Mya Williams if u keep judging and objectifying women, ur contributing into this endless obsession girls fall into to regulate their bodies. Ignoring our looks and focusing on other things, say: career/education/family/relationships and be a Person.
These comments, (don’t be obese don’t be anorexic) just keeps us as women focused on our looks ALL day All week All year, from diet to lose weight to diet to gain weight. It’s not healthy to obsess over our looks. Same goes for men. If u spend an hour everyday for months to have a 6 pack, u could have used that time to read a book or make a project.
Lets not regulate our own bodies, or other people’s bodies. Lets not voice our opinions and contribute to girls (or guys) obsession with and fear of weight.

sara h please tell me you’re joking.
No one in their right mind should ever defend the continuing support for obesity and/or anorexia.
What you’re essentially saying is, “people who are too skinny or too fat shouldn’t have to change for you! Let them look the way they want to look! >:(“
Anorexic or obese people are unhealthy. They are destroying their bodies with either their lack of or too much food consumed. They are *literally* killing themselves, and people are not only against it because it does not look nice, but because it is killing these people!
Food related disorders can be fixed.
If you’re obese, you can try exercising and eating healthier.
If you’re anorexic, you can try feeding yourself a bit more than you usually do and also try exercising to gain muscle.
people are not against these disorders because they look bad. They are against it because they want to help these people who are suffering.
Get your head out of your ass and do some research before you go off on someone trying to defend a genuinely good point.

@@sarleo1dv women are the ones who care about this stuff way too much. Men also like to look good but women exagerate so much that annoys. And dont give me the "thats because society obectifies women and they are like obligated, because men only want those girls", because if women stopped the image obsession you think men were on to do what? Dont get no more women and just jack off? I dont think so right? The problem in here is just one: women got to stop competing with each other for who got the more curves. I've been self conscience about being curvy, (big boobs and big hips) my whole life. I'm not at all like that lady on the magazine and also not like the ladies on the other end of the spectrum either. I just thought I was "fat" by the standards of the day. Then I met a girl where I worked , she was at least a foot taller than me and super skinny. And very sweet and kind. I never could have guessed that she had issues with her body as well. She looked like a model. She came into work crying one day because her boyfriend said she had a "boy's body" and through her tears said that she'd tried to gain weight with shakes, etc. but her metabolism just wouldn't allow it. That was just heartbreaking to me... I guess the grass is always greener, but I feel like us gals really beat ourselves up for not being the ideal we see in our minds. As different as that ideal may be, It's usually the complete opposite of what we are by nature.

Girls starve themselves, some take drugs to stay slim and many actually have very serious body dysmorphia, which often times can lead to anorexia and bulimia. And these eating disorders are in no way prettier or healthier than obesity, but still society seems to believe that slim is good, and fat is bad, forgetting to ask how any of these girls get where they are.

Anorexia is the deadliest mental illness. This clip kind of irritates me because yes, anorexia & the glorification of skinny bodies IS worse than obesity & this magazine cover. I just wish they would put more average bodies on the cover & not one extreme or the other

Agree in some part but not all. My girlfriend often gets called ‘skinny’ or people think she is unhealthy.
She is slim and no way underweight and perfectly healthy. She should not be demonised for being healthy but unfortunately it happens all too often.
Society is now accepting a more unhealthy weight with every year and the bar is being lowered. This is extremely dangerous.
Diabetes is the fastest spreading disease in the world which is directly linked to obesity, anorexia and bulimia are nowhere near the rate of diabetes.

Landon Tristen some people are also really overweight due to income issues. Especially in America. It’s way easier to get $35 of McDonald’s than it is to get $35 of fresh produce. You get more McDonald’s for that amount, too. And sometimes when you’re low income, you can only afford processed cheap food. It’s sad that the system pretty much just sets people up for failure. Lots of people in America aren’t taught proper nutrition either. It is however, comfortable to be fit and healthy.

Why can't the left just be reasonable about anything? There is some evidence that even subconsciously we treat fat people differently. So consciously try to be as decent as you would to them as you would anyone else. But do not normalize that level of obesity. Do not normalize serious mental conditions like gender dysmorphia. If you want to be compassionate then be that. Telling a kid it is okay to go through a sex change is not compassion. It's madness. Our most well intentioned things often backfire. People forget that the black community did not want welfare. They thought it would do exactly what it has done. Incentivize having more children you cannot pay for, etc.

    @wiktoriachoina Před 3 lety +1

To me personally, body positivity is about loving yourself with something you can’t change. Like if your really short or if you have a skin condition like Winnie. Not being overweight and promoting it. That’s unhealthy. Idk what happened because now when you see a skinny girl people hate her because she’s skinny but when people see an overweight person they love her and tell her she’s prefect and gorgeous. That’s not right? Like if you have got wider features or a proper illness where you can’t loose weight no matter what you eat, that is body positivity you cannot change that however if you make yourself unhealthy and overweight, don’t bother to workout, have trouble running a little, that is no longer body positivity. The people that hate on upper skinny models and say it’s unrealistic of course it’s unrealistic! They are models, it’s their job and they work really hard to get that look. Some people are just lazy and decide to use body positivity as an excuse. Please stop lying to these women saying they look beautiful and that their body weight is perfect because it’s not this is no longer beautiful or healthy.

personally as someone who’s been through anorexia and relapsed twice, being over weight isn’t “just as unhealthy” the models who are dying from anorexia are literally on the brink of death. Anyone with money can have a “perfect body” how do you know she hasn’t sacrificed things to be plus sized? Do you know how hard it is as a woman to thrive as an “overweight woman”. People are mean as fuck ! The anorexic models who you think “look good and beautiful” YES IT TAKES WORK BUT ITS A FUCKING ILLNESS IT DOESNT MATTER HOW “hard you work” FOR YOUR BODY. This
personally was very hurtful. I don’t agree with this video. Being overweight is less dangerous than bring underweight. Some people are “morbidly obese” because they’ve dieted their whole lives and now their metabolism doesn’t work. SHES BRAVE BECAUSE HOW WOULD YOU FEEL IF U WERE ON THE COVER WITH YOUR BIG “unhealthy” BODY? Just because someone can reach a body shape/ weight that’s “attractive” doesn’t mean you’re healthy and personally when i look like that i’m awful to be around and all i think about is food and my body and how much i hate myself. Please do some research !

Saying you can be healthy at that weight is like saying a smoker is healthy because they don't have lung cancer yet

The fat model lady claims this all the time. She spouts that her body is totally healthy as if everyone just believes her. It's obviously bullshit.

I have an autoimmune disease that affects my weight. I try harder than most people try at anything in their whole life to maintain a healthy weight, and I'm still overweight. I have a strict diet and I exercise regularly. My doctors have said that if I want to lose the rest of my weight I need to be medicated. This medication could make me severely ill. I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. Never judge, because you just don't know a person's circumstance or story, or how it might differ from your own struggles. Do I not deserve celebration for my efforts, just because the outcome isn't the optimum ideal? Maybe instead of just promoting aesthetics, we need a deeper dive culture where we promote individual narratives as opposed to solely presenting the outside appearance and taking our cues from there?

I'm an ass man myself, and I can safely say that it is significantly more attractive to have a real solid ass that's actually made of muscle than some random silicone shit that some doctor shoved in there...
