Hello and welcome! My name is Chana, I’m married to my best friend, and we have three wonderful children together. We also happen to be Orthodox Jews and we homeschool our kids. Hello friends! Hope you are having a most excellent week! Ever since I started reading aloud to my kids through our homeschooling, I have thought it would be the neatest job to be able to read books for audio books. Clearly I like to talk LOL Whats a cool random job you have considered?
I've always wanted to be the person who names the paint colors! When I was little, I would collect the paint chips from Lowe's just to read the names. 😊

Oh i think i am Genius on thinking what "jobs" i could do.
My belovetest idea is:
I really, really love very old furniture about hundert years old.
But not those expensive antiques are those I love- I love those from "normal" people.
Kitchen cupboards,table, chairs..stuff like this
I belive, i could feel on a old table all the love the mum put food on it, all those readings beeing done there. .
And this kind of old furniture is often thrown on the streets .
I would like to have a very big Truck, to save them,bring them home, repaire and paint and find A nice loving home for the oldies again.
I grew up in an area without much exposure to Judaism and moved, as an adult, into an area with much larger orthodox communities and have really enjoyed learning about the culture. I'm so glad to have found your channel. I plan to homeschool my little ones and love seeing how other mom's do it. I find it very encouraging. I love that CZcams can help us learn about each other in ways that are not always available to us in every day life. Thanks for sharing!

After cutting onions, Try rinsing your hands and eye lids using a stainless steel spoon as you would a soap bar. I know it sounds crazy, and I don’t know the science, but it works! The oils from the onions must react with the metal. It takes away the sting and any smell!

Hi just watching your old videos. Beautiful creek, what a nice day you had. Here is a tip, when I cut onions I use sunglasses you can also use goggles then my eyes won't hurt so much. Take care🌻

Hi Chana: I recently discovered your channel and have been binge watching ever since. Like you, I was raised Catholic all the way; I still practice my faith. In a similar way to you, I've felt a strong pull towards Judaism since having Jewish friends in public high school many moons ago. Even now, during Passover, I long to attend a Seder. On Friday evenings, I wish I was preparing a Shabbat meal. want to wear a Star of David (with a cross in it), but, I don't dare because my adult children would probably think I'd lost my mind. I have some level of guilt about my feelings in this area, as if I'm betraying the Lord and my religion in some way. Yet, I believe that serving G-d is serving Him, is it not? I love your lifestyle, and I applaud your courage for making your decision. I'm sure it was difficult for your family to accept. Thank you for sharing your life with us. Rosemarie 💗

I might have to steal the sushi timbale idea. That looked so fancy! Tip for the onions, set in a bowl of ice water or the freezer for 10 minutes first. It reduces the acid spray when you cut or grate.
The sushi was delicious and the kids loved the runway it was served :) Thank you for the tip about the onions! I will need to try that one :)

If you run the tap water while slicing onions it's supposed to help with that! I love the spaghetti, the sushi looks amazing and everything else. A very happy birthday to your precious son! His birthday cake looks spectacular and I'm sure it was delicious!

My Italian grandmother taught me that! Gently run the water and lightly wet the onion as well. It removes the gases. It should definitely help you.

You are really really hard-working. I can tell that you get tired. I really feel for you because, it’s very important to be well rested and energized for your husband. This way, if you are able to take a nap if necessary, then shower, do your hair, make up/perfume, whatever you enjoy and be able to be really refreshed and energetic for your husband. Plus, in my experience, in order to really be able to pay proper attention to someone you have to be relaxed with energy, otherwise you will not be able to give the very best attention to your husband

There are videos on how to cut onions without the tears. It's all about not cutting the root during the process.

Super creative the way you did the sushi. Sushi’s also pretty popular in our house, but I’m usually pretty tired before I’m done making 7-9 rolls the traditional way. I might have to give that container trick a try. I never thought of making eel sauce before. We always buy it. Would love to know what recipe you use:) thanks for sharing! Just caught on to your videos recently, and as another out-of-the box modern orthodox married Sephardi momma, really enjoy watching:)
Hello and thank you for the introduction! I am so happy that you are here! I am so sorry but I don't have a recipe for the eel sauce, I just google it when I need to make it. Its super simple though just soy sauce, mirin, and sugar! And ya, its much simpler to make these sushi towers than the rolls (for me! lol), especially when half my kids don't want the seaweed lol
@@jaroffireflies awesome, thanks! Just looked it up on Amazon-didn’t realize it would be so easy to fine kosher mirin:) have you ever tried any alternatives for the sugar for the eel sauce? If so, have any turned out good?
@@srgoldbe so glad it was easy to find! We find it at our local grocer in the regular Asian food section. I haven’t tried to replace the sugar so I have no tips for you there, but please let me know if you find something that works!

Thank you so much! He loved it! I will be calling how I got the name jar of fireflies in my next video so stay tuned for Thursday! I do teach my kids how to read and write in Hebrew :) We have some great books that help to teach them plus my husband is fluent in Hebrew.
Wow your kids are reading up on history etc at a young age. That’s good!! What do you do if you don’t get a mathematical concept? I mean at this age it’s doable but high school academic math or science etc can be tricky. Anyways I’m overall impressed! Enjoy this time with them. They grow up fast!!
Kids always amaze me at how much they can learn! If I don’t understand a math concept I would spend time learning it before trying to teach it, or I would outsource it to a friend or tutor who knows the subject :)

I’m sorry I don’t really have a recipe! My husband made the (cake) crab salad and I just added things in layers. The sauce was eel sauce that I just found a recipe for inkjet e and didn’t save. Sorry I can’t be more helpful!
Helpful hint:make a cloth wet and sit it next to you while you're peeling or grating onions. I put the wet cloth on a dish. It really helps! I just found your channel one week ago and love it. I enjoy learning about the Jewish culture, etc. I've always wanted to study Judaism, but ill wait til I retire! 3 more years!

We haven’t trained Bella to alert us to blood sugars yet, we have been working on general training, she came to us with very bad habits we needed to work on first. She’s calmed down a lot and I hope to start soon! I don’t share my kids names, but their names are their Hebrew names :)

My husband made the crab salad, and the sauce I just googled for eel sauce recipe. Other than that I just stack the ingredients!

There’s not really a recipe, I just sort of threw it together 🤷🏼♀️ I did use Alton Brown’s sushi rice recipe :)

Does your daughter wear skirts full time/what age does they start?
I sketched it out in pencil first then erased it so the lines were super faint. Then I painted :) There is no set age for girls to wear skirts all the time.

I live in Texas :) Creeks are great fun and I’m sure you can find some in your area! Any park with a creek, just look for a good access point. We hunted a few of these down :)

Lovely video. Reading through the comments, I think that it is important to note that the Jewish religion does not actively go about trying to convert people. There are no missionaries. The decision to convert comes from the individual.

Hello! I have two questions for you. If you have already addressed them I am sorry. I am getting caught up on your videos as I just discovered your channel yesterday. The first question is do you always eat fish for Shabbat meal? I am an Irish Catholic who is fairly old school and also only eat fish on Fridays. So, I am wondering if there is a connection here? Secondly, I also have celiac disease and once diagnosed I immediately discovered the joys of Kosher foods. Especially at Passover, it seems like there are wonderful kosher and gluten free pastries to be purchased at our locals stores. But, I have no idea why Passover is a gluten free holiday. Could you help me to understand? Thank you so much! I am absolutely loving your channel!

Hi Chana... Just curious... Is it required that you wear a head cover at home with just your family present or is it on because you are making the video?
I cover my hair all the time. I'm obligated to cover my hair when men who are not my husband is around, but culturally we cover our hair all the time.

Nope! Too busy sometimes, but never too tired!
How do you make your tacos in order to stay kosher?
I like mine with beef or chicken, salsa, cilantro, guacamole, and vegan sour cream :)
How do you manage Cub Scouts with Shabbat? I’ve found most of the events in our area are on Shabbat.
Great question! I started my own Cub Scout pack so I set the calendar :)
