The bit about the music starting slow and building up..the story telling behind it..was almost poetic, spiritual.. absolutely masterful!!!.. One of the most amazing stand up performances I have ever seen. Pure brilliance!.
it is exactly that, I read this after my comment, this guy is just like a Dj in a club, expert in their craft knowing exactly how and where to take the crowd on that journey.
Here's to twenty years later and to the next person 21 years later!!! Also if ya haven't discovered the tommy hector and laurita podcast, find it, ya can thank me later!!
Jesus I hadn't watched this set in years. The piece where he's talking about Earth and how insignificant we are is actually quite thought provoking! Cracking set
Genius indeed, although he had to pause awhile, and and intimate, to get the laugh. Too clever, too quick. And that's a compliment. I haven't a critical word to say about the lad. He takes all as he finds them, including his own, and that's as it should be.
I saw this for the first time when I was 13 at a sleepover. It is the last time I was crossed legged trying not to wet myself from laughter. Still has the same effect 14 years later!
This, handsdown, is fuuuuuuuuuuuucking hilarious AND amazingly ABSURDLY GOOD. As a playwright I can only salute this mixture of anecdotal wackyness and amazement, observing, dynamic, question raising and answer burning and giving, confusing piece of theatre and comedy ❤
oh my gosh what a find for me just now (via Chris Ramsey, here on youtube, and that ...via SCD.. ). LOVED THIS! I count my blessings that I understand the language well enough to be able to crack up on this show!!!
I'm always astounded by just how many great comedians there are out there. It gives me hope for the Human Race that there are people that can see the world like Tommy and his surrealist comedian compatriots!!!
And don't forget our lovely Dave Allan, Tommy actually went on to play Dave's father in the movie, great choice,I'm going to get him up next, cheers valerie ☘️
I can’t find the bit about him going to the disco and asking a girl will you dance with me and down he goes and says she looks like a fire extinguisher Can anyone help lol
God Almighty, he was brilliant there! Radiohead and all! Brilliant, like all Irishmen! God, I'm glad I'm Irish! Oh, wait, I'm not Irish, then? Oh bloody hell!
Haven't seen him before....a man of multifarious appearance! Compare to the " comedians " we have shoved into our faces in the UK. Will watch some more tonite....right up my street.
This guy is an absolute masterclass, in context hes the Dj legend Carl Cox of the comedy world. starting of nice n chilled building it and taking the crowd on a journey, finally we are all as one in the crescendo of the final drop...
I got this on dvd for christmas 20 years ago and together with a few JD's and a few friends laughed the whole way from the outset all the way till the end , cheers ISLA MAN ( nickname for TT )
Oh my God. I came back here again. It’s as good as if it were the first time. Find yourself laughing and yelling fit to wake the neighbours. I could only do this in thirds - it’s too much. This kinda comic genius - and GUTS - is a rare find
Oh, dear sweet Jesus, that is so accurate, My father was a physicist and a poet and trumpet player. He played with the best. God love the people who tell the story...and make us laugh.
He’s a legend. Some find some of his stuff controversial but I think he’s just a very clever, insightful, energetic (especially in the earlier days) soul, occasionally misunderstood. My fave Irish comedian.
I overheard an Irishman talking to a woman and when he had gone on for a while being all Irish she interrupted and said “are you insane?”, and without missing a beat he answered “no I’m Irish, that is often mistaken for insanity “. Best line I’ve ever heard 😂😂😂😂
I hadn't heard a word out his mouth. But upon me eyes on his face.... I laughed uncontrollably. Yet LOVINGLY. AH yea I am American with deep affection for the Irish..Scottish... Wee.... All HUMANS.!!!

YES! My favorite of his or any comedian.

Still a legendary set after all these years.
"Look daddy look! A house... stuck to another house. How ridiculous daddy!"
That genuinely had me in tears.
To my mind, Tommy is one of THE funniest & most interesting souls on this blue ball!
Yea better believe it,he's a mad man,and he feckin loves it,he earned his place in our country,he's a gas man🥲😅😆😁😄😀❤️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️

And then he goes: "nobody knows we're here… let's wreck the joint!" And that is unbelievably sad and funny at the same time!
inspired by monty python universe song, perhaps
20:00 to 45:30 - Masterclass in storytelling stand-up. A set-up with three splits all linked and returned to source. Genius isn't too strong a word.
@@corkwijk9 you're
Rocky couldn't live with the shame, he said 'your a simpleton' and was thus murdered by word.

I was not ready for how brilliant he is.

The *Irish* --- Greatest story tellers, Writers, and comedic geniuses!
Most of the funniest comedy about is written by English writers/comedians, best in the world. No I am not English btw, there is just no comparison.
@@lordkenwyn1809 please elaborate???
Thanks Leena
🙏🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪❤️✌️
@Mark Weaver if the English are so great why are you sitting listening to an Irish man ?? 🤙
Why couldn't he listen to both?
"i've got a drop of tea in my mouth and i'm trying to keep it warm"
yes!!!

Wow, I really appreciate you posting this. He is a truly great comedian. Amazing from an Irish perspective. Rats and trees and children... :)

The first stand up I ever watched and still my favourite
Absolute legend. One of the great Irish orators.

This was the 1st thing I ever saw on CZcams, broken into 10 - 15 minute clips and absolutely fell in love with him. Thank you posting it in full.
Jeepers exactly the same. Stuck in Austria with dodgy internet so was a good thing!!!
Still one of my all time favourite stand up shows. Still as funny as the first time I saw it.

Had me reaching for my inhaler. And i think I've pulled the laugh muscles in my face.
I amcarbonandotherbits. Same, the donkey story had me in stitches
Quickscope Kid . Reading what you sent had me in stitches. Coz I could see and hear it in my mind's eye.

Tommy is a living legend, it's been years since I've seen this but remember everything, still hilarious though.

One of the nicest people you could ever meet!!!!

the accent though 😍💗
Why have I not heard of him,I've been missing out,he makes me want to go to Ireland,he's solo funny !!!!❤❤❤❤
He’s a legend. Some find some of his stuff controversial but I think he’s just a very clever, insightful, energetic (especially in the earlier days) soul, occasionally misunderstood.
My fave Irish comedian.
I still think this is his best set.
He gets wilder as he grows older, but this had really well worked out bits and stories in it.
Absolutely hilarious! I laughed until tears were streaming down my face.
Love the beginning on the beach!!!
I laughed until I cried! Absolutely hilarious 😂
Legend.
Thank you Tommy, for shaking loose me uptight humanity. ( written by a sixty year old woman . Hallelujah)
Just watched it tipo the end. What a storyteller!
"I floored it." 😆
Top man!
If only more people understood just how important that bit about 911 is, don't be manipulated by the bullshit on TV.
I'm Irish...
What does that mean?
It means I'm not fucking English..
😂😂😂😂
Look at the guy at 23:07 as the truth sinks in...
Lmaoooooo
This moment at 26:00 made me laugh so hard. The crowd got so silent LOL His reaction to it all
One word Genius.
The whole thing was hilarious but his rendition of a jazz session I was on the floor.
The bit about the D4 head flooring it to Galway always leaves me in a state
Love him!!
Best irish comedy sketch imo
I seen the man himself about 9 months ago in Waterford, It's just a lot a better in person watching this genius in action.
***** comedy is subjective, maybe you like dead baby jokes better and the likes of that?
+cattlewrangler you dry shite ffs
+cattlewrangler well why you watching his video just to tell folk you don't like him ,,,grow up ,,,hey
I come back to his older shows sometimes and just think... "how the fuck do people who weren't raised in Ireland see him?"
... I still don't know.
He's hilarious!
I love him to bits but I am half Irish so I don't know if that means I understand what he's saying more or something
Well I usually press the play button but that's just me.
I'm from a South Yorkshire mining town and I live in Scotland. He's just like a member of the family.
American here with Irish grandparents. Love him! Just found him & binging all I can find. He has the same dark humor as my family. Its brilliant.
Twenty years later and I can say he's right. I work in care and nearly every child claims to be a traveller!
I overheard an Irishman talking to a woman and when he had gone on for a while being all Irish she interrupted and said “are you insane?”, and without missing a beat he answered “no I’m Irish, that is often mistaken for insanity “.
Best line I’ve ever heard 😂😂😂😂

Normally I dont do any compliments or anything, but he is excellent.
I swear, I have never EVER laughed so hard in all my life!!!!!!! Omg you’re too much!! Bless you, Tommy Tiernan!! I can die happy now. 😂🤣🥰😂🤣

Hands down the best comedian ever full stop... .. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I love it when he giggles at himself.
Jeepers there's nobody that can make me laugh like Tommy :-D
No better comedian in the world tommy is a genius
This is the first time I've seen this set...
That bit about firealarms nearly made me piss myself

He had me int ears at one point ,i love the Irish!

WTF?!!!
16:02: Is it BRENDAN or DECLAN (MOFFAT)? ;)
27:00 haha it's only been 16 years and that's the case now, so ahead of his time without even trying to be,.

@A Jester Btw...I love your disclaimer. You must be Irish.
His jaZz impersonation was perfect!
