- In this video I will take you along for a week in my life as an Orthodox Jew. In this week in the life (WITL), I will take you along as I clean those, homeschool the kids, and deal with the ups and downs and surprises and curveballs of my week as we gear up for Shabbat.
Hello and welcome! My name is Chana, I’m married to my best friend, and we have three wonderful children together. We also happen to be Orthodox Jews and we homeschool our kids. This video is a sneak peek into our daily lives :) You can see how this particular Jewish homeschool mom sets up her days, rolls with the punches, and gets it all done. Thanks for watching!

Just to update y'all, my daughter is all better! Just a pesky virus that really had her tired fever etc for a few days :) I am so happy to have my sweet girl back to her normal self :)

I love dehydrating foods! When canning tomatoes, I use the skin and left over pulp to make tomato powder. I also have dehydrated mushrooms and mushroom powder, celery powder, potatoes, and lots of other goodies!
Oh I never thought of that with the skins! I’ll try that! What do you use the tomato powder for?
@@jaroffireflies I make tomato paste, put it in soups and stews for flavor and as a thickener, and you can make instant tomato soup with hot water and spices!

Homeschooling works for your family and that is good..but the same things you do at home I also do with my son and he is in public school…so all the nature the poetry is also done on a daily basis….I also believe in bedtimes because i believe proper rest is important for learning and almost everything because I can’t function tired..your videos are very informative to watch it shows a different perspective😊😊😊😊
I would love you see more about the dehydrator meals! My parents have done some dehydrating, but never with the idea of making it a meal later.
You'll see an update after our backpacking trip! I will be rehydrating the meals on the trip and I'll show at least some on a video update :)

I need to know what you were doing with the cookie cutter! Is this some kind of life hack I need when I'm baking? I love that you found a gluten-free, dairy-free cookie recipe! I'm sure it feels good to bake things that taste good and feel good for your whole family!
I saw it on another you tubers video, right after the cookie comes out, you swoosh the cookie cutter around the cookie while it’s still super soft and it makes them all nice and round without lumpy uneven sides. It’s my new favorite cookie hack!
I have the same dehydrator and love it for veggies and fruit. Never tried meat,have to do that. Have a lovely week.

I had to go for a procedure today at the hospital. It got me thinking ..as an Orthodox Jew, can you go to any hospital and have Any procedure done by any Dr? If you had to stay in the hospital, would you just order a Kosher meal?
Yes I can have any procedure done that I need by any dr that I choose. Not all hospitals offer kosher meals, but I would still be able to eat.
I have a sick/disabled child who occasionally has issue with blood sugar because of her TPN administration. So I watched your video on managing your son’s type 1. I was curious to know if anything has changed for him or you since you recorded that video. 💜
We are still managing him the with the same medications and equipment. Thankfully he is very healthy and his diabetes is well managed :) So no major changes. We do tweak dosage all the time of course as he grows.
I'm 27 and a PhD student, but I don't suppose you'd want to adopt this coeliac Jew too? You seem such a lovely mother ^_^

Yes, my boys wear them all the time except when they are sleeping (though my toddler likes to sleep with his) 😊 sometimes they forget but they put it back on after a reminder. It’s just a round cookie cutter! I saw it in another video and it’s my favorite cookie hack now :)

I buy head coverings at a lot of different places, but the snoods mostly come from Uptown Girl Headwear. Love her stuff! She's on Etsy and she has her own website.
Hi Chana, hope you and your family doing well. Just a question. In some of your videos I saw you doing Netilat yadayim, but I guess you were reciting something else than Modeh ani, I know it's such a random question but If it's OK I want to ask what you were reciting.

Sure! When I wash hands in the morning I recite the hand washing blessing. Modeh ani is said as soon as I wake up, so I never film that :)

Also how do you reheat food on Shabbat?
We use a crock pot or a hot plate :) The recipes we make for Shabbat are all ones that reheat easily and well.

it sucks when your kid is sick. you wanna do everything to make them feel better.
So true! She was such a trooper though :) She slept a LOT, so she really didn't need much. I am so glad she is all back to her normal self now!
