For those with 2018 WRX, place key in [ON] position. Once switched to [ON], you have 30 seconds to get 20 buckle/unbuckles. Just insert the clip, push the button, and quickly insert again (repeat x20). After you get 20 clicks, turn the car [OFF] then insert the seatbelt into the receptacle. Start your car and wait a few seconds. Unbuckle your seatbelt, and the light/chime will remain off until you ever disconect your battery. Repeat this process for passenger seatbelt if desired. The important thing to note here is for the 2018 WRX, [ACC] mode doesn't work. It needs to be in [ON].
Thanks for posting this video btw!

I had to watch this about four times before I could get it to work successfully. It was confusing because I didn’t know if I should have the parking brake on or not since he mentioned it and when I counted how many times he did it, he unbuckled the seatbelt it more like 40 times so I tried to 20 times and it didn’t work and then I tried it 40 times and it did. But now that I got it, I am so so so grateful because my frustration was about five times more than his because it is the most annoying thing in the world and I think him so much for making this video because I’m finally free. That's weird, I have a 2014 Impreza and it only bongs at me when driving over 10kph, although if there's so much as my phone resting on the passenger seat the weight sensor is so sensitive that it'll register that as someone being there so I can't leave anything on that seat while I'm driving without that damned bonging. Gonna try this out today.

I have a 2018 suburb legacy and it drives me insane . So accessory mode, buckel and unbuckle 20x turn on and it won't do it again? Is accessory mode just turn the key but not start?: Sorry I'm slow

When I first read how to do this, I read it on FB and I thought it was someone trolling.. Why? idk, no one trolls on the Subaru FB page ever.. haha I'm so glad you did this, I'm going out to my car and doing this right now.. maybe I'll even do it on my wives 19 Outback too! I'll let you know if it works..

If I removed the passenger seat.... does this work? My understanding is that I have to disconnect the battery for 20 min. BEFORE disconnecting the air bag plug. So then disconnect the seat belt plug. Then do your trick??? Any help on this would be appreciated. I will not be reinstalling the passenger seat for a few weeks. REALLY hope I don't have to listen to the beeping!! Thanks

I tow my dogs around and the seatbelt alarm is god awful. If I do this for the drivers seat, do I have to do it in the rear seats as well?

My wife loves her Subaru. But the persistent and constantly louder seatbelt chime has made me want to trade in this two month old car. I don’t drive without a seatbelt. Except for when I’m maneuvering around in a parking lot, or driveway. I hate this chime. Thanks for the video. I hope this is real.

My 06 dings while stationary. If I get in the car and don't buckle up, it just yells at me until I do, moving or not. Real pain in the ass, but it's a nice reminder. I'll probably hang on it until I get my airbags operational lmao. Previous owner did a seat swap to sti seats and never put resistors in the plugs or changed the passanger occupancy sensor over. Havent found a shop thatll work on it, and the seat is so rusted on to the mounts that I can't get it off.

Can’t wait to try this on my 17 Forrester. However, I don’t quite understand what you mean by putting it in “accessory mode“? I’m not very technical, obviously!

I like the idea of a seatbelt reminder chime but my god is it obnoxiously loud in this car. A lot of times I have to remove my seat belt to reach out to the ticket booth in a parking garage (low car problems) and then quickly drive off since there are probably drivers waiting behind me too.

So I did this in my front driver seat and it worked for the first two riders I had in the backseats. But on the third rider in the backseat, the chime came back. Do I need to do it for each seat? Or just retry it? Maybe disconnect the battery first and then retry it? Idk, anyone have any thoughts?? TIA
