    I lived in Massachusetts the younger part of my life and I worked in a couple of cemeteries up there and I always thought. What's gonna happen to all these people? Down the road with all these lots that are people. From the 19 hundred, you can't even find Anymore. Relatives friends family, what happens ? the condition of some of the cemeteries out of the state of Massachusetts down here in the South. In the Midwest all over the place, they're not very well kept. Even though they're old in Massachusetts, they keep most of the cemeteries absolutely beautiful even the very old ones like oaklawn cemetery where i used to work. Stones from the 1800s of were kept in immaculate condition cleaned all the stones required.

    You should check out Myrtle Hill cemetery in Rome Georgia it's a big hill with very very old graves that date back to its founding days almost. It sits on one of the 7 hills which is why Rome was named that fpr it's 7 hills and 3 rivers like Rome Italy. The mausoleums are amazing to look at as well. There's a history during the civil war as well when Sherman marched in Rome he was going to burn it down but confederate soldiers marched all around the hill making them look like they out numbered Sherman's troops when I'm fact it was just an illusion, that and of course had the upper land so to speak which we all know it's best to have the upper land when doing battle almost all win. So Sherman retreated and eventually made his way down to Atlanta and then burned it. This story is what we learned in middle school and it's quite a history story. Also Woodrow Wilson's 1st wife is buried there as well. He used to be USA president. So if you haven't been there plz go check it out you won't be disappointed. Also try to go to Barnsley Gardens in Kingston Georgia. Hope you have a wonderful and blessed day and stay safe out there!!!!

    The mausoleum with the unmarked slab in the middle work the same as I described below. When it came time for someone to occupy a space the coffin would come out, get busted up the remains would go into a bag or box and go down under the slab into the ossuary. They would not carve the marble covers as the occupants might only be in there for a few years. Often, especially with the Italians th mausoleum would be owned by a burial society.

      Thanks for verifying that because a lot of the people called BS on me and say that’s not possible for the stuff to be reused blah blah blah.

    Then what do they do with the casket because in the moseleum the put the casket that they had their wake and funeral in we would slide the new casket into the maseluam beside or on top or under the original one Unless its like a wall with individual crypts

    • @CryptDoor
      @CryptDoor  Před 9 měsíci

      From what I was told when they start moving, remains around, the casket is discarded.

    Awesome walking tour, thank you very much Tony 🎃
    Beautiful monuments. I wonder 🤔 when the bones are placed in the bag like you described, are the bags tagged with the name of the deceased? Also the dates of birth and death? Just curious 🤔
    Thank you again Tony, happy Halloween 🎃

    So if the bones are put in a burlap sack, and the next family member is interred , are all the bags in the crypt with the new coffin, and what happens to the coffin each time?Just curious.

    I can't imagine1 year would have the bodies down to bones. They must not embalm the bodies. 💖

    • @CryptDoor
      @CryptDoor  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Probably not, but they said the temperatures can reach inside the tombs 300 to 400° like a pizza oven so it sounds like it cooks you down to nothing in a year.

    Can you clarify what that guy was explaining regarding those places they put broken shells to blend in with bone bits. Did I hear that correctly?

    • @CryptDoor
      @CryptDoor  Před 10 měsíci +2

      The audio might’ve been kind of bad at the time, but they basically after hurricane Katrina flooding when the water subsided there was a bunch of shells that washed in and they left them there on the ground.

    What would the yearly cost be to provide perpetual care?

    • @CryptDoor
      @CryptDoor  Před 10 měsíci

      A lot of times when you buy a private mausoleum or tomb, from what I understand it’s a percentage of the price you pay that goes into an account.
