Forging Jesus on the Cross - Chess Set 2020

In this video, I forge a rudimentary, stylized crucifix. I feel this project lends itself well to a novice smith with some practical experience, in that, it has a pretty clear step by step" recipe" with none of the steps requiring "tons" of skill to achieve an acceptable shape. The detail on the Christ figure was left sparse, merely suggestive of anatomical markers. One could certainly spend more time, adding extra details if they were so inclined. This approach could also be adapted and applied to other human type figures.

When you did the fold, roll and tilt of the head along with the outstretched arms it just came together. Abstract yet detailed hands amazing how a few hammer blows to the flat end of a rod became a hand. Watching the way you effortlessly move metal, is a gift to to us folks watching. Thank you sir.

I started my pawn a few days ago...Feeling deflated....the tail blew off!Grrrrr...Time for a break! I might have to weld it back together or start over. I’m not sure what I’ll be doing.
