- My Pebble has seen better days, so I'm going to replace it with a custom smart watch! An ESP32, a display, and a battery are going into this sucker, plus a custom watch case printed on a Form 2!
In the next episode in this series, I'll get the custom PCB back from the board shop, populate it, program it, and assemble the whole thing!

Why are you only at 2.5k?!?! You are at the same level as the other people such as Styropyro and the Hacksmith! That project it AMAZING!
You're right
Probably better than the hacksmith honestly. Pretty much all of the hacksmith's recent projects have been incredibly lame, including the "lightsaber" which was just a reskinned plasma torch. Two of their projects were actually the exact same thing, but with a different aesthetic. This is way cooler in my opinion.
Stephen those cnc shots were like music to my eyes! I admire your work. Greetings from Turkey
Don’t take this the wrong way, but you’re adorable. Like absolutely adorable. I want to give you a hug.
You are the exact person I aspire to be in the very near future. Thanks for being awesome.
Impressive and interesting stuff as always, Steven! Can’t believe you still only have 2.5k subs.
If you don't know what it is please check out the digimon vital bracelets, how difficult would it be to make improvements on one of those ( better battery, waterproof like the fitbits ect)
You know those flexible screens that are starting to become actually good? What if you had a screen that folded up tiny on your wrist but could be bigger to watch stuff on like a normal phone?
you are making me really excited about playing with hardware again :)
You can get some UV curable solder mask and a UV naillight to get a matt black solder mask on your milled circuit boards. You just have to paint it on there.
AMAZING project. Are you plan to make
it open source in future? Big community would make this project better, adding features or optimising system.
Defo by *far* the coolest DIY smartwatch 😎😎😎
Now that's an interesting approach, actually doing everything yourself, that's great!
And you can take that metal protective case off, and even solder each component under neath it directly to the pcb to make it even more smaller
This is pretty sick. Can’t wait to see it when it’s finished!
You are rad! I'm so excited to have just found your channel. Keep being awesome!
4:50 can you provide connections and the code?
Should collab with strange parts!
Mitch Altman could introduce him probably
I would love to! It'd be cool to work on a project with him.
There are also esp32s without wroom. You have to build a external circuit du Drive it, gut in your Case smaller
really didn't expect 2.6k subscribers, this is very nice
Add a NAND for storage over SPI, then you get to display MJPEG video on the display! -Frank
For UI, I think, in menu either show only one icon or max 4 icon in grid; with scroll.
If remember correctly the android devices have a built in program which sends stuff like time etc what ever it wants to a bluetooth hid device set as a smart watch, I am building my own esp32 based one but with a 2.4 inch display
How exactly is the lcd interfaced with esp?
The connections, the code, etc without the drivers (because the TFT LCD modules always comes with a driver ic, do does the esp does the job of the drivers also🤔)
This will really helps in my future projects.
Amazing video, I am attempting to make one myself, so far all the screens I tried are too thick, what keyword should i use to search for the one you used, I don't seem to find it? thanks so much :)
Good job
Love ya from Egypt
This video is amazing. I have few things to know. What is the display model you used ? How to program that diaplay? Can you tell me
Now, you should make your own smartphone
Hey what programs do you use for designs and 3D models ? I have a watch idea that I want to design.
hey man just wanted to say I love your videos , I see the same mind set in my self as I do you , you love to make things on your own just as I , because why purchase really expensive items when you could just make them yourself, for example I made my own google home from a raspberry pi board and a microphone and a button and 3d printed a case for it and alot of other things to but why go into detail, you are what I strive to do in life , i'm only in high school but I hope to do a lot more and aspire to do something like you and once again love your videos keep them coming plz.
Really nice design man! Where do you work?
Could you share with us the Name of the Screen or a Link for the seller ?
Link of that display please
sir please share the code and circuit layout if possible. i also want to make it. please provide the link for the code and the circuit board layout.
Whose bootloader did you use on the ESP32? Did it come with the Espressif bootloader pre-burned? -Frank
Hi, please I want to learn how to make this watch in more details from scratch
parts list and code??
@2:22 what is the name of that machine?
I love your vibe 😄
What software did you use for the programming?
I used the Arduino IDE! It's got the compiling and uploading toolchain for the ESP family of chips all integrated so it makes it super easy to use!
Stephen The Robot thanks for responding! I was looking into working with electronics but couldn’t figure out the right software to use.
STEPHEN. Do you know how G3AR is? He hasn’t uploaded in a while is he okay?! Pls respond
Yeah he's alright! He's a busy guy right now, but he's ok!
Stephen The Robot. Thank you for telling me, I actually had a nightmare that he died after I found out Grant Thompson had died. Probably my subconscious. Btw, what’s your view on the whole skin chip thing? (I’m on your side) we had a pretty heated discussion on you chip door video in the comment section
What screen is that
Great video man... Never seen your channel before but I subscribed.
What is your milling machine ?
Can you please share the display connection with esp32
fantastic dude
That’s why I have the world’s smallest soldering iron true
Does anyone know the reason behind the black horizontal stripe on the screen? 6:10
That's actually from the protective film on the screen! Should go away once I peel it off
@@stephen_hawes what a relief! Thanks for the answer
What are the things we need
This is brazy
Can we have the ref of the screen ?!
No me gusta.me encanta buen trabajo 🎉🎉❤❤
Let work to together 💯
❤️
cool
Update plz!
Could you post the pcb files.. also take my sub.
