  • Hello Everyone!
Tuesday marked day 5 of the Johnny Depp Vs. Amber Heard trial currently taking place in Fairfax, Virginia. The trial is seeking to resolve claims of defamation Johnny Depp has brought against Amber Heard stemming from her Washington Post OpEd published in 2018. Ms. Heard has filed counter claims against Mr. Depp of a similar nature.
We started by finishing off the testimony of Sean Bett, Johnny Depp's personal body guard and member of his security detail.
Following Mr. Bett we heard from Keenan Wyatt. Keenan is an audio guy and good friend of Johnny. They've worked on many film sets together. He told us about vacationing with Johnny, his kids, and former partner Vanessa Paradis. He also recounted an interesting story about Mr. Depp's use of an ear piece of set to listen to music while acting, as well as feed him lines. Apparently Johnny frequently rewrote dialogue before going to perform, and this allowed Keenan and Johnny to co-ordinate the lines Johnny had settled on.
After lunch, Johnny Depp finally took the stand. He started off rather nervous, but began to relax and get in the groove. He told the court about his childhood, the origins of his substance abuse problems, his father leaving, his first meeting with Amber Heard, and more. The court wrapped at 5 sharp, and we will resume Johnny's testimony at 10AM EST, Thursday, April 20th, 2022.

I had a friend, an absolutely wonderful lady, who did a movie with him. For years, she talked about that experience as being a scary, vulnerable time with a big bright spot: Johnny Depp. She told me stories of how he would apologize to her anytime he - in character and scripted- said something mean to her. She told me stories of a young man who seemed to sense her vulnerability and became her friend and champion. How he wanted to ensure she as a person wasn’t harmed by the verbal abuse her character received. She told me of the cherished notes and gifts she had received from him in the years after the movie, when he became a huge star, but still remembered their friendship. I thought of Darlene frequently yesterday. She has passed away, but would be heartbroken to see him in this situation. 💔 Also… after hearing him speak, his love for ellipses in texts makes complete sense.

After listening to Depp speak, it seems crystal clear to me that he was taken advantage of, to almost comical levels, by Ambers entourage. It's not even remotely surprising to me, that when things went south, everyone on the gravy train savagely bit the hand that was feeding them, because that's what parasites always do. They will hate you and resent you, for your generosity, the moment you stop giving it, as if it was their birthright. The only real criticism I have for Johnny, is that he was almost criminally gullible, and he should have seen her coming a mile away. For example, when she knew so much about the Blues Music he listened to. She was too perfect to be real, and he should have been old and wise enough to have realized that.

Johnny has now identified “two different Amber’s”. The first was loving, kind and sweet. The second is a stone-cold nightmare. It doesn’t bode well for Amber that her demeanour in the court room does not align with the “kind Amber”. In other words, the abuser came to court-not the angel. She only reinforced that by keeping her eyes down until Johnny took the stand and then she locked onto him and repeatedly scanned the jury to gauge their reactions. Not many battered women defiantly stare down someone who has caused them PTSD. She does not appear “wounded”, she appears vengeful instead. She has lost the court of public opinion without saying a word-she’s Just. That. Smug.

The earpiece information is important because Amber has claimed that Johnny was too intoxicated to remember his lines during Pirates of the Carribean and as a result had to use an earpiece. The suggestion being that Johnny was removed from the sixth Pirates of the Carribean film because of his poor work ethic, alcholism and drug abuse. Understanding that he has used an earpiece for a while before the Pirates films makes Amber's claim seem like a lie. Johnny has explained in interviews that he listens to music on set in order to stay in character, so the account from Keenen Wyatt seems reliable.

My admiration and gratitude to Johnny for humanizing such struggles is immeasurable. It's hard to contemplate the fortitude and courage it must have taken to discuss such things so publicly, but it has been enormously helpful to so many addicts watching, as well as to those who have loved someone struggling with such demons. There should be a special corner of Hell reserved for Amber for putting this special person through so much heartache and torture. Before learning the details of Amber's treatment of Johnny, I had never experienced such a viceral hatred towards someone I've never met. Nonetheless, I am immensely proud of Johnny today and always. Another observation is that all of Amber’s friends and sister lived in Johnny’s properties rent free. This could very well explain why they were in cahoots with Amber. They needed to frame Johnny of assaulting Amber, so she could get a restraining order and secure the penhouses to themselves. Accdg to Isaac Baruch, Amber told him that they only faked the bruises and all as advised by her lawyer. Johnny Depp is shy, not a talker, and doesn't like to watch himself on the screen. These are just a few of the things I've heard him say in some interviews. I believe what we saw on the stand was the real John C. Depp II, not Johnny Depp, the actor. Yeah, he started out slow, but it was very painful for him to talk about uncomfortable incidents in his life-- the abuse, the drugs, the alcohol, and on and on. John C. Depp II was pure honesty on that stand. And if I was a juror I would have picked up on that right away. I think he's very credible whether he stumbled over his words or not. He's a smart man, he's just not a talker. Yep, I believe him, and you can rest assured that Amber Heard was taking notes for her attack. Johnny wants to clear his name, he wants people to know he's not a wife beater. If anything he's abused himself. MOST actors do not remember all their lines. We heard this directly from Johnny, albeit, indirectly. They are coached, criticized, and corrected constantly, in a dynamic, ever changing environment of lights, sets, sounds, weather changes, certain risks, long daily schedules, settings away from familiar comforts of home, ever present paparazzi, people touching them, dressing them, and on and on. Depp has played the LEAD in POC and every one of his films. Performance expectations are not only high, they're non negotiable. It doesn't matter if you are sick, upset, bored, or drained. Who among us can remember hundreds, if not 1000s of anything? Think about it. Count them: how many lines did Depp have in POC? He'll be back up and running as Jack in a year. No Hollywood production company would suspend their greatest monetary producing star for long - just look at Grammy's and Smith - even in the face of violence, the vultures were at work and given his award. We've all heard the old adage, "The show must go on". Johnny's show WILL go on. This is a temporary hiatus from acting. He clearly hates this but he wants to set his reputation right. To me, some of his most valuable testimony was his description of drug use. I had received the impression that he was taking drugs 24/7. He dispelled that. Oxycodone has ruined so many lives; I bet there are several people on the jury who knows someone who has had to struggle with prescription addiction. It certainly makes him more sympathetic. Amber’s testimony will either make it or break it and considering how poorly she did during the deposition, I think the jury will see through her. At least, I hope so.

    • @James-cc7cq
      @James-cc7cq Před 2 lety +4

I agree, especially his history with the drug use starting at 11. Clearly drugs have been a coping mechanism for him throughout his life, and the idea that drugs somehow turned him into an abusive lunatic with Amber seems much less likely to me now. If anything, I wonder now if she wanted him off the drugs so much because she couldn’t get the rise out of him when she wanted to. If it’s in her nature to need that emotional codependence with someone, I can’t imagine Johnny would fulfil that need when he’s medicated away all his feelings. I kind of feel sorry for Amber, I wonder now if she expected some passionate fairytale life with him that never manifested. Like she said, he was an old guy playing the guitar. But to me, it seems clear that she has a spiteful or vindictive streak and I still can’t see that in JD.

If Johnny loses, at least he will have succeeded at getting the truth out. Those of us who love Johnny as an actor and believe he is telling the truth will continue to support him regardless of the outcome. Even if he loses, he will have convinced at least some of the people of his innocence.I have no desire for Amber to be destroyed, but I hope that by punishing her that other persons will be less likely to defame someone and cause sheer havoc both financially and emotionally.

Here is one thing about Johnny that I believe i figured out ... I know the personality because I'm that guy myself.
Johny early on explained that he runs away from confrontations with Amber when it gets heated because her way to solutions are fights. This is a personality afraid of conflicts and if possible you'll do anything to avoid them if the only solution that pops up in your head ends with a fight. You just DON'T want to fight as a pacifist.
So how does this connect with all the "sorry we fought" messages that Rottenborn read?
Easy: Being this personality you HATE fysical fights, you HATE everything resembling arguements and things that can affect you in a negative way. This will kill you while trying to figure out what just happened. When you're back in the game and all your thoughts are gathered again, you take it upon yourself to excuse the situation because you need that to be able to move on. So.. You'll write which is the easiest way without having direct confrontation and say "I'm sorry .. I didn't mean that.... I'm sorry we fought.. I hate myself when we fight".. and so on... Because in doing so the situation will be neutralized and you live to see another day. That is why all these messages have the words "fight" in them. The biggest give away is that there is not a single word mentioning him punching or hitting AH, just the "sorry we fought"
That's the person I believe Johnny Depp is. And everything points to that direction. If the Jury don't see that while I do clearly.. then there's no hope for JD.

I've been waiting like so many for this to finally come to trial but there's just no way that I could listen to the whole thing everyday and I'm very happy with your summation of each day. I did catch Johnny's testimony yesterday though, and I've got to say that I believe everything he said about his childhood. I grew up in a similar situation and I knew that the things he was saying, and his feelings, along with the lasting effects of that type of abuse is not something that you can fake believably. without living it you don't know those niggling voices, and old tapes that play in your head your entire life. they make you feel less of a person than other people. you try not to bring attention to yourself, because as a child, attention was not a good thing. and you do try to self medicate to ease the pain. Johnny and I are the same age and we grew up in a time when this type of behavior from a parent went mostly unreported. so you made the best of a bad situation and just tried to find a way to survive. and also, you don't attack other people later because you know how that feels. if nothing else, you never want to make people feel what you felt like. I never knew these things about Johnny, but listening to him, I knew they were true as he said them.

Here's a question: during AH's testimony, she wasn't allowed to say what she herself said. Day 15 of the trial, heresay was objected to numerous times. Ms. Bredehoff said she didn't understand. Johnny was allowed to talk and talk about things he said. Did the defense not object to Johnny's heresay because they didn't understand the judge's rules about heresay?
