I use this one to generate the list of parts but not the cut diagram because it generates too much waste. I transfer the list of parts to Cutlist Optimizer (pro) on my phone. That one is really optimized and usually saves me a whole sheet compared to the Sketchup extension.

Andrew, is there a way to portray angles or miters in the cutlist? I as because your 4 cherry pieces have miters on top. Those are easy enough cause they are 45 degree angles but for a piece that is a bit more intricate is there a way to show what angles need to be cut? The only way I have found is to keep going back to the design and measuring everything out manually in sketch up. I hope that question wasn’t to confusing.

Andrew: I appreciate the time and effort you took to help me work through both Sketchup and Cutlist. One thing I noted was that you had not included a board covering the back of the dresser. I presumed it should be 1/4" and I made it OSB for the purposes of completing this tutorial. I did note, however, that Cutlist would not generate properly while that back board was in place, so I "moved" it away from my drawing and it worked just fine. Is there a workaround for not having to "explode" the drawing?

I wish you would've mentioned which version of the program you were using when we started. :( spent all day creating my project now I cant create a cut list on the free, personal version. Thanks for your help anyway, overall it was helpful but that would've been a huge time saver.

@@CrustyClad Hey, I ended up just getting the 30 day free trial for the pro version of sketchup to complete this project (easily) and then I'll cancel it before the trial is up ;)

Upon unboxing, I was immediately upset at how the rails were very noticeably bent. But I kept going, all tools needed to assemble were included czcams.com/users/postUgkxqtX4Dxs6aecAZEuz6GY5-d81YecKCshn and I had it set up in about 30 minutes. Honestly I love this thing, make sure to read the measurements and measure your space so you know if it'll work for you. I bought this to put inside my closet, underneath where I hang my clothes and it is absolutely perfect! It is VERY sturdy and all drawers glide easily and mine are stuffed, and they are still flush when closed.

My MS Excel does not have this Extension or Drawing Cabinet capabilities. We need more info that just "" Drawing cabinets with MS Excel"". or just ""Generate Cut-list Woodworking 3D SketchUp"
