER 008 Micro Preamp Cali MK3 sounds the same in Preamp Live ?

Clicking the factory reset button in the software, it says it will reset all factory defaults. My question is, will this only apply to the Live stompboxes or include even the defaults inside the software? I want to keep the 12 preamp channels in the software, the reason I bought this used stompbox.
Is it possible connect mooer to a pc or mac and use it as a audio interface?
But did you ever play with the Tone Capture??? I don't see a vid for it on your channel. I just bought one of these for myself, and am excited to load the sound of my Peavey VTM into it for use at human volumes.

HELP! the efx loop is mono. The loop precedes the cab-sim in the manuals schematic, just before the main out. So, to use this in stereo would you have to treat it like a simple pedal and put a stereo effect after the main output, and then to your interface, etc?

Every demo I’ve heard of this little box has sounded really good. The boosted Two Rock tone is especially nice. Excellent playing as always Mr. Kingman. Any chance we could hear this through an amp? I’d be interested in hearing it going in the front & into the effects return.

This product seems like it's gunning for the Atomic Amplifire 6 given the price point and feature set. I think what sets the AA6 apart from this product is that it does have some expression pedal functionality as well as a few on-board effects (such as reverb).
Gordon Tubbs I sold my amplifire box in favour of the mooer. I loved the amplifire but it was just far too fiddly. Incorporating it into a pedalboard was also tricky.

@@gordontubbs I'm using it for live gigs where I'm not allowed an amp on stage ( there's an orchestra ). I'd probably say the Amplifire tones are perhaps a little better, maybe just different. But the 4 channels, boost, FX loop and MIDI make life so much easier. I like the fact that the mooer is only a pre-amp.
Hey man, amazing vid. I have a very specific question. I hope you can help me out. Cant seem to find that answer anywhere.
I am trying to set up a pedal board with Line6 HX Effects (for all pedals) and the Mooer preamp live (for amp and cab sims) along with a couple of expression pedals hooked up to the Line6 HX Effects.
My question is, in a live setting would I need to add a portable power amp to the signal chain? (Something like a Mooer baby bomb or Harley Benton GPA-100 or the Seymour Duncan power amp series)
Is it necessary? And if it is, where should it be in the signal chain in context to what I wrote above? I’m unable to find this information. I want the Mooer preamp live to be at the end of my signal chain so I’m able to send the XLR out to front of house.
Will the “boost” or the power amp simulation mode of the Mooer preamp live suffice for a powerful live sound? Please advice! Thanks once again and great video I subscribed.
All you need is a powered monitor of some sort. RCF, Headrush, CLR... there are a zillion to choose from. Just depends on how much you want to spend. You could use a power amp and speaker cab too, if you choose. 'Powerful' live is relative - to the sounds you've dialled up, playing style and your chosen amplification. So many variables. Read up the manuals and take a few punts. You'll get there.
@@BrettKingman the idea is to have a “as portable rig as possible” that’s why i never suggested the idea of powered monitors, amps or even cabs. They’re expensive, need some vehicle to transport them and i can’t do it. Anyway thanks for the suggestion

I noticed you left the power amp simulation off. I've been given the impression from the demos I've seen that the power amp simulation isn't one of this device's strong points.
I'm generally interested in different approaches when it comes to the signal chain (preamp, power amp, cab and speaker, mics, real vs simulated, analogue vs digital, valve vs solid state) and different combinations of them (popular examples being a valve preamp into a digital power amp and cab IR or a digital preamp into the effects return of a real valve amp). Power amp simulation seems to be given relatively little attention, but with certain amps (especially vintage designs) they are an important part of the sound and feel.
I'd quite like to see either an analogue or valve based device that simulates different power amp designs (I worded that carefully because there is a misconception that the valves used define the sound of a power amp) that is intended for direct recording/to mixer applications in combination with a cab sim/IR. It would be an interesting addition to the possible combinations of different technology types.
They describe the Power Amp modelling as 'additional' modelling. In my case, I didn't feel I needed it so left it off. It works fine, though.
@@BrettKingman Part of the reason I thought that was because they left it off most of the time in their own demo. Other people have said they prefer the sound without the power amp modelling. Then I kind of went off on a tangent, but that's not unusual :)

So the typical question. How a model in the mooer compares to the same model from an Axe-fx?
And the typical answer: You get what you pay for. If you want the best, there is only one choice, in my opinion. However, not everyone needs a Fractal rig and the MOOER will serve well people who simply want a selection of very useable preamps for live or studio use.
@@BrettKingmanGAS hitting hard but modelers are improving dramatically on the vst realm at a lower introductory cost to justify a hardware unit, unless it provides top tier performance. Will keep my hard earned cash for future need. Thanks for the honest answer!. A comparison video would be informative on the potential sound quality differences between different units. Get what you for? Not necessarily. Some of them are overpricing. Some are cheap but you get more then what you pay for like the Pre Amp Live...
@@BrettKingman True, but there's a curve. We gotta ask "for 1/10 the cost, is it only 1/10 as good?".... I'd say it's more like 80% of a Kemper for 10% the cost. Good enough for me.
The rumour is Mooer used a Kemper to profile the sounds and these devices are just profile players

you actually don't need a cab. You can safely just go XLR right into the mix.

The Mooer videos all sound very cool, but I have bought two of their preamps and have been less than impressed. Tell me what I am doing wrong?
I might be wrong, but i think this unit has higher quality processing than the micro preamps
Where are u running them? If you are running with the stock cab sim THEY ARE TRASH but if you are recording through an interface or have an IR loader just take a good IR and they are awesome
Yep, I run a mini pedal (006 - the fender style one) into a seperate IR loader, I use a Bluguitar Blubox cause it's simple and sounds great, but there's loads out there including Mooer's own. The built in cab sim is a bit characterless.

Couple of unrelated questions too... 1) Where's Sadie? Probably just wasn't paying attention but haven't seen your lovely daughter make an appearance in a while? 2) Did you ever hear from Erich/Dice Works again? That dude fell off the planet from what I can tell. His pedals were awesome, especially the meticulous soldering work inside the pedals with the point-to-point "flying" components. Rad.
Straight to the board - Presonus Quantum to Logic Pro X. Sadie is 17 and concentrating on her academics. She's doing very well, thanks for asking. Dice Works disappeared nearly 10 years ago, never to be heard of again, at least in these parts. I really liked his stuff and bought and sold a lot of it.

@@MrBossei I'd agree on the part about hype, but don't take my words harshly, there are really some impressive products. I'd vow for this one but check out blu amp1 by thomas blug, then kemper. but kemper is too high for price but blu amp1is what i love so much!

Awful clean sound.
A terrible product. It does sound good, but it is absolutely unreliable. After a week of buying it, it stopped working, luckily under warranty so I got it replaced. The new unit, after a year stopped working again. Unfortunately not under warranty anymore. I lost my money. I was able to record a couple of demos with it and that's all. Also, they stop developing the software. Don't buy it!
