I agree with TALLYTHER below. This was VERY well done, with great explanation and visual instructions. Thank you young man, and keep it up. I'm headed to my man cave to start on one right now !!
Very nice! I’ve made many from 1” and one from 2”. I don’t flatten I use that as a design element and make “shadow” cross with a fuller. I make a domed stand with copper or aluminum concho spacers. I often heat color the base purple, and Japan Brown the cross. Many ways to dress them. Great gift! Thanks!
Thank you for the fantastic how-to. Well done. As you mentioned, there are opportunities to tailor to a particular preference; I'll build one that is tig-welded to a nice base to free-stand on a shelf. You've given me the start and inspiration. Thanks again.
Thanks so much for this video. I now know where I've been doing things wrong; hopefully the cross I will do tomorrow will be as successful as yours. Didn't cut that piece out of the one I made last year, and I think that will make all the difference.
@@nathansforge thats awesome, im just getting to forge for the first time and was going to go by your video to make a cross .....thank you for the info !!

Great job. You said you was going to put bras on it how-do-you-do that. Just thinking about getting into forging. Is that a liquid and where do you get it? God-bless have a great day
It is done with a brass brush after the piece comes brown from the red heat and turned black you just scrub at it with the brush and that transfers a small amount from the bristles to the piece
This is by far the most thorough description of doing this type of cross. Very well done!
Great description of the process. I made 10 blanks today for next time I fire up the forge.
can't wait to make one!

Excellent instructional video. Best version for a split cross I've seen so far.
Excellent. I always knew there was an easier and more reliable way to make them, and I got a good idea on making myself a flatter. Many thanks.
Excellent
Thanks for posting such a great video
I’m starting out working with steel and I followed along and was very happy with the end result
Beautiful job. They turned out very clean and elagent design. Forge on. God bless.

Awesome I like your calm voice and easy instructions

Excellent craftsmanship, very nice. THANK you.
Было интересно.Обязательно попробую сделать похожий крестик.
Great work. Thank you for posting.
Great video BUT- NEVER hammer on the anvil with hardy in place.!!!!!! Many smiths have been seriously hurt doing that.
Great.
I liked the plain square cross the best. Great job!
Thanks! I’m definitely going to make some of these. :)
Very nice brother. Thumbs up and a new subscriber.
Cool Demo, gonna try it this weekend

@Edwin Brecken I've made three of them in the last few days, and showed a student how it was done. It works!
I’m glad I could help
Nice job!
I noticed how well you're holding and control with the tongs a great snug fit to the steel
Thanks great education video Sir
Beautifully simple but super piece....
Nice demo
I was wondering about the process. Thank you for sharing. I will be making this for sure.
thanks for watching if you have anything else you would like to see let me know

Awesome!
Nice job mate.
Thanks
Dude ingenious technique
Very cool 👍
GOOD JOB
Anyone else notice the 2nd mark was at 2.5. Not 2.25 inches 😊
Awesome looking work!! I was wondering about how many hours you have into the process of making the cross??
mad man when I have the propane forge going and I’m using my power hammer I can get about 8in an hour. By hand about 3
@@nathansforge thats awesome, im just getting to forge for the first time and was going to go by your video to make a cross .....thank you for the info !!
Brilliant ✝️♥️💐 I wish you would make more videos.... Your content is really good and could easily become profitable.
I will be making more content but I am in the process of constructing a workshop
Outstanding! Praise God!
Great video. I was wondering what tongs you are using?
Jamie Turner
Those are a pair of 5/8 bolt tongs from “off centre forge”.
That's cool
I can't stand the split cross
But I love the looks of this one. Great job
You should do a video on how you add the brass.....great video!
Just brush it with a brass brush when hot, under a red color.
light red and dropping down into a black heat
@@nathansforge exactly. Too hot it won’t stick. Run the brass brush slowly. Do you clear coat yours?

What is the rpm of the bandsaw?
Is it 14 tpi? Bi metal?.thanks.
it is probably around 60-120 RPM and yes it is 14 TPI
Very nice work and nice anvil. Peter Wright anvil?
i am not sure what it is. the proportions appear to be the same as the peter wrighe but the only markings is a number on one side

I know different markets will dictate price but is that a $10 cross? Drill a hole in the top and hang it on a walk or from the rear view mirror.
What kind of bandsaw do you use
It’s the harbour freight Bauer portaband with a plate mounted on top of the blade guide
I made the mistake of making one of these for a friend now all her friends want one.
That’s how it works
please tell the machine name in which you cut the rod from between
It’s a Milwaukee portaband bandsaw. I mounted it on the wall with some scraps of wood and replaced the lower guide with a large flat plate
Do you sell the crosses?
chuck Albright I do but I have not had the time to make them at the moment.
@@nathansforge Ok, can you recommend someone else I can contact for similar crosses?
Still selling the forged crosses?
I do not currently have any in stock as i am working on moving workshops
