I lost a best friend to end stage liver disease just over two weeks ago. His condition was complicated by kidney failure and ascites as well. I would ask all people who are stuck in the cycle of destructive drinking, please know that you are not alone. Please know that much of the depression and hopelessness you feel is due to your alcohol intake and it will subside once your alcohol intake decreases. Finally, please know that it is okay to reach out for help - you will be amazed how many people love you, care about your well being, and are willing to put everything aside to help you. You are worth it. This world is a better place with you in it.

This disease is not fun. I'm only stage one compensated, with diabetes, and auto immune. Already I deal often with pain all over my stomach, often in the spleen area, sometimes at the liver and pancreas, sudden bouts of sudden strong quzie feeling in my stomach. I too feel afraid of the progression of this disease. I have no one here in my life except for my cat and Jesus to go through everything with this disease. I also have frequent headaches and itching. I too would love prayers for everything I need to go through this dreaded disease. Mine is believed to be from fatty liver, although I abused alcohol too off and on for 22 years about twice a month, but not every month, i would take breaks for months on end. I used it to cope with the painful storms of life, like a two time rape survivior, the loss of my babies, a boy when I was 5 months along ,and a girl when I was 7 months along. I did not every use alcohoI during my pregnancy for either children. I dealt with alot of abandonment issues, many, many painful storms of life going back to early childhood. I just want to have an temporary escape form the pain and trauma, I dealt with PTSD also. I have not drank in over 20 years but have also had fatty liver for 20 years , and now cirrhosis for a year plus .. I know that we all die someday, but it's hard to deal alone. Please pray for me. Thank you, also I deal with ongoing fatigue daily, and interference with even going out for a walk. I used to walk up to 2 hours at a time. Now it seems that I need to sit down every block...
You said you " abused alcohol off and on for 22 years about twice a month, but not every month, i would take breaks for months on end " - when you were drinking how much did you drink ? how did the fatty liver for 20 years develop into cirrhosis ? it doesn't sound like you used large amounts of alcohol if only twice a month. were there other factors that caused this ?

Hey there! I am so very sorry that you haven't been feeling well. Having liver disease is no joke and it can make you feel so bad some days. The thing about it is too.... you don't get any kind of warning or anything to let you know that you are about to be ill. One minute everything is fine and the next you are laying on the bathroom floor with a cold rag on your head trying your best not to get sick. I am praying for you my friend! I’m literally in recovery right now after a liver biopsy. They’re thinking AIH (autoimmune hepatitis) possibly or NASH/ nafld of DILI.

How this came about for me is so crazy and so unexpected. I initially began watching your channel for support after giving up alcohol and also because I have a friend who is a full blown alcoholic that I am very worried about (I’m afraid she may have liver disease)
A few months pass a d whadaya know, I’m the one having liver problems. The drs don’t believe my liver problems are from alcohol but from AIH or NAFLD as my ultrasound showed fat infiltration. Thing is, my triglycerides are low and my BMI is 25, just on the edge of overweight.
I had been feeling exhausted plus have had back and hip pain for years. I felt like I better get in to check my hip and back and run blood work . My liver tests were elevated ast 52 amt 72. Dr wanted to recheck in two weeks. AST was 59 ALT was 112. Dr wanted to do a biopsy but I’d have to fly to Honolulu as I live in Kona. Keep in mind, I had been eating healthy, zero alcohol, exercise and my levels just kept going up.
I told her just give me three more weeks and let’s check again. I was SURE my levels would come down. Well, three weeks passed and my AST was 89 and my ALT was 201! Plus they ran a SMA IGG which I was positive for - a high indication of AIH. So Dr was like, you REALLY need to come and have a biopsy. Well, here I am, facing some kind of liver disease, but no matter what comes my, I just thank God that he revealed these things to me - yes I was praying and asking him to reveal what was wrong in my body - I just knew something was wrong.

I used to suffer from 'mornng sickness,' when i was expecting my son and the only thing that helped ease it was hard ginger sweets. Shame the hospital lost your blood results, not their finest moment.

@@liverdisease-qb6rk I am going back 28 years in England so I used to buy them in the local stores (they were old fashioned even then). So I've looked online and there are still companies selling them, Gin Gins do them (and are good) and old fashioned online sweetshops and both are in the US. Get the ones not coated in sugar. If I see them here then I'll pick up a few packs and try to get them shipped to you.
I have also heard that ginger candy is the best for nausea.
The only place you can buy them is online nowadays. Gin gin do hard boiled ginger sweets in the US

LD im glad you are doing well. I hurt my knee somehow and had to visit the urgent care for a brace. I havent been to a doctor since i stopped drinking and i was petrified to have my blood pressure done. My numbers were perfectly normal nurse said. 7 months no alcohol. I need to stop stalling on seeing my PCP for bloodwork though. Just scary man..

So sorry you're not feeling good L.D. I understand how you're anxious about your blood work situation because it's both helpful for your doctor and for yourself. It's certainly not fun being in limbo. Let's hope and pray you get your blood test results back asap and that the outcome is positive. Just try not to overdo things and get some much needed rest. I know from experience how not getting enough sleep doesn't help us recover. You are always in my prayers and your family as well. ❤

Ok got a question for you had went to er for bleeding down below a month ago if you get my drift. Bright red they did a ct and found varies said I needed upper and lower gi which is may 8. Talked to doctor who ran a mri two weeks ago and mri said I had upper and lower varies I heard of esophageal varies but not the lower ones. Doctor I’m not sure if she just doesn’t know what she’s talking about she says I don’t know how they know you have them because you can’t see them on mri or ct. but it clearly says it on my mri report what you think. By the way I’m not a good listener when it comes too staying still either. Also when they band the upper ones will have to sit still for a bit. And if I have the lower ones which I’ve never heard of how will they treat those
I get so many quick and sometimes enduring pains from my stomach, particularly spleen and liver. If I bend or turn too quickly it can feel like my liver or spleen is having a leg cramp if that makes any sense. I think my liver is 18.5cms. I also know I have a hernia or multiples but they have not been diagnosed. When that engages its a very sharp intense pain but goes away fairly quickly.
There’s an enzyme treatment that has miraculous results ...I can send you the list
Gallstones cause nausea and are very common

When u say that “gunk” can get in there what exactly r u talking about? My spouse has NASH (nonalcoholic cirrhosis) and he’s never had to have “gunk” cleaned out and he’s had cirrhosis for many years…r u referring to stool or fluid? Have you yet had to have varicies banded? Banding cuts off blood flow to the varicities and they die..if u start vomiting blood get to the ER fast that means the varicies will have started bleeding
Do you bruise after blood tests? I had my bloods taken last Friday and have a huge bruise now 😢
Absolutely! I get huge bruises on my arms where they take the blood. I bruise so easily now too. I have bruises all over my legs right now and I have Absolutely no idea where they came from. I didn't hurt myself or anything like that.... I don't know. It's part of it I guess. I hope that your results have come back ok. Have you gotten them back yet? Thank you so much for being here! LD, my doctor didn't order my AST/ALT on purpose even after I requested a full metabolic panel. I think the hospitals are being cheap trying to save money on tests.
That's just not cool. I went up there and did all that because they told me that I would have my results. I could have gone somewhere local. But, they told me no, because it would be easier for the dr to access my results if they are in their systems..... and they didn't have it? I'm sorry that happened to you. Thank you! God bless😊

It sounds as all in all your results were more positive than not, the missing test data although annoying is not the biggest deal…if any values were way off your Doc would have been notified immediately, critical information must be reported to the Doc as soon as it’s obtained. It is human nature to dwell on the bad or unknown…and sort of overlook the positive/progressive. Objective: you do look so very well, your color is much better, eyes clear…and certainly no cognitive impairment. Subjective: you naturally worry because you you have been so much. Reminder…you can’t fix overnight what was systematically torn down for 30 years…But…you can over time fix most things. I along with a load of people do keep you in our daily prayers, you are a very compliant patient with a wonderful and loving family…your journey may be hard and long…but I have faith that you will stay on the path and arrive. Thank you, your family and subscribers for all we do to support and encourage and share with one another and an especially big thank you for building the community.

What excersise do you do, how you spend your time with your family, what dates to you take your wife on. Share a grocery shopping experience. Share play time with your kids, share what matters NOW,. SHOW PLANTING YOUR GARDEN, This is redundancy, boring and a waste of time. Maybe you were a fool, I don’t think so! Just show planting your garden. Show nature. Show the sports you go to to watch your children so tired of your front porch! Do something new!
