Forging a Vulture's Head - Chess Set 2020

In this video, I make a vulture head that will become a knight in our chess set. Stylized bird heads lend themselves quite well to sculptural smithing but it can be tricky to get enough anatomical markers to easily distinguish a particular species. The tooling and process, however, are pretty basic and well within the beginner's ability to experiment with.

That guy's expression reminds me of the cartoon: two vultures perched on a dead tree, and one turns to the other and says, "Patience, my ass - I want to KILL something!"
Very talented. Well done
Didnt get any notification of your last few videos even when I have your bell notification enabled.
Great sculptural BS videos.... inspiring. ..
Thanxalot from the Netherlands. ..
Thank you. Not sure why notifications only work intermittently...
Cool stuff. I’ll keep WTCTBA in mind next time I’m in the shop.
Shows the tenacity of a good tradesmen to “ forge forward “ when you get out of sequence 👍

"Just for shits and giggles" ...as soon as I heard this I knew you were from Ontario. LOL Love the vulture, as a beginner I am trying to learn how to do similar animal shapes to put onto my fire pokers. Thanks for the great video!
Thanks again Thak, I have been inspired by your sculptural videos to the point that I lashed out and made a Ned Kelly helmet on the top of a bottle opener. I'm definitely going to keep doing sculptural work, it's really fun. There is a pic of it on my facebook page if you are interested to see it.
Fantastic!
bwahaha, that intro was amazing xD

Looks awesome. Gives me some more ideas to try.
You had me at "Frowny Brows" lol

You do really good work I enjoy watching you and you're doing sculptures I hope you do a horse head I'm really struggling can't get it right
I think I would prefer this as the bishop
I like it!! What part of the eventual chess set is this piece?
A knight
Great forging, however, my wife came in during the video and heard how you pronounced “out” and she said he’s from Virginia. Well close, he’s Canadian 😎😂
Hi
Flamingos turn pink because of all the shrimp they eat - making them the Soda Popinski of the animal kingdom. I think you should reconsidering the Bad-Assitude of Flamingos; what other animal do you know of is colored by the sheer volume of their victims?
You piqued my interest, so here is a list.
BLUE-FOOTED BOOBIES
EASTERN EMERALD ELYSIAS
SALMON
GOLDFINCHES
CEDAR WAXWINGS
NUDIBRANCHS
FRILLED DRAGONS
I think Eddie would make a better knight
