Chinese Hamburger Buns

- This is my version of the popular Chinese Hamburger Buns in northwest China. These buns are slightly chewy and crusty on the outside but still soft inside. I liked to fill the buns with braised pork belly and sometimes a simple fried egg with some cucumber and sweet bean sauce.

I really like this video, because it shows in closeup the stages to go through with a lot of detail. I don't know whether I will get around to actually making these buns, but I saw roujiamo beefburgers in one CZcams video and they looked delicious.

Btw, is the skillet/pan in high heat or medium?

I toast English muffins in a dry skillet now, not in a toaster or under a grill. Have the skillet on low to medium heat and check often that the muffin halves are not getting too brown.

Your better than me bc I’m not willing to do all that if idk for sure it will turn out right. Have you tried it yet and can tell me if the bun turns out flakey?
Total bummer girl. I just seen another video from this channel using the same bun and it’s NOT flakey WHATSOEVER! Looks more like bread dough, similar to a pita pocket. This Chinese bun recipe is a bust unfortunately 😩

NOOO!!! Lol I expected you to open the bun at the end so I could see if your recipe turns out like the other Chinese hamburger bun recipes I’ve seen! More traditional recipes I’ve seen use a pasta maker to get the dough very thin then a noodle cutter to cut the dough into long strands(like spaghetti noodles) and my cheap @ss is trying to find a way to get around that if I can 😂😂 is there anyone here that has tried this recipe before and can tell me if the consistency of the bun is accurate??

She rolled the dough lpng and skinny and then she rolled it from one end to an 8ther etc that is why the get kind of flaky
what if I bake the dough after rolling it?
I'm sure you can bake them...prob @375˚F 15 to 20 mins..
