When I went to Scotland on a bus tour many years ago, we stopped for a photo-op with the “Welcome to Scotland” sign. Literally, on the English side it was sunny with blue skies and on the Scottish side.....rain.

The funniest "Welcome to" sign I've seen was in the Pyrenees. It was sideways to the road, so that it could point to both France and Spain. Someone had spray painted it all out, so it now said Catalunya, both ways.
On the Ireland/NI border, for the sake of political tensions, the signs merely say "speed limits in miles per hour" or "speed limits in km/h", nothing more. No mention of an international border.

As a yachtsman I can give you useful tips for if your boat breaks down in the middle of a loch. You need to send a distress signal. Here are two of the signals you can use at sea. First, fly your Union Jack upside down. That one may be a bit subtle so you could also set fire to a barrel of tar on the fo’csle. If these official signals are a bit too dramatic you could always get your mobile phone out . . .

I just turned the calendar over to December (I know it's late, but...), anyway, I wanted to tell you that your picture of Dillon for December was a bit sad because I lost my Buddy, my friend, this year so it was appropriate that I find the time to think about both Dillon and Buddy at this happy time of year. They did their job so well of being a pleasure, a love, always there when you needed them. Thank you for beautiful, remembered, wonderful beings. If yous come back a rail hunt round Fort Augustus might turn up some history that could interest you. There was a railway swing bridge there too for the railway which ran down to the pier there. The railway ran from Spean Bridge to Fort Augustus but closed way back before Beeching had a chance.

My brother did an Outward Bound course in Scotland. They had a Canadian amongst them who'd never heard of a haggis. They convinced him it was a small animal that lived on the side of a hill and only went round one way as the legs on one side of it was shorter than the other. When they were strung out along the trail someone up front would shout HAGGIS! and the Canadian would come running up from the rear just to get a look at it. Poor bugger never did see one.

hi lads..as an Aussie I've been to Scotland four times..ranging from late May to July...and I can tell you, summer temps in Scotland are only a few degrees warmer than winter back home in Melbourne..you've got to dress in layers because you're either putting it on or taking it off, the layers that is..I think on my last trip in 2017 I actually had days where I was able to strip to a cami/singlet, but most days were spent in long sleeves...and it is really true, the first sign of sun and a Scotsman WILL get his kit off..chuckle...it may only be around 17*c but that's enough to bare one's chest...I miss travelling to Scotland AND England..oh, and Wales...beautiful country there..I just miss visiting the UK period...I've been as far south as Lands End in Cornwall and all the way north to Kirkwall in the Orkney isles..as far west as the west coast of The Isle of Harris and as far east as Aberdeen...I would like to do the 500 in the north/west of Scotland, but I doubt that'll happen..so where are you off to next boys..??

Colin and Shaun (and Otis), what a wonderful series you produced for us, the Caledonian Canal looked great! It reminded me more of the canal cruising I’m used to (in Canada). If we ever get over for a visit, I’ll definitely consider a hire boat (ideally a narrow boat and a cruiser).
Keep up the great work! Many of us really enjoy the scenery, the history and the laughs you provide us! I always look forward to Friday!

Excellent as usual. Thought you were going on Falkirk wheel or is that next time. As regular visitors to Scotland we can confirm changes in weather within a day. Our best on the Waverley thick mist in the sound, diverted to Tobermory $) degrees and a chemist shop inundated with people buying suntan cream. Glad you enjoyed the trip

The Caledonian Canal looks amazing. When we were up there - we never did get around to visiting that canal (so we will have to rectify that). We did some other things which you'll be doing in upcoming vlogs though - so I look forward to seeing that. I am glad to hear about the great tutelage from LeBoat - it really does make a difference.

You two are some of my favourite people! Love to see your vlogs and a very special hug and kiss for Otis. He is such a sweetie. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the information and entertinment you give to us each week. I can hardy wait to see your new narrowboat home. Are you going to give us an insight into the building of it? I hope so as it is fascinating to see one being built along with the talented experts that put it together. Thank you and virtual hugs from Canada.

This series has been extremely enjoyable ,you captured the scenery and atmosphere beautifully.I was hoping to see the Falkirk wheel but maybe another time .As a cadet I spent one summer on a ship full of iron ore laid up in the Gareloch we had a skiff with an outboard and ran a liberty boat service for all the other ships laid up there .We bought some fishing lines and would take holiday makers in Hellens borough jigging for Mackerel ,five bob a trip
    Take care see you soon
