- The final leg of our boating journey takes us to Neptune's Staircase and the end of the Caledonian Canal. We start the day at Laggan Lock before crossing Loch Lochy where the weather turns against us. We pass Gairlochy Lock and Swing Bridge, Moy Bridge, and arrive in Banavie at the base of Ben Nevis where Colin walks Neptune's Staircase Locks to join the Jacobite Express, also known as the Harry Potter Express!

Does anyone else click the "like" button on every Foxes Afloat video even before they've watched it?
I do that. I get so engrossed in their vlogs I am afraid I will forget! I have forgotten that like button on a few other channels. Bad me!
Yes, you know its always going to be very good.
Absolutley
Every time. There is no chance I won't like it.
Haha! Keep doing that 👍🏻
Thank you for another episode filled with double entendre and silliness. There is something so endearing about the two of you that I adore.
Aww, thank you!
What a day I've had - passed my theory test, landed a new job, and a new Foxes video to watch on the train home! 😀😅
Nice one!
Thanks guys. Did this trip 30 years ago but still remeber it fondly - a barmaid in Fort William in particular responding to a remark about the weather "If ye dinnae like the rain then dinnae come to Scotland!" - told us! 😂
🤣
The very best Pub-Barge i know ;-)
Thanks again for the flashback to the Caledonian Canal!
If you fancy another journey on this kind of boats, i'd recommend a week or two on the Shannon river in ireland...
It's already in the planner 😉
@@FoxesAfloat oh, neat!
I'm looking forward to these episodes (and all other next ones of course).
Another nice holiday to remember then 😀
I'm excited. It's time for the Wheel! The Hogwarts Express was awesome. Otis was looking majestic as usual with the wind in his hair. Loved the inside driving with Otis navigating.
Us too!
You guys never disappoint me! If it’s not the scenery and adventures it’s your personalities. You two make the videos so much fun! Thank you so much for taking me!!!!
Awesome, thank you 🙏😎❤️
I have really enjoyed touring the Caledonian with you all. Sad it’s the end, but excited to see what comes next. Xx
Us too!
I am 63 and have been a widower for 3 long years now. Like you I have suffered from depression and anxiety for most of my life, I meet my partner at 15 and she was the reason for living. I think she was my counsellor, social worker and support since losing her to cancer the demons have slowly returned. Like you I have recently been diagnosed with autism, which affects my social skills. I listen to you describing your feelings and I see the same feelings inside me. I have no one to talk to, sometimes I just need a hug and someone to say “it will be OK” I don’t have anyone. I happily die tomorrow with no regrets, life is currently empty and meaningless.
Thank you for make my day a little brighter.
Hi Richard.
I'm so sorry you lost your rock. I have nightmares about losing Shaun and would probably feel the same way you do if/when that happens. I know there are no words I can say that will make you feel any less desperate but please know that you're not alone and that she will always love you as you love her. Please be strong 💙
Hello. Are you able to access to access counselling or a local support group? Maybe try telling your GP how you’re feeling? Lockdowns will not have helped but people do care and want to help. Sending love and virtual hugs from Brisbane Aus xoxox
Thank you guys I am looking forward to seeing your next adventure
Awesome 😎
I'm sure you two will remember this trip for decades to come. Thank you for bringing us along its been fantastic. Cheers
Our pleasure, Greg!
Thank you for showing me another lovely place. If I were to ever go , I don't imagine I would be in such lovely company. ..love you both and Otis too,,,XOXOX
Aww, thank you!
McOtis! Love these guys. Thank you for bringing this great vlog after a hard week. Xxxx
Our pleasure!
Thank you both, once again, for another wonderful, informative, video.
As an ex Brit who came to Canada when I was not quite 18 (now 79) I derive a huge amount of pleasure from being able to share, with you, your weekly adventures. Cheers and thanks.
WOW Thank you so much, Geoffrey. so glad you enjoyed it. stay safe xx
Otis looks so regal, total royalty. Colin I just love the history that you research. Thank you ever so much, what you to are doing is bringing me closer to my ancestors. I know that sounds weird but I'll never get to Scotland so you are doing the 'footwork' for me. Take care and hugs.
Aww, thank you, Lorraine!
Otis looks positively like Monarch of the Glen - magnificently Lordly! - in his beauty shots!👍👍🤗
He loves it xx
Once again, an epicness video of epic epicness!!! Don't know what else to say other than how fortunate we are to live on such a tiny island with so many wonderful places to visit and so many talented people like yourselves to bring these places to the rest of the world! Keep 'em coming guys!!!
And we've not even scratched the surface here 😉
Loving your travels and nothing is better than Otis showing how life should be lived…
He's loving Scotland 🏴
Fantastic loved it! Looking forward to the "F" wheel 😜 next week thanks for all the fab content as usual and you guys have me in stitches every time! Can't wait for the next thrilling instalment 👍 #Otis💙
Coming soon!
Excellent video! Otis looks as if he's having a grand time in that wind -- he also looks as if he will take flight at any second! 😊😊
Otis is loving it 😍
Yes it’s Friday, it’s Four O’clock, and it’s time for Foxes Afloat in Scotland. Colin there are two Lizzie monsters. One in Loch Lochy the other in Loch Quoich. It seems every Loch has a monster except Loch’s Duich and Linnhe. Great video again, this is not the last video, because your bound to pop up somewhere else in Scotland. Glad to see Otis enjoying to Lochs. Well tune in next week to find out where the Foxes are. Til then have a good week. TTFN
👍
Thank you very much for the fantastically beautiful vlogs!!
You are so welcome 🙏❤️🏴
Another great Vlog. I do believe Otis seems to be really enjoying the trip. Thank you for filming in such horrible weather.
Haha! Glad you enjoyed it, Sandra 👍🏻
I got to be very honest here when I say, it’s been like watching a TV Sitcom. It’s been awesome guys, and the music at the end couldn’t have been more perfect 🤩. Lol 😂. Look guys I’m looking forward to the next set you both go and get up too. The music 🎶 you had at the end should be your theme tune lol 😝. Any hu, please 🙏 stay safe & healthy. We have a new Covid-19 strain, they do feel it’s in UK 🇬🇧 but as of yet no cases showing. So watch yah back 💋
thank you so much. Still loads more of this madness to come xx
Watched the last two episodes on my 70" TV and the scenery was fantastic, a lot better than my phone. I would like to take that journey one day.
You should definitely try to visit, James xx
Greetings from Minnesota, USA. If you are concerned about swimming in waters that have pike in them, then Minnesota is off of your list. All 10,000+ lakes here have what we call, 'Northern' in them. Just four days ago, a 57", 55lb. muskellunge (Muskie) was caught in Lake Mille Lacs. We swim in these beautiful waters anyway. Merry Christmas.
WOW! 😮
Once again the scenery is absolutely beautiful, you are providing so much information and context, and oh yeah, Mr. Otis is stealing every scene he is in. Thank you for sharing all of this with us. Much love.
Otis is loving it 😍
It’s great seeing Scotland from the waterways, it also helps that you and Shaun ( Otis too) make it fun and interesting 💕💕
Aww thank you 😊
Thanks again, Colin & Shaun. This part of the adventure on the Lochs has been superb. Looking forward to next week's continued adventure in beautiful Scotland. Respectfully Jessiah ... PS and cuddles for Otis.
Our pleasure!
Loved the dramatic orchestral music as the wind picked up and Otis and Shaun took cover inside . I've loved travelling with you on the Caledonian Canal.
So glad you've enjoyed it ❤️🏴
Great journey! Great scenery! Thanks for sharing! Hugs for you both 💙💚💙
Thanks, Barry!
I have really enjoyed these Caledonian travels and the camerawork really captured the scale of the scenery there. It is many moons since I was in the Highlands (a trip on the Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh Line, long before the bridge to Skye was even a gleam in the civil engineer's eye, and the train connected with the ferry). So it was good to see the train (packed to the gills) on the West Highland Line. Thanks as always! --Mike
Glad you enjoyed this adventure xx
Fabulous footage as ever and can't wait for your next adventure 😀 😊
Thank you! 😀
This has been a welcome change to the English canals, I think I've seen all of them now, and I haven't been out of my home. Without getting wet or spending money. 😊
Isn't that the best way..... not spending money 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@FoxesAfloatoh yeah I hate spending money especially money for bills. 😊
Hi Foxes just wanted to say a big thank you. I have bought my hubby one of your fleeces, it's absolutely gorgeous and so soft too. Can't wait to see his face on Christmas morning, I know he will be absolutely delighted. We always tune into your videos, thank you so much for all the hard work and the amazing content and historical facts. All the best. Jane and Steve xxxx
Awesome, so glad you like it. Send us a picture of him wearing it when he gets it xxxx
I always enjoy seeing your vlogs, thank you very much to both of you, it's interesting scenery. xx
Thank you!
People I can assure you that is no green screen. You have to look at there camera set up,they use a very expensive video camera, the video quality is next level.A lot of there narrowboat videos looked like they were using a green screen because of the clarity of video.Fantastic vlog again guys what next are we expecting in your adventure more fun and quality for sure.
Thank you.
I'm actually so fed-up with people saying it, I'm just removing their comments now. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
All this time I thought the viaduct scene with the Hogwarts express was CGI. I will watch Harry Potter again and when it comes to that scene…I can say oh that’s the Glenfinnan Viaduct😍😂
It's very real and awesome xxx
After a stressful week at work it's so good to relax and chill out watching your wonderful vlog.
I'm so glad!
These vids of the Caledonian canal have been wonderful. Full of beautiful scenery and background stories that I haven’t heard before. Look forward to where you will be going to next. Your format is perfect. Love watching you two banter, so fun to watch. I look forward to your vlogs on Fridays. Thank you.
Thank you 🙏
As ever absolutely fantastic, thanks guys.
Our pleasure!
Thank you for the great adventure.I really enjoy watching your trips.Otis looks to be really enjoy the trips.Have a great day and looking forward to your next trip.
Thank you so much, Cindy. You have a great day too xxx
Oh my word, what a train!
Indeed!
Loved your journey on the Caledonian Canal...beautiful doesn't adequately describe it...maybe glorious or magnificent...makes me hope that I really do have some Scot blood in me, even though I've never totally proved it. Stay safe and don't make a run for the east coast 😂❤❤❤to the 3 of you, give Otis a belly rub for me (if he likes them) because he's been a jewel of a travel companion 🙂
Spectacular! 🏴
Am a few weeks behind, so having a good old catch up binge. Thanks again chaps- super videos. :)
Me too.👍🏻
Thank you, you'll soon be caught up xx
What a spectacular trip! So different to the narrow boat canals in England. Big water, grand expanses and gorgeous rugged views. I'm sure you missed the relatively spacious accommodations of your narrow boat, but on this trip it sure was nice to have the indoor cockpit to get in out of wind and weather when it really picked up, and it was certainly much better able to handle the rugged, deep water of the Caledonian Canal vs the shallow, calm narrow canals narrow boats are made for.
Thanks so much for taking us along on your journey. Looking forward to seeing the rest of your travels in Scotland!
you're so welcome, glad you enjoyed it xx
Thank you for your continuing videos. My mental health has really dipped and I'm finding life a real slog, but your videos really help and take me out of my life at the moment. Bless you both and I hope you continue to succeed xxx
Glad our videos help, stay strong 💪❤️
Thank you for the spiritual uplifting after a devastating week 😢
It was brilliant to see places I know well from the water, so beautiful and wild! By the way, those rainbows are very tasty! 😉
Fair weather and calm waters until next week, snowed today 🙄🙄
Glad you enjoyed it x
Another super blog, and we like your love of history, and great explanations, as well as great filming!! Thanks and enjoy Scotland!!
Glad you enjoyed it
Thank you, gentlemen. As always I found myself smiling the whole way through your video journey.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Always enjoy every week but today was a really good one.
Thanks so much Frances!
Loved these blogs from Scotland. You talk about the weather changes there. When I came to Oklahoma (USA) in 2008 I had never experienced such changes. We have 10 acres here, and I went out to take our dog for a walk up the pastures. When I wet off it was misty, then it went foggy, then the rain came followed by Freezing Rain followed by snow, and by the time I got back to the house it was brilliant sunshine and quite warm. Unbelievable. The worst is when we get an "Ice Storm", last year we lost about 20 trees which literally broke in half due to the weight of the ice on them. Looking forward to the blogs about the new build, take care Guys.
WOW 😮
Another brilliantly done vlog. Can’t wait for the wheel.
Coming soon 👍
A chilly laggan? That's a common problem up there. You want to get some thermal underwear! 😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Brilliant as usual, the scenery is breathtaking. Thank you so much for sharing it with us. Xx
The scenery is even better in real life ❤️❤️❤️🏴
Beautiful boys just beautiful. Thanks so much for sharing.
Thank you so much, Jeff. This country is amazing
Wonderful footage of the areas you have visited in your hire boat. Love the outtakes at the end, and as Miranda's Mum says "Such fun" 🇭🇲
🤣🤣 Thank you x
Thankyou for that. really showed a completely different aspect of canal boating. Beautifully scenic & interesting. Obviously pleased given the windy conditions that you chose not to wear kilts. Keep on vlogging.
Thank you, Doug 🙏👍🏴
Do you guys ever make a bad blog,I don't think so .Great story and fabulous views.I'm really looking forward to the Falkirk wheel so enjoy your chicken and chips Cheers guys from a wet and chilly Canada
Wow, thank you!
Great vlog boys. Absolutely love the Harry Potter connection. Epic trip!!
Loved every second!
Thanks guys that has been fantastic, I think I've got to go on the Caledonia Canal. Take care and all the best. Stevie
Thanks, Stevie ❤️❤️
It looks good for taking the dog kayaking😊
Absolutely 👍
I've really enjoyed your Scottish vlogs...I haven't been there since 2004, so bought a lot of great memories back...I would definitely recommend a road trip up the west coast if you haven't done that before. You were so bright and clear on my TV even in the drizzle, almost looked superimposed at times 😆
It's because you're used to seeing us on the back of a narrowboat with a black roof. This is a plastic cruiser with a white deck, so the light bounces off it on to us. Add to that the huge depth of field behind us and you have the effect you see 🤩
You blokes should come to the States and check out the Great Loop. Up the Hudson river from New York City to the Erie Canal; across the Great Lakes to Chicago; down the Illinois and Mississippi Rivers; up the Ohio and Tennessee Rivers to the Tenn-Tom Waterway; down the Tombigbee and Alabama Rivers to Mobile, Alabama; then along the Intercostal Waterway back up to NYC.
We're waiting for the business class air tickets and a 5* boat 😉
Does Otis know how noble he looks?
🤣🤣🤣
You guys are so lucky the scenery is amazing ! great job with the filming and history!
Thank you, Ken 🙏❤️🏴
So great to see you three boys today - always cheers up our day!! Those locks are crazy looking - such an amazing feat of construction. Loved seeing the train and bridge - amazing!!! Such beauty, no matter the weather, you’ve shared with us in this special Scotland trip. We appreciate all the work you put into it! Blessings to you both! Yesterday was thanksgiving in the US and we’re thankful for you sharing your lives and journeys with us. Hugs to you three! 💜🌸💜
Glad we could cheer you up x
The back drop scenery looks like a green screen. However I am a Grant and know the stunning landscape very well and realise it is very very real. Fab vlog, as usual.
Many thanks!
I dream of seeing the Scottish highlands one day….. love it!
You must try and visit, it is sooooo beautiful xx
Looking forward to the Falkirk Wheel, Thanks Colin and Shaun.

@@FoxesAfloat I’m enjoying them all Colin and Shaun thanks 🙏 stay safe n warm xx
So beautiful.
Spectacular!
Back when I made a hiking tour from Inverness to Isle of Skye through the Highlands people said: you don’t like the weather, well, wait 5 minutes... 🤣
Exactly 🤣
Drinking their own pond water... Now that is advanced English! I've never heard that before but I instantly knew what you meant 🤣
Actually said Bong Water 🤣🤣🤣
@@FoxesAfloat In that case, I just invented a new euphemism... 🤣🤣
😊😊😊 thank you for the good feels. ❤❤❤
You're welcome ❤️
Enjoy your chicken and chips. Floating barge inn will miss Shaune im sure with his Guiness consumption lol.
Great part of the country to visit you certainly kept us all enthralled on your trip across the Highlands the experience we all want to do but leave it to amazing people like you to do it for us.

Hello to YouThreeGuys, Rainy, wavy, or whatever, I liked seeing the scenery and hearing a bit of the history of this area. Loved the shots of Otis with his ears flying. Yesterday was Thanksgiving here in the US. Your video made a nice break from all the football that is on TV this long weekend. Always best regards, Gloria

Sad that your Scottish canal adventure has come to an end. The scenery was spectacular, and your humour made me chuckle to myself (which we all need in these crazy times). Thank you for taking us along for the ride. Hope I can experience it firsthand one day🤞. I’m so glad to hear that you don’t take every day for granted. Can’t wait to see where you go next.
