It comes as Rishi Sunak invited China to the AI summit in the UK next week after former Prime Minister Liz Truss urged her successor to "reconsider".

The biggest single threat to us all is our own political class - and yes the last three years has shown there is no difference whatsoever between the 3 main 'parties'.

As a citizen of UK, I don't see China as any threat to me - they have never invaded another country in war, in the way that others do. If they are so good at technologies, why don't we set ourselves to improve our own situations, instead of constantly trying to belittle them. Our politicians could try being proud of our own sucesses, or maybe we just don't have any....

I believe it's the latter, because china is very Bullish. For example, they've openly declared the USA to be their enemy, they constantly threaten to invade Taiwan and even go so far as to invade their airspace, they've enslaved Uyghurs, there's no free speech and they treat their own citizens as disposable, corruption is rife within every level of the CCP, and the list goes on.

His stance over China is boisterous disagreement in confidence of democracy, of course. However, most people or politicians are not aware of Chinas flexibility attraction to democratic coexistence, as proven in individual collectiveness to be the best of the capable persons, rather than forced regime over will power. Humans are complex being, but individual strive on unquenchable thirst in faith to achieve success in life, by hard work and human endeavour. For instance, Saudi Arabia practices communism in punitive punishment levied against offenders in public executions, which doesn't justify accountability of punitive measure, against the crimes committed when they could be subject to rehabilitation in drug cases. The boundaries of legitimate reasons have been constitutionally abused by the protector of the land. Shading blood by extra judicial killing is abusing and defiling the constitution by murderous acts.

U$A to EU : We should not invest in China, the system is bad and needs to be punished.
    EU : OK , agree
But after that, it was U$A companies that flooded into China to make huge profits, the EU so dxmb.🤣

The major disparity between UK and China is the HongKong fight for democratic rule after the treaty of Rome to rule HongKong for hundred years, and change over back to China. Emphatically, without doubt this should cause any intolerance, inconvenience, disagreement, double standard, division in diplomatic relations between China and the UK. Those involved in the complacency of opting out against China are doing it for personal and political interests, having tasted democratic freedom for so long. It has created a vacuum of generation, of students opposing the reinstatement of China rule by parliamentary decree over its imperial colony which is the reality of constitutional monarch world wide. HongKong autonomy is not going to diverge into a national civil catastrophe.

Charles, thanks for sharing the very insightful view from the UK perspective. However, in my opinion, it is just part of the factor and the factor that is based on a false assumption that most Brits made themselves believe that they and their political establishment care about the people in Hong Kong and that the British core interests is aligned with it too. But I am afraid that in essence, it is such a well-disguised fallacy.
The fundamental truth is how UK see and position her national interest. Understandably and absolutely normal that the British political ruling class wants to maximise and extend British national interest independently and globally. EU became the pain in the backside for this global aspiration, therefore we saw Brexit. However, UK alone cannot achieve the goal and she must be allied with and be a chief cheerleader for a big power to play the unique role, therefore, maximising UK’s interest globally, political, economical and cultural. Uncle Sam is the natural choice for this purpose.
What is unexpected for is that Uncle Sam is having its post midlife crisis and tantrum with China. Hong Kong issue then becomes handy ammunition to support the big boss’ cause. 😉

A look at China's map surrounded by US's warships goes some way to explain Chinese role in the world. It 's veto power at the UN carries quite a lot of weight always supporting Russia is critical in understanding Chinese position. Which contests directly US's global leadership, known for it's knock off brands in consumer markets, state subsidies to domestic firms and exchange rate manipulations. Also China holding large USA's debt that makes the former well poised to break WTO rules devoid of any consequence. It's advances in technology disseminated across the globe and other similar initiatives are negligible compared to it's defense systems and strategic goals. With UK playing a meager role and it's limited ability to exert any influence over Sino agenda.
