Regardless of actually being there or not, it takes a certain pos as an individual to “stand by” and let that all happen to children. Those officers on scene need to loose their badges and prepare for a civil lawsuit. They were cowards. Parents wanted to react more than law enforcement did. This is a black eye for the thin blue line.

One officer stated “ if my child was in there I wouldn’t be standing in this parking lot !! “ that’s very telling and disgusting . Those cops should’ve disobeyed orders and put themselves I. Harms way to save the children .

I just found this podcast about a week ago and I work for a school system as a janitor and bus driver and this episode is big and I can say that the school that I work for just put all new bullet proof windows in upgraded our locks and cameras and made sure our main entrance into the school is locked and we also have a school resource officer so I hope we never have an issue

I can't imagine any "human being" within earshot of children crying and calling for "help" dispatch was actually calling the officers who were in the hallway! ( because the Chief left his radio in the office?)
Dispatch actually called saying that a 9 yr. old girl was in the classroom/is alive but he is coming back? Actually being there and not taking ACTION is cowardice in anybody's book, it takes a certain pos as an individual to “stand by” and let that happen to any child/ or children. Those officers on scene need to loose their badges and their retirement & prepare for a civil lawsuit from the parents. They were cowards. Parents who were there were actually taking action were their to save their own children were physically "prevented" to do so!
When parents react more than law enforcement does there is a serious problem. This is a black eye for the thin blue line. One officer named Reuben actually allowed his wife to "bleed out " for 77 minutes while she is texting him saying "I'm shot"...that's insane! It is documented on video...FACT!

I really believe it all goes back to lack parenting, a lot of kids these days aren’t brought up to respect anything whether it’s Authority, People, Property or life. As was said in the podcast Parents are too busy trying to be their kid’s friends, my dad and I are very close these days I’m 39 he is 70 and we are buddies due to the fact that growing up he wasn’t my Friend he was my Father and I had a real fear of disappointing or angering him growing up. Kid’s need their parents to be guidance not allies, and at times harsh disciplinarians. My two Cents. Stay Safe Gents.

Great podcast! I catching this podcast later than most. We recently went to one of our elementary schools just to get a lay of the land and the hurdles from school to school are incredible. Various types of doors/windows, staff with radios staff without any, open unattended doors. Securing some of these schools is daunting, especially when, as you guys addressed, parent don’t want closed campuses and or metal detectors at doors. That being said the police chief in Uvalde sure didn’t do us a solid. That excuse about the radio and not knowing he was in charge was comical to hear. Almost as bad as the guy who tells you he found the meth pipe you just pulled out of his pocket. I think the solution does start with parenting. Where it goes from there is anyone’s guess, but I do think law enforcement plays a huge role as well.
Keep up the great work, I look forward to the next podcast.

So I'm a very young leo and I got Instagram at a young age of 12. My siblings were also given access to social media at different ages based on maturity. I learned at a young age what to/not to post and to always think twice before I post. I 100% agree that dopamine is a big problem and I still have to manage my usage. But I'm not using a phone as a babysitter. An old friend of mine wasn't allowed to have social media until he was 18, and now, he doesn't know how to use it. Older cops are always shocked when I say I got social media at 12 y/o, but I tell them, I never have had a problem and managed my usage. Great video, love to hear different perspectives.

Great discourse guys. I commend you guys for discussing such a tragic, complex and unfortunately politicized subject. As a father I can’t begin to imagine what these parents are going through. I just watched my oldest graduate high school but my youngest is same age of those kids that that POS murdered. I have to change the channel when they cover it on the news. I think you guys touched on something important. All the Monday morning QB’s, media pundits or politicians are looking at solutions like fortifying schools or passing stricter gun laws but those things really only address symptoms of the problem and not the cause. The shithead that went into that school was a somewhat textbook troubled teenager. I think it starts with good parenting. Maybe if that kids parents weren’t strung out, absent, abusive, etc. the thought to go out and do something like that would never have popped into his mind. If any restrictions are put in place it should be who should be allowed to raise children.
    Great job guys.

I'm a school trustee for the 28th largest school district in Texas. I'm a little stunned at how unsophisticated and reactionary this discussion has been; it literally reminds me of discussions that were held 10, and even 20 years ago. Back then, it was violent video games, and before that, it was the corrupting influence of technology. Nope, sorry, crime rates were lower in 2014 than they were at any time in US history since 1962. Today that have risen again, but are still lower than crime rates in the 1990s.
My school district has 45 campuses and over 3800 external doors. On any give school day, you will not be able to get into 3799 of them. We've had audits and we are at the point where a "failure" is when an auditor can get into a storage shed on campus that does not connect with any building occupied with students.
In our district, our oldest campuses go back to the 1950s. Every single campus has been updated to a security standard where we have security vestibules...the door to the vestibule is unlocked. The door to the office from the vestibule is controlled by an electric lock. All you can do in the office is submit to screening; if you pass; you are buzzed through to where students are. If not, you leave, or you deal with a School Resource Officer. I'm writing this in 2024, but all this stuff was in place before Ulvalde.
All our older campuses have had refurbishments to the point where they are essentially new campuses. Our oldest unrefurbished campus dates back to the late 1960s, our next oldest unrefurbished campuses date back to the mid 1970s.
I know your broadcast was one week after Uvalde. Well, now it's much later, and much has been learned about what happened. Absolutely nobody in my community was satisfied with the LEO response to Uvalde. If that sort of response ever becomes common (I hope and pray it never does), then police responding to school shootings will find themselves in a tactical donut, defending against the shooter on the inside, and defending against an armed and very angry community on the outside. And you will be defunded, full stop.
Again, I'm a trustee, and I've had the conversation with the captain of our SRO force (we have 45 campuses and 45 officers, although they are not always assigned 1:1). He was adamant that what happened in Ulvalde would never happen here. Look, we've known since Columbine over 20 years ago what the response should be...that did not happen at Uvalde. Our SRO staff will enter AGRESSIVELY and ENGAGE any shooter who manages to penetrate our defenses WITH HASTE. That's the only LEO response that will be acceptable. That is the community's expectation. Those are your marching orders. I don't know what things are like in northern California, but I'm telling you, that's the way it is in most of Texas.

Dont hand me SOP's there were CHILDREN dying and 1 shooter if you have 2 officers on scene you have the bad guy outnumbered and you cannot make ne believe that you cant win that fight. I hate to say it but cowardice played a big part in the absolute failure of the LEO response. There were CHILDREN dying and you WAITED.....cowards of the highest order. Good points covered but I agree with the guy on the left you can’t put a law on social media. It’s a basic parenting thing! Taking these basic common things away from children will probably just get them bullied even more because now a days if your the only kid in school without Facebook, Instagram etc. . . I guarantee you will get bullied way worse for being the odd ball out. All the rest of the points covered was spot on guys and great podcast 🇺🇸

I think this is kinda biased, all my sisters (8th grade, sophomore and 21) they all do not have Facebook. They each have Instagram but the youngest doesn’t hardly use it. They are all popular and very pretty. So that social media idea is pretty biased about only a portion of the population. Just because you all fall into the category doesn’t mean that’s how everyone sees the world, through a screen 🙄

The biggest problem is gun rights, there is something wrong with the system if any one could turn insane and go buy an assault type rifle and ammunition to do mass shooting.
Uvalde police just wasn't trained or equipped for that type of incident.

  • @Thehamburgler002
    @Thehamburgler002 Před 9 měsíci

Guy with the beard is totally correct. As a millennial, I grew up with social media, and most of the content was harmless back then. Now, you have a lot of kids promoting stuff on social media that is very destructive. A few weeks ago, a couple of kids hit a man on a bicycle for a social media challenge, and it's sad to see the effect this is having on the younger generation. Many of the "pranks" on CZcams are just promoting illegal behavior (eg. Laurence finesso.)
I think that making. law to enforce age limits on social media might not be best. It would just make social media go underground and kids would be using unregulated apps. Social media companies could use ai tech to detect bullying on their platform and address it. Plus, red flag laws wouldn't hurt either. Just my 2 cents. Thanks for the discussion!

Come on guys…we’re going to say that playing cops and robbers or playing paintball or airsoft as a kid is wrong? Or is bad? That’s a little overboard don’t ya think? That’s some of the most fun I ever had as a kid. It doesn’t teach anything unless you’re already psychotic. I mean if we’re saying we need to use the same rules of gun safety with fake guns as we do with real guns how are we going to continue to train? Some of the best training I’ve done is in a shoot house with airsoft guns that are exact replicas of the actual weapons I would actually use. I don’t think I agree here.

Hell, You go into any DSHS building, any social security building, basically any government building and there is armed security right there at the door. What is so wrong with doing that for our children? Yes it sucks, but a classroom splattered with children body parts is way worse. I raised three kids who are all adults now, but now I have grandkids and I'm terrified. But if they have to go to a fortified school then so be it. The internet has completely destroyed our youth

@25:30 he hits the nail on the head. I’m in my early 40s when I was a kid if someone had a gun at school it was on a gun rack on their truck and it was opening day of hunting season. Education and acclimation are very important. Guns were a right of passage when I was growing up. I had toy guns and BB gun and there was a huge difference as a kid.

Billy playing Devil's Advocate. I had internet before my peers, around 2000 when I was a teen. That was waaaaay before most people understood the dangers. Yeah, there were predators.
So I monitor my kid's internet.
I'm with Mark on looking at the trees. No, tablet in the car unless it's a long journey. No TV in the bedrooms. The constant stimilulus is not good
You can tell Billy had good parents from how he thinks parents should act. "What are you playing? Cops and robbers? Great, let's have a conversation."
Unfortunately we have this problem for exactly that reason... single moms, overworked, overtired, no support, no male role model, un-noticed mental health issues in the kids, etc.
The important thing though is the middle ground, right? Use tech for what it's good for, but also practice mindful parenting.
So number 1 is to create more awareness about the various dangers of social media.
Number 2, to prevent school shootings is follow Japan's example, don't release the shooter's name and don't hype it up.

Most of these shooters are on SSRI's and have been playing First Person Shooter games by himself since he was 10 years old 8 hours a day. The amount of kids on brain altering drugs is insane now. I think it's maybe 6% of children at this point and rising.
Proper school security is the fastest and easiest way to keep these kids safe. I grew up in Texas, we've all shot guns and carry pocket knives, and after Columbine, that all changed. No pocket knife (well as far as they could see), more officers in our schools, doors were upgraded, locking protocols, we had to tuck our shirts in and use clear backpacks. Just having the cops there dissuades school shooters.
IMO it doesn't matter what gun the shooter uses, the kids are fish in a barrel. He gets into a room with 10 year olds..what weapon does he need to end their lives? Nothing really. He'll kill the kids, the police will show up too late and when they do he'll suicide himself. This happens almost every single time. As soon as the shooter encounters resistance, he shoots himself. I don't understand why the principal can't be properly trained and have a weapon in his/her office in case something goes down. If I'm a principal, the thought of not being able to protect my students would scare me. Armed faculty is a fail-safe.
The politicians won't get solutions because they only offer radical solutions. Parents continue to let their children stray/neglect them and buy them these violent games. Doctors hand these very powerful drugs out like candy. And what do we hear "Hey let's ban guns! Violent video games don't affect children! The cops were too scared to help kids!" That's all just silly talk by people who think with their emotions.
    Great video!
