I just came across this episode and it was such a fun and relatable episode. Your uncle/cousin Lama had some great insights and lessons that I can definitely relate to growing up. It made me miss Samoa so bad. Hopefully Covid subside soon so we can enjoy it how we used to or when I get to visit home again. Thank you for doing this!

I grew up in Oxnard, California. The Samoans there are very respectful and very giving. One thing I learn from a elder Samoan was to always learn your culture and language. Much love to your peeps. God blessed.

Omg so true about the neighbours sharing food. Love that about our people!! When I stayed in Samoa for 6months in 2012, our neighbours always sent a child over to see if we had rice(knowing how sometimes fussy us NZ/Aus born Samoans are with what foods we prefer to have with rice lol), & if we didn’t, they would always bring a bowl of rice over just for me 🥺 I mean I never not ate because there wasn’t any rice, but that gesture just shows how much love our people have for their neighbours, or anyone for that matter. These days though, it’s kalo over anything!!! Lol
